works good
Does the job wiht with my BlackMagic Pro. i've had limitted tesgtingi with this ss I recentl got it. f works best with SDI at both ends (camera and P'C) any other mix didn't' work foe me, but I had limited testing time. I've also used the Magwell equivalent which has worked well for me.

Easy setup and running
Day 2 and it's working great! Super easy software install and setup. Working seamlessly with all of my hardware, great that it only has one cable in and one cable out, no extra power needs. Video quality seems great.

Amazing Product
I'm very pleased with this product. It is very compact, and set up was straight forward.
I connected it to a windows laptop with thunderbolt 3 port, and connected the video source via SDI.
The video source was recognized in OBS, and streaming works perfect.

Excellent Hardware - Picky with Software
The Ultrastudio Recorder 3G is an excellent piece of equipment - the only thing to note is that the correct software and drivers must be installed. If you have trouble I would suggest using an earlier version of the software after a full uninstall and restart of your PC or MAC. Once the correct version is installed it always works flawlessly.

Works like a dream!
Works like a dream! Once I got it set up (I had to call customer support) - because I couldn?t figure out the drivers - it was sooo easy to make it work. Love this equipment!

Bad audio issues
Very bad audio issues. We cannot get the audio to work and it's a known issue across the internet. I called Blackmagic and they act like it's the first time they've heard this.

Not working like the older model did
It works fine after it gets the video source turned on/off a couple times otherwise it’s lots of static. Not like the previous model, the T2 model didn’t do thus. Not sure if this is expected since the video source equipment is older, considering exchanging for another of same model.

Good solid video capture device with a great price point.
Solid product so far with no technical issues. Thunderbolt 3 is limiting but it allows for a great price point so it's a good compromise if you have a decently new computer.
Only reason why I'm not giving it 5 five stars, and this may be due to something technical issue on my end, is that I can't seem to use the device for only audio capture (ie connecting a camera that has audio running into). I tried using Resolve, Quicktime, and Audacity and unless you are capturing video you can't seem to be able to extract just an audio feed.
That being said it is working great for what I needed for, which is to interface with online video conferencing software such as Zoom and Skype. Skype still has a bug in it which requires a hack in order to connect any external camera so if you are having issues connecting to Skype, google it and you will find the solution. It's not the adapter's issue. It does work straight out of the box, after installing the firmware, with Zoom, quicktime, etc.

Great hardware. Cable not included.
Super solid, just like the Thunderbolt 2 unit I used previously. I’ve tried USB capture devices from other companies but the quality and consistency of this one wins out. I do wish it came with a thunderbolt cable included, though. Even a short one would be OK.
Side note: I had a strange issue in OBS when I set this up as a capture device, though that might just be the software. The capture screen would sometimes turn green, but could be easily fixed by opening up the source settings, changing the resolution, and then changing it back again.

Highly Recommended. Sturdy, solid, reliable.
Very solid and well built piece. Surprisingly heavy. All the connections are solid. Software works well. I would love for it to be able to display on an iPad, but it works great on the computer (Ran on a MacBook and an iMac).

Hot little box to live stream your DSLR with.
It works great! Just make sure you have a Thunderbold 3 cable. It also generates a little heat but not that bad. Great for live streaming with your DSLR.

Good box but needs to auto-sense inputs
It does what it is supposed to do but there are two things I wish they could improve:
1) You have to select the exact input resolution and frame rate or it doesn’t work.
2) You have to go and select the input in their software (HDMI vs SDI)
How about making it auto-sense these things so It’s true plug and play? AJA the competition has done this...

This new UltraStudio Recorder is a nice upgrade for USB-C Thunderbolt 3. Works like a charm. Note that the Thunderbolt cable is not included.

Blackmagic Ultrasudio Recorder 3G - thunderbolt 3
We are blown away with this! Stream quality is through the roof and much improved over Blackmagic's WebPresenter. I love that it creates a list of selectable resolution qualities to choose from and integrates just as the web presenter did but a much better price point! AMAZING - it is powered by thunderbolt 3 and does not need additional power. It did need a driver installed to be recognized (Blackmagic's desktop video 11.6) however I am really glad to have this and am ordering more for the kit!

Compatibility issues
It did not work properly with my Sony PXW-100 for GoPro. So I will be getting the Blackmagic mini cinema camera, ATEM Mini Pro, and Blackmagic Video Assist package instead.
I think is will be nice to list devices that are not compatible with it.
