Excellent knife

I have owned this knife for at least seven seasons. The handle chipped after I dropped it on the hardwood floor. Benchmade not only replaced the wooden handle but cleaned sharpened and oiled it up as well as replaced the clip. I have shipped it back annually for a sharpening and always comes back like a new knife. Best hunting knife I have ever owned. Gut hook is awesome

This benchmade nice is amazing. The feel of it is perfect. The action and performance is also great. It works fantastic and cuts everything needed to cut. I got it for my dad as a Christmas present and couldn't even wait to give it to him. He absolutely loves it and it's now his everyday carry!

After 9 years, still my favorite knife.

I bought one of these when they first came out 9 years ago. At the time, I had several different knives I would bounce between for work, hunting, etc. Since I bought one when I was 19 it's all I've carried since. When I had misplaced it the week before a deployment to Afghanistan, I bought another. Using it constantly. Of course I found the first one when I got back, now I've got two, sorry to brag. I carry one of them on me every day at work, in the military, on the family farm, take it out pursuing all my game from waterfowl, western hunting, midwestern whitetail. I've cleaned countless animals with this knife, including several deer. It's tumbled down mountains, been submerged in swamps, gotten buried in sand, it even accidentally joined me for a swim in the Gulf of Mexico. I have been HARD on this knife and it owes me nothing. Holds an edge great, extremely tough little knife. I know of several guys that have used mine who ended up picking one up for themselves. The blade on it has been great for everything I've done with it from skinning game, cutting cheese, cutting rope, and I've even used it to take down some small trees in a pinch. This past summer on an exercise, one of my guys was cutting through some 550 on a humvee and he buried the blade into an aluminum mount. It only put a small burr on the blade and I was impressed at how easy it was to work that burr out and get that fine edge back. I've only ever used the hook when I've been cutting skin on game and that thing is like opening a zipper. The hook is still razer sharp on both knives and I've never sharpened that part. I like how tidy it tucks into the handle. When you're not using it, you don't even know it's there. The size is perfect. Fits great in the pocket without being overly bulky or too heavy. Though, it does have more weight than some of those pocket knives that have G10 handles. It's big enough to clean game and handle some bigger tasks if needed, but small enough that if you pull it out at a wedding to cut a cigar people won't look at you like you're trying to be Crocodile Dundee. I have only ever sharpened it and have never done anything to maintain the action besides running water over it to get blood out of the pivot point on the blade and both of my knives are still extremely smooth. The stabilized wood has been very good. The only issue I'd had is that on both of my knives, purchased years apart, a little bit of the wood has broken off back near where the hook pivots out. It's only about 1/8" that has been lost on both and its so unnoticeable that I don't even know when it happened for either of them. The pocket Clip holds up very well, I bent one out when it got caught on some webbing a while back, I just took it off, bent it back, slapped it back on and it's been fine since. I couldn't recommend this knife enough. If you're on the fence about picking this up, just get it.

Nothing quite like receiving a Benchmade in the mail. Ive used it for cooking at camp mostly and it's doing great. Super easy to clean, I've never had a better knife. My girlfriend even wants a Benchmade now, so girlfriend approved I guess.

Edc

I received this knife as a birthday present from my fiance 3 years ago. The handle had cracks in the stabilized wood. It eventually broke and the pieces are gone, was told id have to pay for shipping, and replacement of the parts, but cant just have the parts sent to me. I don't trust my knife won't be replaced or "resharpened as a courtesy". Why have a warranty for defects if your going to charge for replacement parts? I carry it daily, cutting everything from tape to rope, from tree branches to zip-ties. I use it to break open rib cages on deer like a hot knife through butter. The gut hook although useful isn't something I use for its intended purposes. Although the edge was decently sharp, I couldn't help but hone the edge to my preferred angle and sharpness. It hold an edge for quite a while as I go about my daily tasks, but I find myself sharpening quite often...

