Great product for a small fly pack setup, requires some initial setup and learning (unlike the atem mini) but after that it’s just plug in and get going. Perfect for events like weddings or church.

Chose this switcher because of the versatility of the inputs/outputs. And it works just fine, but you have to have all your sources' resolutions and frame-rates matched up to each other and to the switcher for it to work. Not having built in input scalers (like the newer ATEMs) makes it difficult. Once that's set though, it works great and is simple and has all the basic functions right on the surface without needing to simultaneously run the software. I also miss having an HDMI program out (only has HDMI multi-view). And if your cameras are running Level A SDI (as my PTZOptics do), you'll need converters as the SDI inputs on this are Level B. So, despite no scalers and needing adapters for Level A/B SDI and SDI-to-HDMI for my program output, I really like having this switcher to handle all my incoming video sources and just having to utilize one input on my computer.

A nice compact and well equipped bit of kit for sure but if you are upgrading from an atem mini don’t forget its missing a lot of features including: Can’t accept or scale different resolution inputs No capture device No audio processing (limiter etc)

What a great little HD switcher. It works really well, and the fact that you can use it with or without a computer is incredibly helpful.The recorder is also nice. I love that I can record up to ProRes UHD, so I can use it with cinema cameras, and still use it when I'm ready to move up to UHD cameras.The rack keeps it all in one space so I have room for a dual screen monitor and a 1U power conditioner. A studio in a box.

My experience so far with a variety of BMD products has been the initial impression of, "Holy cow, how do they provide this much functionality at this price point?" Unfortunately it's then followed by at least one, "aw s***why didn't they do this or that?". For this product, the disappointment is that all the inputs must be at the same resolution and timing setting as for the unit itself. I.e., if you set the unit for 1080i, but have a laptop that's 1080P or 720p, for example, that input won't be seen. I guess for this price point though, is it unreasonable for us to expect at least basic scaling? Also, the camera numbering system seems counter-intuitive to me. The first 4 camera inputs are actually HDMI inputs, which will more likely be Media or laptops, not cameras. So as a new user, when you plug in your first BMD studio camera, it'll take you awhile to figure out that you have to change that camera itself to be number 5, because that's the first SDI connection on the switcher. Duh. What you think would be camera 1 is actually camera 5. And, I wonder if some of the BMD Engineers are private pilot's? I am, so the aviation headset connections for intercom is very convenient. And my case I had some old inexpensive Telex headsets that plug in and work right away. Bad news is the headset intercom system in general seems noisy with an annoying amount of hum. I wonder if that's just a consequence of trying to squeeze intercom and camera control and program sending all back through that SDI connection back to the camera? But, as I mentioned earlier, it's a great value for churches and similar budget installations and uses, as long as you're aware of those shortcomings.

I bought the ATEM switcher for a Christian program in other to be able to switch between 2 cameras. The product worked perfectly. I didn't need an extra screen to preview my video output, it was all contained in one. Plus I was able to use the software switcher to perform various type of transitions. Its awesome.

This is a great compact switcher. Perfect for corporate and live concert multi camera and data switching. Simple to use either from the front panel or software interface. Having the aux bus is perfect for confidence monitor.

The atem works like a charm. My only issue is not having HDMI out. I think Blackmagic screwed up here. Most encoders are HDMI inputs.

I started out specifying equipment for our church to upgrade our switcher and camera and assorted equipment to move forward from the 1980's to today. I was looking at the ATEM 1 M/E as being sufficient for our needs. But then this unit was released. It addressed several things that the 1 M/E didn't. Namely it has a input selection buttons right on the front panel. This means I can replace our old switcher without having to have a large piece of hardware taking up space in our already cramped tech booth. Plus I don't have to train anyone on how to get the signal to show up on the screens. It's a direct plug and play. But it gives me so much more capability in what I can do. We will end up streaming a live feed, as well as local switching with this sub-$1000 unit. Fantastic! Couldn't be happier.

My church's 4-input SD analog video switcher died, so we decided to may the leap. Our consumer-grade cameras already had HDMI outs, as did the computer that displays the song lyrics for the congregation. We, obviously, connected those to the HDMI ins. Our more distant camera had RG6 run to their locations, so we used inexpensive BMD HDMI to SDI converters to connect them to the SDI ins. This has been an absolute joy to use. No surprizes. Everything worked exactly as expected. We are still learning some of the features, but we are beyond pleased. The quality of our streaming and Youtube videos is vastly improved over the analog we were using.

Great if you are using as a standalone unit with the PC control. It is terrible that Blackmagic does not offer any type of external control support for 3rd party control systems like Crestron. This would be really useful for integrating into small 2-3 camera setups.

I was looking for something powerful yet small, multi-faceted yet easy to learn. This unit checks off all the boxes. I'm able to switch between gopro, computer output, skype interviews from a dedicated laptop all on the fly and all live. I cannot recommend this unit highly enough. One downside is the inability to project the control panel to an ipad as it does the function through ethernet cable. Pags

The ATEM TV HD is a robustly featured video switch for the price, and I highly recommend it. It is great for smaller (up to 8 video inputs with a combination of 4 HDMI and 4 SDI) productions and I've used it for a number of events that don't require me to take out my ATEM 2 M/E or even a 1 M/E. Built-in coms and tally to camera operators (if you are using BM Studio or URSA mini cameras connected via SDI) are two big features that help make this a powerful all-in-one solution for small productions. Front panel buttons make it easy to switch without the expense of a hardware panel or the inconvenience of the software switcher. A truly remarkable product that has wide ranging application and tremendous flexibility.

This is a great unit for a multitude of applications, from a church to breakout rooms to live event when you have basic switching needs, and depending on what control you need, very expandable via laptop/hardware control or 3rd party hardware, but works well standalone.

Awesome little machine, worked perfectly out of the box. One of the few technical items I've purchased that didn't require any time to comprehend. If you understand basic video switchers then this one is a no brainer. So far I am very very happy.
