The subwoofer is reasonably compact in size but very weighty. It immediately feels like a premium piece of kit, consistent with Bose's sleek and stylish aesthetic: understated, solid, well made. As with the soundbar, setup through the Bose app was straightforward. It connects easily to the Ultra soundbar and the whole process is very much plug-and-play. I'm not especially tech-savvy, so that simplicity is genuinely appreciated. And I suspect I'm not alone in wanting genuinely high-quality sound without needing to be an avid subscriber of super-technical audio magazines. The real impact, though, is in the sound. This adds an extraordinary sense of depth and bass presence across films, sport and anything which screams 'spectacle'. Everything feels bigger and more immersive. Even 'The Antiques Roadshow' sounds like a major broadcast event. One word of caution, however: it is very powerful in its delivery. If you live in a top-floor flat (like I do) with neighbours below, it may be worth checking they're out before you properly put it through its paces!

The Bose Lifestyle Ultra subwoofer is extremely impressive - I was pretty shocked by just how powerful it is. To give an idea, I live in a flat and have had to turn down the EQ to -2 in order for it to not be overpowering. If you live in a house and have a big room that you want to put these speakers in, I have no doubt the subwoofer will easily fill any room with as booming a bass as you want!! It provides excellent depth to sound, whether you are playing music or watching movies. Would highly recommend.

Had this for a month using with the tv , sound bar and my two speakers, now the bass of this subwoofer is incredible , you can feel the vibrations of this bass anyway in the front room when watching series or movie and the way it works with the set is amazing , making a more immersive cinema feeling experience from your own couch . Pros - amazing clear bass port technology allows to eliminate any unwanted bass or vibrations with the ai systems - 10 inch driver to help stop any muddy sounding bass , allowing it to matches exact audio playing - the way it connects wirelessly with the other set up pretends the messy jumble of cables everywhere in the room, making it clean and placeable anywhere Cons - I'm little upset it has a lot like EQ controls than the other devices to adjust the sounds to what you want fully - it's extremely heavy and slippery without any support such as a handle to move around, scary to move it without the thought of it dropping out your arms - this device will only work with other Bose products making it a more locked in ecosystem -pricing does seem a little high for this product comparing to the performance of what they can do In all, this is a perfect little last edition to the full set to enjoy those fun action packed or spooky horror night movies with the right level of ambience and the feeling in your chest when banging along to rock or metal music is worth the grab

The icing on the cake of your home cinema sound setup. It also works great with the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar. I'm a kid of the late seventies and early eighties with a slight hearing problem (probably due to the volume of the many concerts I attended). Complicated setups are not my thing, but this was plug in and turn the volume up. WOW is all I can say. No CONS, all good stuff

This is a great addition to the Lifestyle Soundbar and I would definitely recommend it if you are planning a home theatre set up. It was really easy to connect to the soundbar and the speakers via the app. You will need to update it immediately after connecting but this didn't take too long to do. In the app you can make adjustments to the base level, I did end up increasing it to suit my tastes. It brings a new dimension whether listening to music or watching a movie as it adds a lot of depth and oomph. You can hear its full potential when you do the sound test and use the demo in the app and witness how much difference it adds to the experience and how it really helps to bounce the sound around the room. The sub looks really nice in our living room, it compliments our decor and I like that it matches with the rest of the Lifestyle HomeKit.

As someone who is into action films and a wide range of music, this unit is an integral part of my lifestyle home theatre system. The unit itself arrived well packaged and was very easy to set up via the Bose app and integrate with the other speakers. It is surprisingly heavy, looks great, and feels like it has a superb build quality. What strikes me most about this subwoofer is not the very powerful bass volume which it can produce, but the depth and sharpness of different bass tones. It produces a stunningly clear audio quality which I can really feel, truly making my living room more like a cinema. Even straight out of the box the audio is amazing, however using the in app 'CustomTune' and other adjustment features takes this to the next level. Every time I play another film or music track, this product never ceases to impress me.