Best knife I've ever owned

Hands down the best knife it was my edc until I lost it I carried it everywhere for about 5 years I've cleaning many deer and hogs with it and hardly ever had to sharpen it. Hook was perfect, and the knife was very balanced over all Im really impressed with this knife none have matched it's performance

The Best

I bought this knife before deer season this year 2022, after harvesting whitetail deer on opening day and when I started to gutting the deer just few minutes after I realized this knife is not only a hunting knife. This knife is my best friend in the woods. It is a very sharp knife, my job was done so fast and so nicely that I this knife is not knife anymore it is my best hunting buddy. All I want to say to you all hunters please give it a try. We as a hunters we all deserve the best and this iis the best.

Great knife

I have used this knife three years now and love it. It is my field knife for whitetail and that is it's only use. I like the fact that I can carry it in my hunting jacket pocket and don't have it dangling on my side in a tree stand. I love the fact that it has a gut hook. I wash the knife down with hot soap and water after use then blow it dry with a air compressor, then oil the moving parts. I have had zero problems with this great knife.

Beautiful Knife, But...

Love the the look and feel of this knife, its beautiful. I've used it hunting a couple times and each time was left wanting more and even though I've taken it on a couple other hunts it stays in my pocket while we use other knives to do the dirty work because this one doesn't like to get dirty. The gut hook was so-so and doesn't feel as sturdy or work as good as a nice fixed blade with a hook.

So nice in fact. That it convinced the whole shop to buy them. Computer geeks and Electronics technicians, at sea. Had mine now for 3 years. No complaints. Other than others wanting to steal it.

Everyday Carry

I have owned this knife for over 5 years now. You can say I never leave the house without it in my pocket. The sharpness of the blade lasts a long time between light sharpening. I've got it soaking wet, in the dirt, in the sand in the mud. As long as you rinse it and dry it, no problems. The wood handle is still as new as the day I bought it. I have dropped it kicked it, stepped on it and I can say it is durable. I have been shopping around for another Benchmade knife, but the more I look, the more I realize I am completely satisfied with this knife and continue to carry it anytime I leave my home.

Great knife. Weak scales.

Love the knife and everything about it except the diamond wood scales. Mine broke after carrying it twice. Right where the gut hook flips out is super thin. I don't see how the designer of the knife would think it would hold up here. A better material should have been used like g10. Wish you could update the scales. I love the knife besides that.

Good knife, handle is a failure

I've carried this knife for several years. The handle has cracked three times on one side by the gut hook and Benchmade replaced it the first two times. This time, when I asked if they made a handle out of a different material that I could purchase to stop it from cracking. They said they didn't, and replacing it again would require purchasing another wood handle. This is a bad design, the wood is paper thin around the gut hook swivel. Benchmade should upgrade the handle design or material to fix it.

My daily carry

The Grizzly Creek is my daily carry and primary blade for big game field dressing and de-boning at the hunt camp. I do not pamper this knife and the blade is exposed to heavy use everyday. Just finished the deer and antelope season with a total harvest of six and just now doing an extended and careful sharpening. Extremely pleased with its performance. I've not had any issues except for the pocket clip screws loosening so may need to use a thread-lock compound. The pocket clip works great and retains its tension and grip on lighter fabrics like dress pants. The gut hook is strong and has retained its sharpness and I use regularly for string and light rope as well as its intended purpose. I'm very protective of this knife and would love to send it in for the free sharpening but fearful that it would get lost in shipping so I'll continue to sharpen it myself!

Amazing blade, wood scales can crack and cause injury.

I absolutely love this knife... mostly. I am impressed with the blade, locking and usefulness of the gut hook. My big issue is with the wooden handle scales. I purchased the knife because of how gorgeous the handle was, but this is also its weakness. The wood scales are machined very thin to fit around the guthook and other fixture screws and hinges, and they have cracked in several places. The worst part is that when the knife is clipped at the back of your right pocket, the blazingly sharp shards of the handle by the gut hook slice your pinky finger as you reach into your pocket. This has happened to me twice now. The first time I used a nail file to smooth the jagged wood as it stabbed into my hand, but it has re split and sliced my finger as I was reaching into my pocket. Hoping warranty will fix the issue. At this point, I don't trust the wood and wish there was a micarta scale option.

