Good sound. Poor connectivity and usability.

If you plan to buy a single speaker, then I can say go ahead and purchase. If you are looking for a speaker system to have multiple speakers connected, playing in unison, look elsewhere. I spend more time trying to connect these speakers (aa stereo pair) to a computer than time actually playing music through the speakers.

Sounds good but usability awful

Bought as a gift and fairly easy to set up. Been using for about 6 months and I am now ready for throwing it through window. Works when it wants, finds wi fi when it feels like it (I don’t seem to have problems with other WiFi gadgets so I’m sure network is good) and iPhone app awkward to use.

Truly awful experience

Bought two to pair. The sneakers are decent but the software is truly awful. constantly updating which means you can’t play music. Updates can rake hours and you frequently need to unpair the speakers just to get anything to work. Will not buy any more Bose products on this basis.

Worst software ever!

Bought atleast a year ago, couldn't use for more than a month in total. Connectivity keeps crashing, no easy update process! Wors* Android application. This speaker is just a box of ga*bage for me. Wasted lot of money to buy this.

Avoid

Like many people, if you search online, the problem is the speaker loses its connection and you have to go through a tortuous connection sequence every few times you use it, so you end up not using it. Bose seem to think it’s a router problem, but are completely out of touch with reality. Problem has been around for ages and Bose seem unable to fix it . AVOID.

The app needs better features more user friendly

The speaker drops out of range or drops connection too easily then it takes ages to get it re connected and running again. Sound is great once going but stressful to get it to keep working and connection is bad. App needs to be updated

Losing WiFi connection constantly

What a disappointment!! The sound is great but the device loses the WiFi connection all the time!!! I have to unplug it for 30 seconds to a minute for it to find the WiFi again. It's a pain....I won't buy any Bose device anymore.....

2nd Bose and thing happening

The orange light comes on mid song and I have to plug it out and turn it on again it works for maybe 15 mins and then the same happens. I tried to reset it loads of times but this has been happening over and over. Bose said they would recommend I pay for it to be fixed. I don’t agree with this I hardly ever use my speaker it’s almost brand new and all software up to date. Very annoying and I know a few people that this has happened to with the same speaker!

Airplay App is game changer

I have 3 speakers and couldn’t connect them thruSoundTouch app. Been with Bose service rep fee times but had connectivity issues. Since air play app no issues and I am loving it and my house is rocking with good quality sound from Bose

Unexpected sound quality

I have been using it since last 6 months. The sound quality is good. There's only one drawback that "the power needs to be plugged-in, No batteries" it makes mobility difficult Better invest in some other products which can be used without plugged-in.

Airplay 2 has changed the game

It's a great speaker, Airplay 2 has changed the game! The sound quality is amazing! although it gets extremely dirty really fast so you have to constantly clean it (the white color)

Great speakers rubbish app!

The speakers are fantastic but the app is rubbish, it seems to no need to be re-installed on a daily basis & even then it doesn't work properly. I will never buy another Bose product again

Insane Sounds !!

It is unbelievable for a small speaker. Crystal clear sounds it creates and premium made. The app has great features and well made. 60% volume is enough to just blow you away. The reaon i always put my trust on BOSE products and never disappoints.

What A Disappointment!

In 1976 I bought my first pair of Bose 901 speakers. There’s nothing like the sound of a Bose speaker and I’ve been a loyal customer for many years. Going wireless my first speaker was the Soundlink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II and it blew me away. Unfortunately it’s a portable, not Wi-Fi and you can’t expand it by adding multiple speakers for the home; I highly recommend it as a great travel speaker. Looking for the same quality, I purchased “4” SoundTouch 10 speakers. I purposely held off writing a review of the speakers specifically until I spent sufficient time listening to them. Also, in order to use the speakers you have to use the SoundTouch App so I really wanted to evaluate both and give a solid review. Out of the box the speakers are solid, durable and look well made. The design is simple and works well in any home. The top of the speaker is poorly designed, cluttered with a lot of unnecessary buttons you’ll never use; the same buttons are in the app and that’s where you’ll actually appreciate them. In order to set up each speaker you have to download the SoundTouch app. Following what appears to be simple instructions will soon turn into a nightmare. Some speakers connect easily while others don’t. My speakers are connected to my computer via a router and although one speaker connects another will not. Bose support will blame you, your home, your router, firewalls and your internet provider. They will not take any responsibility for the product and don’t be surprised if they disconnect the call. I restarted my computer and router several times but didn’t have much luck. After 5 hours and making numerous attempts I finally got them to work; I don’t know what made them work, it’s a mystery. The success of set-up is dependent on the app and it’s awful; it’s dated in functionality and appearance; looking like it was designed by a fifth grader. There’s also the compatibility issue and that’s really a SoundTouch app issue as well. If you are steaming music you don’t have anything to worry about but if you are accessing your music library, you are in big trouble. The app is really bad but you are stuck using it and there’s no way of getting around it. Also, the app has minimal functionality to adjust sound quality. Speakers sound differently in each room and you cannot make any adjustments other than bass reduction and balance; the app is in total control of how you listen to music. I’d like to reiterate the sound quality of these speakers is very good but the SoundTouch app controls them. Bose is a speaker company and a great one but they have not built a reliable user-friendly app that works to support the product. My speakers only work sometimes and I never know which ones are going to work and when. I’m constantly reinstalling them and they are unreliable; a simple reinstall can take a couple of minutes or hours. Honestly, I’d like to throw them in the trash and buy something else. I’m sure I’d be sacrificing sound quality but I’d like something more reliable and being valued as a customer.