The subwoofer is the perfect accompaniment to the ultra lifestyle soundbar but you might not need it?I say that because of the levels of bass the soundbar is capable of producing on its own, so if you live in a flat or have close neighbours who can get upset with loud noise then it may not be for you. The subwoofer adds a level of warm, deep, thunderous bass that Bose speakers are known for. At higher volumes the subwoofer makes bass that can be felt as much as it is heard. During films the action sequences are brought to life with deep low frequencies perfectly reproduced. When streaming music through Spotify connect your favourite tunes are given deep warm bass that you will love. As for the appearance, the subwoofer blends perfectly with the wider lifestyle ultra range with a matching glass cover to the soundbar. Other than that it is a very heavy discrete black box. Speaking of the weight, this is a heavy speaker so it needs to be mounted on the floor and wouldn't be suitable for shelves or similar. Thankfully Bose had the foresight to ship it in a cloth bag with handles to enable you to lift it from the box it comes in. A nice touch reminding you that this is a premium product. Setting up the subwoofer is a doddle, linking with the soundbar via the app seamlessly. Other considerations are that it needs to be plugged into a power socket, think about this when looking at investing in the subwoofer as it could limit your options or leave you needing to trail power cords. The AC lead is roughly a metre long. Overall I would recommend the subwoofer to those wanting rich, clear, warm bass to accompany the soundbar although your neighbours might not be as impressed.

I am very disappointed with Bose. I purchased a Lifestyle Subwoofer and Lifestyle Speakers, expecting them to work with my Smart Ultra Soundbar and my existing Bose speakers. Unfortunately, I later discovered that they are not compatible for use with my TV setup. Bose representatives only informed me of this after I had already made the purchase. Bose's advertising does not clearly explain these compatibility limitations, which can easily mislead customers. At this time, I cannot afford to buy a Lifestyle Soundbar, which costs approximately AUD $1,700. Sadly, I have no choice but to return the Lifestyle Subwoofer, even though it was the product I was most excited about and really wanted to keep.

I really love how it completes the experience with the sound bar I already had, so ready for Bose update offer to update my existing sound bar to its latest model so I can finally pair them wirelessly!! That's the only thing I hate about it, not being capable of pair with older models unless is via cable

What a punch!! The feel of the bass put hairs on the back of your neck! When connected with the sound bar and speakers it brings the room to life! It's so immersive you really feel like your at the movies from the comfort of your living room it definitely adds a real good finish on the home cinema set a really nice addition to bring it all together

As Bose customers for several decades I have been so pleased with my Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer. My first impression was "wow, that looks cool". It even lifted out of its box in a fabric handled bag which made placement effortless. Aesthetically it is leaps ahead of our previous Bose subwoofer with its sleek glass top, wireless compatibility with the rest of the home cinema system, and deep, deep sound quality. It makes watching a blockbuster movie such a family treat. Similarly when I play my music I am immersed in rich tones and base, all of which I can adjust using the Bose app at the flick of a button. This has certainly enhanced the look of my room and I am proud to display all the home cinema Bose pieces because of the quality they exude.