Great Everyday Carry

I wanted a durable working knife with a classic look to it. The grizzly creek knife is very sharp and well put together. I would not expect anything less from Benchmade.

Very nice knife

I'm impressed with this knife, I purchased this knife for a upcoming elk hunt in September so I haven't used it yet but I can say it cuts very good, do not carry this knife clipped on your left front pocket(like I have with other knives for 15 years) I went to put my wallet in my left front pocket one day and the wallet caught the grooves towards the bottom of the blade opening it and it sunk the blade a half inch into my palm. Four stitches later I carry it in my right pocket with the blade facing the corner of my pocket. Still I am impressed with the quality of this knife, it is stout and well made, I am curious to see how it holds an edge.

Always in my pack

Quartered 2 elk and two deer with it so far and haven't put a steel to it, still sharp enough to quarter at least one more elk. But now the gut hook is stuck closed after the last use, and the handle cracked... I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem in the warranty department. I can't say enough good about how the S30V holds an edge, I'll send it in for cleaning and honing, and be ready for at least 4 more big game animals!

My favorite benchmade to date. Have owned it for 5 years

As with other reviewers it has a couple points of matinence. I carry this knife EDC. I cut everything with it. The "gut hook" is great at cutting tags and wristbands off of my small children. When this knife gets wet it does "stiffen up" its weird but just like someone else said it's like the scales swell and pinch the metal. The wood by the gut hook has chipped and once cut me because of its sharp egde it created. Still my favorite knife. You'll rarely find me without it. I have had to tighten the main screw a few times over the years but nothing outside of normal maintenance. I'm a BM lifer!

Very Difficult to Clean and no locking Gut Hook

Sharp knife that holds an edge well even after deboning. My 2 biggest complaints with this knife is after 1 use, the knife becomes incredibly hard to open and close even after a thorough cleaning. The other issue is the gut hook doesn't lock in place. This is a minor inconvenience but it is annoying. Good knife otherwise.

Grizzly Ridge a better tool

This is a nice product. Eric's comment about the scale breaking near the gut hook was echoed by the salesman in my local Sportsman's Warehouse. I've no use for a gut hook, and far prefer the grip of the Grizzly Ridge instead. I didn't know I needed it but love it, like my other 6-7 Benchmade knives.

Great knife that could be better

Awesome steel, silky smooth action. Always check ALL your screws, add Loctite. The Diamond Wood is NOT bulletproof. It will break by the gut hook, replacement scales are $55.... not a plus.

Great Tool

I've had this for about a year and the only maintenance I've had to do is slightly tightening main axis screw a few times, cleaning, and sharpening. I'm a huge fan of the axis lock and S30V steel. Great back up pocket knife.

Top notch knife and fantastic customer service.

I purchased this the first year they introduced the Hunt line. So I have a few years using the knife as a hunting knife and as an EDC at times. After a few years of use a spring in the axis lock broke. I contacted customer support and it was repaired, inspected and returned in less than 10 days. No questions or hassles. I don't want to give the idea that the locks are weak. I have a 710 H&W I've had for over a decade, D2 steel and heavy work load with absolutely no problems with the lock. Things just happen sometimes. So the Grizzly Creek is solidly constructed with S30v premium steel, smooth action and quality scales. Like most Benchmade knives (and I own a few) it's solid American workmanship by a company that stands behind their products completely. You can buy this knife with confidence and assurance. I highly recommend it.

Nice knife if you only want to use it once a week or so.

I have a custom laser engraved Grizzly Creek that my daughter bought for me a few years ago and it has never worked properly. Every time I use it to gut an animal it becomes very stiff and hard to use, even after all the blood is washed off of it. This lasts for about a week. It is like the wood swells up from the blood or water and pinches the knife blade. This is not a very good hunting knife or design. My folding pocket knife turns into a fixed blade knife with no sheath about 10 minutes into using it and stays that way for a week.
