Knife and trainer are solid. Did not realize the knife would say Greg Thompson on it. Knife and sheath were shipped without bubble wrap so the contents were banging around during shipment. Very mild discoloration on sheath injection point from molding process. Product is great. I would have respected a bit more care with the packaging.

I had very high hopes for this product but feel let down. The price is rather high for a simple design made with such a mediocre steel. But I had hoped the design and sheath would make it worth the extra expense. Mine came from the factory with a very dull blade. Took a lot of work on my sharpener just to get it moderately sharp. I feel a tool like this should come razor sharp and never need to be touched again except maybe in the unlikely case that you are forced to use it for its designed purpose. In contrast the ridging for the thumb has unnecessarily sharp edges, making appendix carry very uncomfortable when sitting. This is partly my fault since I am carrying about 5 extra pounds around my mid section so the edges really dig in. The clip on the otherwise very well designed sheath does not grip strongly enough to allow for consistent draws while pocket carrying though it works very well for holding onto a belt. I really like the optional practice blade that handles exactly the same. Though the finger ridges on both don't align well with my fingers and the whole grip is very narrow. But since this is not designed for all day carving comfort it is not that big a deal. With the finger ring the blade will stay where it needs to. Once sharpened the SOCP can make for a very effective self defense tool. I just wish I could find a way to carry it comfortably that allows me to reliably draw it without the sheath occasionally coming along.

Good ergonomics, loves the deep carry sheath. My only complaint is that the knife arrived dull. I was expecting a razor sharp knife as you usually get with Benchmade

The SOCP is a fantastic design and the training dagger that is the exact weight and design is perfect for helping train someone who is a novice. The 1 finger pull release is perfect for then setting up control of the dagger. Really well thought out.

This set is exactly what you see. If you want a really good EDC concealable defensive tool, this is a perfect choice in my opinion. Having a training knife is a huge benefit for use in self-defense classes. I highly recommend that you get the SOCP Leather backplate. It makes it really comfortable when carrying the knife and sheath inside the waistband. It is only $10. 00 and worth ever cent.

The trainer is a great accessory. The sheath is small enough to conceal comfortably. The blade is light and fast. This set up is definitely the level of quality you would expect from Benchmade. It's nice to use something made in the USA.

The dagger in this set is super sharp and easy to draw thanks to the strong design of the dagger grip and the sheath. The trainer is heavier than the dagger, but its grip design is like that of the dagger and it's been far safer to work with during the "bumbler" phase of familiarizing myself with the use of the dagger.

Packaging was well protected. The sheath, trainer, and knife all encompass quality. Well balanced and easy to control. The sheath gives me confidence in holding the knife or trainer in any scenario. You must have deliberate intention to remove the knife from the sheath. Definitely will be picking up more as gifts for those who don't want to conceal carry.

I carry this knife everyday at work. This knife fits very well in the molle in my ballistic vest. It has a very durable plastic sheath. The blade is made of a very good steel and has a nice powdercoat to help protect it from corrosion.

I carry the SOCP as a defensive tool to compliment my other daily carry options (firearms) or on occasions when it's necessary to be more discrete. The karambit-style ring makes the knife easy to draw from a variety of carry positions. However, the grip is a little thin in-hand. This is out of necessity, but it keeps it from being comfortable when striking. As an EMT, I want to like the space that has been left which allows the dagger to function as a wrench for oxygen bottles; however, it goes without saying that this shouldn't be your first choice for supplying O2. This is a fighting knife first and foremost, and that design philosophy limits its usefulness in utility.