Bose Bass Module Review Rating: 5/5 About Me I'm 47, married, work full-time and spend most of my leisure time enjoying science-fiction films, action movies, gaming on PS5 and listening to music. I tested the Bose Bass Module as part of the complete Bose Smart Ultra ecosystem alongside the Smart Ultra Soundbar and Bose Surround Speakers. First Impressions The Bass Module immediately feels like a serious piece of equipment. It is substantial, surprisingly heavy and beautifully finished. Like the Smart Ultra soundbar, it gives the impression of a premium product from the moment it is unboxed. Its size strikes a good balance. Large enough to suggest serious performance, but not so large that it dominates the room. It looks elegant, feels exceptionally well built and integrates visually with the rest of the Bose ecosystem. Setup Experience After some initial setup frustrations elsewhere in the ecosystem, I was relieved to find the Bass Module straightforward to add. Once connected, it immediately became clear why Bose considers it such an important part of the overall system. Performance The easiest way to describe the Bass Module is this: It completes the soundbar. The Smart Ultra soundbar is excellent on its own. Dialogue is superb. Music is detailed. Films sound impressive. However, after several days with the soundbar alone, there was always a feeling that something was missing. Not because the soundbar lacked quality. Simply because it deserved more low-end authority. The Bass Module delivers exactly that. It provides the weight, scale and physical presence that turns an excellent soundbar into a genuinely cinematic system. The difference is immediate. And once experienced, it would be difficult to go back. Movies This is where the Bass Module truly shines. Films such as: * Dune * Dune: Part Two * Blade Runner * Blade Runner 2049 were transformed. The worm caller sequence in Dune was a standout moment. The Bass Module didn't simply add noise. It added pressure. Tension. Scale. The room felt larger. Scenes felt more immersive. The low frequencies became something you could feel as well as hear. Importantly, the bass remained controlled throughout. At no point did it feel boomy or detached from the rest of the system. It integrated naturally into the presentation. Music Performance The biggest surprise was how much the Bass Module improved music. I expected better bass. What I wasn't expecting was how much it improved the overall listening experience. Tracks including: * Daft Punk - The Son of Flynn * Justice - Genesis * Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Mix) * Genesis - Follow You Follow Me * Hans Zimmer - No Time For Caution all benefited enormously. The additional weight and authority gave music a physical presence that simply wasn't there with the soundbar alone. This was particularly noticeable with electronic music and film scores. The Bass Module brought excitement, energy and scale without overwhelming the rest of the mix. Gaming Performance Gaming on PS5 also benefited significantly. Playing The Division 2: * Explosions carried genuine impact. * Weapons felt more powerful. * Environmental effects gained scale. * The overall presentation became more immersive. The Bass Module adds another layer of realism to gaming without becoming distracting. The Most Important Observation The biggest compliment I can give the Bass Module is that it changed my opinion of the system. Before it arrived, I thought: "The soundbar is excellent." After it arrived, I thought: "This is the system Bose intended people to hear." The Bass Module provides the missing "oomph". The missing authority. The missing physicality. It is the component that turns admiration into excitement. Final Verdict If the Smart Ultra soundbar is the heart of the system, the Bass Module is its muscle. It adds scale, depth, weight and excitement to everything it touches. Unlike the surround speakers, which add immersion, the Bass Module delivers an immediate and unmistakable improvement. For me, it is the single most transformative upgrade in the entire ecosystem. Pros * Exceptional bass performance * Deep, controlled low frequencies * Dramatically improves films * Excellent for gaming * Transforms music listening * Integrates seamlessly with the soundbar * Premium build quality Cons * Once you've heard it, it's impossible to go back to the soundbar alone * Requires floor space Would I recommend it? Without hesitation. The Smart Ultra soundbar is excellent on its own, but the Bass Module is what gives it the authority, excitement and physical presence it deserves. For anyone considering the Smart Ultra ecosystem, I would regard the Bass Module as essential rather than optional.