Sound and features of this speaker are the bomb!

I bought this Bose SoundTouch 10 wireless speaker as a Christmas gift. It has been in use on a daily basis providing excellent sound and music quality to our family. It connects directly with our Amazon Echo dot and enables us to play almost anything we wish, whenever we want! Great gift at an affordable price!

great speaker. worst software to set up

I have th speaker as a gift. Downloaded the app and it only lets you set up under wifi ( a network). I just want to set up using blue tooth. Sound is great. I can't find any info to help me with setting ups presets App is useless. just power up the speaker and connect with blue tooth I will let you know if i can figure out how to work the presets

Happy wife happy life.

Gift for my wife. Great product. Louder than I thought it would be and music is clear. Great price and delivered promptly. I bought 4 for the house. Like that you can move them around the house or patio just need an outlet.

Love my Soundtouch 10s

I've owned a Bose sound touch 10 for 2 years. 6 months ago I bought a 2nd one to run as a pair. After updating both to make sure they had the same firmware, both connected and were easy to create a group. Some people have complained about sound quality but I have had 0 issues, mine sound great. There are a couple of things to consider when using/placing these speakers: 1) these speakers are not designed to crank music in big rooms. Average living room, kitchen, bedroom, they should perform well 2) these speakers have a rear sound port. If you want rich/deep lows you cannot place them on an end table in the middle of a room. For best results corner load them, at a minimum have them 2-4 inches from a wall. Also experiment with their placement as with ANY speaker the sweet spot will be relative to where they are placed. If you place as I have directed, then move around the room, you will see that the sound will change as you move and there will be a spot where the sound is the richest. This is due to the sound wave lengths and where you ear is relative to the crest or trough of the base sound wave. You may have to experiment and move the speaker around your room so the sound is better at your desired listening spot. The sound touch app is simple and clean. Almost too basic but I love being able to access/play my spotify and satellite radio accounts through the speakers. The bluetooth capability is good, and I love the 6 presets so I can save my favorite online radio stations. I love my speakers so much I bought 2 more to add to my network.

Good sound... The worst software on the market

Yes you will likely figure out how o get this working eventually. And then there will be an update, or just a random occurrence that puts you right back at square one. This speaker shuts off without warning, disconnects without warning, and resets itself without warning.. among other issues.. It is without doubt the worst purchase of a sound system I have ever made. Just to clarify, I have contacted Bose 3 times by phone to address the issues, nothing was ever solved. Ive had the speakers for 2 years now.. Never again will I buy bose.

Great sound. Beautiful style. Solid construction

Overall, the sound quality is very high, providing a large speaker impression. However, I found that software and connectivity issues exist. Not unsolvable, but definitely not quick and easy to fix. So this review shows what I went through to connect my Bose Soundtouch 10 to my Windows 10 Pro desktop (note: no issues using bluetooth on my iPhone and Galaxy phones.) I know this is an old speaker and not well supported anymore, but it is a good speaker and worth keeping connected: After upgrading my Windows 10 Pro desktop PC from 32bit to 64bit architecture, I couldn’t reconnect the Soundtouch 10. Turns out, the speaker wasn’t connecting via Bluetooth (my iPhone and Galaxy phones had no Bluetooth problems.) Here’s what I did to get the speaker connected to the PC: 1. I downloaded the Bose Soundtouch 10 app to the PC, installed it and started it. 2. I turned on the speaker and connected it to the PC via a USB cable. 3. On the speaker, I then pressed the 2 key and the Vol – key simultaneously. 4. The app on the PC then requested the name of the WIFI network and password. 5. The app also requested signing into an existing Bose account, or creating a new account. 6. When done, the Soundtouch 10 app indicated that the speaker was now connected via WIFI and that it was OK to remove the USB cable. 7. To test the result, I started Spotify on the PC, changed the speaker device from PC to Bose, and the music played at the remote speaker via WIFI. One final test was to play a Spotify tune on my iPhone, connecting it to the speaker via Bluetooth. Success. As it took a long time to finally figure out that the Bluetooth connection from my PC to the Bose speaker wasn’t going to work and the WIFI connection would, I hope this may be helpful to others with a similar issue.

2 - ST 10 Speakers Great but...

I bought 1 Bose ST 10 and liked it so much that I bought another. I learned that in order to successfully 'group' 2 or more ST 10 speakers, certain settings in the router need to be applied. Forum member Hector_B supplies the settings on the Bose community forums here: https://community.bose.com/t5/Smart-Home/Bose-SoundTouch-not-working-with-ASUS-RT-AC3200-Wi-Fi-router/m-p/242104 (I reduced my 'Ease of Setup' rating because I feel that there should have been some mention of router settings in the documentation.) With the router settings in place the speakers now play Pandora, TuneIn stations, as well as music files on my computer in unison or separately in two different rooms. With the SoundTouch software and I can control everything from my laptop or desktop. I love the whole package.
