I got this as a gift a few years ago and the sound is amazing. This speaker has the looks as well great style. I just wish there was more base in this style of speaker. I want to feel the music more. Overall great speaker

I bought this to replace an old 30-pin portable dock, fully expecting to return it, as I didn't *really* need it. But once I popped my iPhone in and tried it out - no way is it going back! From Einaudi though Alicia Keys through Matrix, everything sounds *amazing*. Really impressed - as a fitness instructor I have plenty of sound systems of all shapes sizes and brands, and the sound quality on this is the best by a long shot.

This is a really great sound system - small and resonant! Also a sleek and attractive design to fit our NYC space concerns. Love it!

I bought this to play music from my iPod. It does it well. I like the sound. And that it charges the iPod at the same time. I suggest an ON/OFF button or switch on the front or top would be helpful, rather than having to unplug it from the back every time.

Ever since the first day I became a bose fan, Sounddock has always had a special place in my heart: Two full-range speakers plus a waveguide module, you get the richest, fullest sound in the world from speaker this size. From Sounddock Gen I to Sounddock Portable, from Sounddock Gen II to Sounddock 10, I built my own SoundDock family for my listening pleasure. When this model comes out I immediately let loose of my wallet and grabs it without hesitation, but instead it turns out to be a HUGE disappointment. Bass lacks body and punch, mids are muffled and highs are a mess. I eventually returned it. BTW this model doesn't seem to have waveguide module inside.

When I bought I thought it came with a remote control and I prefer to have a remote just like my other Bose Docking speakers

I bought this with birthday money nearly two years ago now and my dock is still working to a fantastic standard, making my music sound quality every time. The AUX port is also really useful. Efficient and so easy to use and travel light! Highly recommend this product!

I admit I am a Bose fan with over a half dozen products, so it wasn't a hard decision when my wife and I wanted to add some more sound to one of our rooms. I already have the SoundDock II, and with the Apple 30-pin to Lightning adapter, that old SoundDock II now plays my latest generation iPod with the 9.2.1 OS...and it charges it. But in some ways I like the XT even more. Why? First, it is around $100 less. Second, the sound is high quality but not being a big bass fan, I found this has less bass than the SoundDock II, probably because it may have smaller speakers. I never like battery-run devices when an electric one is available, so like the SoundDock II this XT runs right from the wall...no batteries to worry about charging or replacing. Plus, this is a very portable unit...it is lightweight and you can simply pick it up and move it. Also, I never use my remote too much on my SoundDock II, so just having simple volume up and down buttons on the XT is fine with me. With the SoundDock III, there are no buttons, so if you lose your remote, you cannot adjust volume on that model. Of course, if a person likes bass or treble more, you can adjust that on this SoundDock, like other SoundDocks, by simply adjusting the EQ in your iTunes library or device. Finally, some people say they can't fit this on with their case. Well, when your iPod or iPhone is in the dock, it doesn't need protecting, so I use it as it is supposed to be used, without the case. I also find it is easier for me to control the device operations without a protective case. All in all, an excellent product at a fair price...with solid Bose sound. I'm quite happy with the XT.

I bought it as a Christmas present to me but initially was disappointed by no remote, however once you sit back and listen to your music it's simplicity of operation and absolute sound quality that you would expect from a much larger and more expensive device, you forget about the remote.

Sound is great for the device of such size. It is perfect for a small room. I bought it to replace micro JBL that was almost 5 years old and I had to use an adapter from 30-pin to lightning connection. Together with iPod it serves as a bed-side-music/radio/alarm-station. I live outside of my home country, so having it set like that gives me a feeling of home/base in my rented apartment.

This speaker has relatively good sound for a small tethered dock. It has no battery and no Bluetooth audio support, meaning it's tethered to power, and any device must be docked to it. Incidentally any iPhone with a case doesn't fit the connector without the case being removed. It performs the job we purchased it for but in a very minimally viable fashion.