The system has been created over the last few weeks and the last but not least item to be added was the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Sub-woofer. Normally a sub-woofer seems to be a bit of a one-trick-pony, not on this occasion. A cube shaped (More aesthetically pleasing than other - shoebox shaped subs) with that same gorgeous finish as the soundbar. No Fabric in this instance, but I expect that comes down to what a sub is doing within the system. Adding the sub to the cinema system was once again, very straight forward, no wires, no complex setups, just a plug in, app open, add to the system and off we go. Connectivity is straightforward in that it's either a wireless or wired connection from the Soundbar to the sub using the Bose bass module connection cable, available separately. Once the sub showed up in the app, along with the ultra speakers, I could see little bell icons which allowed me to identify each. Clicking on each, I got a nice little sound from the speakers and then the floor beneath me shuddered as I clicked the sub, not that sickening bass that overwhelms, but a solid, deep and driven base with absolutely no distortion, in fact I'd say it was the cleanest sound sub I've heard. Accessible through the app, the 1-10 setting level again gives a lot of diversity in how you setup your sub, how you set your level of sub expectation is flexible and goes from a gentle "Whomp" through to "Can someone please tell me if there is a mountain parked in my back garden, thanks" To reiterate, this is not your garish sub, it is resonant and clean, when using the custom settings for your room, the profile can change, depending on how your room is setup, still having that app modification still gives you flexibility that you need. As a complete system, Bose have certainly put their marker out into the field, "This is Bose"

Subwoofer comes in a white cloth bag so you can pull out the product pretty seamlessly. Super easy to configure, you basically press one button. When you test the subwoofer, you can feel it in your bones, which I love. Also, great to listen to when you run the demo. Love this with my videogaming (I use ps5) and epic films.

This subwoofer exceeded every expectation. The bass is incredibly deep, powerful, and clean - it honestly feels like sitting in a surround sound movie theater or front row at a live concert. Every explosion, soundtrack, and beat comes to life with rich, room-shaking sound without losing clarity. It completely transformed my home theater setup into a true immersive audio experience. Highly recommended for anyone who loves cinematic sound and music with real impact

Adds thrills to movie night! The sub really brings the action into the room. For music you'd swear there was a string bass player in the corner

Adding this subwoofer to my home theater makes me feel like I'm at the actual movie theater or at the club, in a good way! This subwoofer completes and fills the room with sound. You can feel the depth and vibrations of the music you're listening to or the explosion from a movie as if it's happening right in your own living room. Definitely worth getting if you want to elevate your experience.

The Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer did replace our previous subwoofer, which was purchased with the Bose CineMate Soundbar. Placement was consistent with the previous subwoofer and connections were easily made through the Bose app. We used the Bose app for all tuning mechanisms to gain calibrated surround sound.

The bass module adds a lot of depth and power to the full home theater setup. It gives movies, shows, music, and games a fuller sound without needing to turn the volume up too high. I especially noticed the difference with action movies, sci-fi content, and gaming. Explosions, music, dramatic scenes, and low-end effects feel much more powerful and cinematic. It makes the room feel larger and gives the whole system more presence. What I like most is that the bass feels strong but still controlled. It adds impact without constantly overpowering dialogue or making everything sound muddy. When balanced correctly in the app, it supports the rest of the system instead of taking over the mix. The design is also clean and premium. It fits well with the rest of the setup and does not look out of place in a living room. My only real criticism is that the setup process through the app could be smoother. Like the rear speakers, the bass module had some connectivity issues during the initial setup process. The app's troubleshooting helped, but the connection flow could feel more clear and confidence-building. Once connected, the bass module made a huge difference. It is one of the pieces that turns the system from "good speakers" into a real home theater experience.

I don't know how you could have a surround sound system without this thing. It's a hefty piece of tech that is well worth adding to your setup. Don't be fooled, this thing is heavy. For a good reason. Unboxing was a bit tricky but keep an eye out for the handles on the bag! I missed them so clumsily unpacked it, but Bose was nice enough to put it in a cloth bag for easier unboxing and placement. On initial pairing with the rest of the system, and pinging it from the Bose app), it shook the whole house and moved maybe an inch. It was silly, but I did press that button a few times just for the joy of the feel. Brought back some drumline memories when I could feel the bass in my sternum... Anyways... After having owned a SoundTouch 300 Bass Module for almost 10 years, this thing felt like a massive upgrade. The depth of the bass immediately felt fuller. Music, video games, movies, we felt it all (even occasionally two floors up). It's a hefty, heavy piece of kit but well worth adding to feel that Dolby Atmos mix that accompanies most media these days.
