Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 + Sigma 16mm f/1.4 = Pure Magic for Podcasters! I'm absolutely blown away by the image quality of the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 paired with the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens. I'm using this setup for my podcast, and let me tell you-it looks cinematic. The depth, the clarity, the color science? everything just pops. It gives my show a professional, polished look without the bulk of a traditional cinema rig. Despite its tiny form factor, this camera packs serious punch. Dynamic range is impressive, low light performance with the Sigma lens is shockingly good, and the Micro Studio G2's SDI output makes integration into my Blackmagic ATEM system seamless. I can focus on the conversation while knowing the visual storytelling is next-level. If you're a podcaster or solo creator looking to elevate your production without breaking the bank or your back, this combo is absolutely unbeatable. Clean, crisp, and damn near broadcast-ready

Perfect small cam!

Perfect small camera. if you need 4k M43 and small you can't do better than this
Ultra-compact broadcast camera with a 4K image sensor, Micro Four Thirds mount, and cinematic color science. It supports 12G-SDI for HD and Ultra HD video up to 2160p60 with functions via SDI and HDMI connections. The camera especially excels in low-light conditions with a wide ISO range of 100-25,600. It features tally lights, talkback functionality, and multiple connectivity options, including HDMI, SDI, and USB-C to connect to accessories such as an ATEM switcher. The camera records in Blackmagic RAW format, offering flexibility for post-production, suitable for live production, television, filmmaking, and more.
The small size of the Micro Studio Camera makes it virtually invisible, so you can place it just about anywhere on set. You can have more camera angles than ever before for your live production to create a more interesting program. Its professional broadcast connections make it perfect for any kind of work such as television production, broadcast news, sports, education, conference centers and churches! It's now easy to hide lots of cameras on stage for the most incredible shorts! While Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera is designed for live production, it can also be used with editing software. That’s because it can record Blackmagic RAW to USB disks for later editing and color correction!
In advanced cameras, ISO is a measurement of the image sensor’s sensitivity to light. This means the higher the ISO the more gain can be added so it’s possible to shoot in natural light, or even at night! The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera features gain from -12dB (100 ISO) up to +36dB (25,600 ISO) so it's optimized to reduce grain and noise in images, while maintaining the full dynamic range of the sensor. The primary native ISO is 400, which is ideal for use under studio lighting. Then the secondary high base ISO of 3200 is perfect when shooting in dimly lit environments. The gain can be set from the camera HDMI menu, or remotely from a switcher using the SDI/HDMI remote camera control.
The amazing 4K sensor combined with Blackmagic generation 5 color science gives you the same imaging technology used in digital film cameras. That means you can now use cinematic images for live production! Plus, when combined with the built in DaVinci Resolve primary color corrector you get much better images than simple broadcast cameras. The color corrector can even be controlled from the switcher. With 13 stops of dynamic range, the camera has darker blacks and brighter whites, perfect for color correction. The sensor features a resolution of 4096 x 2160 which is great for both HD and Ultra HD work. Plus, Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera supports from 23.98 fps up to 60 fps.
With the popular MFT lens mount, Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera is compatible with a wide range of affordable photographic lenses from Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma and more! Photographic lenses are incredible quality because they're designed for use in high resolution photography. Plus, the active lens mount lets you adjust the lens remotely! This is ideal as it lets you adjust cameras mounted high up in hard to reach areas without needing to physically access them. Plus, the optional focus and zoom demands let you adjust the lens just like a large studio camera! This means you can set important lens settings such as focus, zoom and iris just like you can with an expensive B4 broadcast lens!
Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K features a tally light that illuminates red for on air, green for preview and orange for ISO recording. This makes it easy for talent to present with confidence as they know at a glance which camera is on air! You get full support for the SDI and HDMI tally protocol from switchers such as ATEM Television Studio, ATEM Constellation and ATEM Mini. This means that a director can cut between cameras and the tally information will be sent back to the cameras, lighting up the tally light on the camera whenever it's on air. Because the tally it sent via the SDI and HDMI connections to the camera, complex cabling is eliminated.
Using the HDMI output, you can connect to switchers such as ATEM Mini! Plus the HDMI connection supports sending tally, color corrector control and record trigger back to the camera from the switcher.
Use the SDI output and the SDI program return for 2 way talkback between the camera and any SDI ATEM switcher. Tally and control is also sent to the camera via the SDI program return.
You also get a USB-C expansion port for recording to external disks or controlling the camera via zoom and focus demands. You can even connect a USB-C to Ethernet adapter to control the camera over a network via REST APIs! Plus there’s a 3.5mm port for connecting a microphone.
Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera includes built in microphones so you get sound included in the design making setup much faster. Each microphone is placed at the optimal position meaning you get better stereo separation than what is possible on a regular video camera. There’s also a 3.5mm audio input so you can connect to video microphones when you need to add larger more directional microphones with wind protection. Whether you’re using the built in microphones or attaching an external mic, the audio is embedded into the SDI and HDMI video outputs so you get perfect audio and video sync!