I love it and it has a great sound, best docking station that I have ever bought, but disappointed that it did not come with remote control, its a pain to keep turning the volume up or down. I would buy this again only if it comes out with one.

Beautiful crisp sound and good range of volume and great price. No remote, which I'm quite disappointed about and which may result in returning the SoundDock...

This product is really amasing because we have the encredible sound of Bose. We don't necessarily need to physically put the IPod/IPhone in the sounddock we can plug it with a aux wire so we can play while playing music or to plug or IPad or other electronic devices. Its really great we have a clear and rich sound at any volume. The little bad thing in it is the fact that it emet a bit of radioactivity while using it. But in general it's a really good and affordable sounddock. Buy it !

I love my Bose SoundDock. It is so easy to snap my iphone on and have instant music. Easy to attach my lap top and again, instant fabulous sound. I teach workshops and use music. This is totally portable. I got exactly what I hoped to have for an amazing price.

This nice attractive dock offers a really great sound for it size. Its really powerful sound just fills the house. It's a nice size, not too big or small. I do, however, have to remove my case in order to connect my iPhone 5 to the unit....it would of been nice to have a Bluetooth feature....didn't think about that when I bought it. I got the white with grey colour. Just saw a Bluetooth adaptor for the Bose sound dock....my consider that.

This does have great sound, but we bought it for our kids and they simply don't use it because the iPod has to be physically docked in order to play music and it is not practical for them to do that unless they have it right beside them (so they can pick songs, etc). Bluetooth adapters are available, but we didn't factor that into the cost.

World's most expensive phone charger. Cannot understand lyrics because there is no balance. No way to make adjustments. Thumping bass is about the size of it. Don't waste money! Trying to return mine to Best Buys.

I was so thrilled to get this for Christmas in 2014 along with my IPOD Nano. No sound issues and had Nano replaced as it was under warranty. Now, 2 weeks later, same exact thing---no sound. Both times the Nano had sound with my earbuds but not on docking station. I suspect its the Bose that is damaging my Nano. So frustrating!

Bought off Amazon. I own two previous generations of 30 pin SoundDocks. Though this does not seem to have the full range of those it is a much lower price point and I doubt you'd find sound quality like this in such a small unobtrusive footprint. Highs and lows are all there and it fills the room. Lack of remote and battery not a showstopper for me.

Had the unit for 3 months. Loved it. Suddenly it stopped charging and playing. Not sure if it is the Bose connection to the phone or the phone side, but I still can charge the Iphone with my power cord. Bought on Amazon, doubt I'll get any satisfaction, but will try.

This product sounds great and love every bit of it except for the docking. I have to remove my case to allow it to fit on the docking station. I wish it was extended to fit most phone cases.

The Bose SoundDock XT White/Dark Gray Speaker for iPod and iPhone allows you to interface your Lightning-connector-equipped iPhone or iPod for audio playback and charging. This model incorporates Bose digital signal processing to produce full-range sound quality from its compact design. For connecting additional audio sources such as MP3 players, a 3.5mm auxiliary port is onboard. On-speaker volume buttons allow you to easily adjust the volume of your music directly from the SoundDock XT.
A compact performer
On the outside the SoundDock XT speaker features a unique visual appearance. On the inside Bose digital signal processing and acoustic design produce the kind of full sound you'd expect from a larger, more expensive system. The integrated dock gives the speaker a small footprint, so it takes up minimal space. And it's lightweight, so you can easily move it from one spot to another.
Playtime is any time
You can enjoy hours of uninterrupted music from your iPhone or iPod. The SoundDock XT speaker charges your device whenever it's docked and plugged into a wall outlet, even while your songs are playing. The system features volume control buttons-and you control all other functions from your device.
Add to your entertainment
A 3.5mm auxiliary port lets you connect other devices, such as a tablet, laptop, CD player or other mobile device, to get the most from all of your music.
Works with the newest iPod and iPhone models
This system is compatible with iPod and iPhone models with an Apple Lightning connector (eight-pin connector), introduced in 2012 or later.
