I just can't get over the fact that this is weaker, with less coverage than the on-camera flash. The D3400 has a great flash, but any shoe flash should be better.

At the price you don't expect bells and whistles but a solid performing basic flash unit. The Bowser SFD728C delivers all that.

As with anything, the quality of your photos will vary with the level of your skill. If you even halfway know how to use bounce flash (and if you don't, PLEASE DO LEARN!) this unit will do a fantastic job of getting the best results your skill level can possibly achieve.

Great flash for my level of photography! It works easy, the batteries last a long time (surprisingly), easy to attach to camera. Highly recommend if you're a starter with flash!

I was disappointed in how quickly the batteries died with this flash.

This product wasn't full of buttons and switches. I just want to pick a distance and shoot and that's what this flash does. Bottom line: easy to operate. I love it.

When looking for an economical on-camera flash, I decided to try out this Bower unit. I knew it might not be as fancy as other brand name items, but it seemed to have the essential features I needed. It can be positioned in several ways, it has great flash output, and works well with my Nikon D7100. It does have light-feeling plastic construction that some might call cheap, but so far I have had no malfunctions. I intend to keep practicing my flash photography, and starting out with this Bower flash is a great way to learn.

I got this as a 2nd shoe mount flash to be used off-camera. It's a little less sturdy & lighter weight than my Canon flash, but it has served its purpose well thus far. I've only had it a couple of weeks. Other than a few test shots; I did a commercial shoot featuring jewelry. The flash performed as well as my Canon & since it's a secondary or backup flash, it's lighter weight is a plus. I would purchase this flash again.

Just picked this up to shoot my first wedding for an aquaintance, and it proved to be a work-horse. The wedding was outdoors at sunset and I wanted to use the dramatic sunsets their location was known for as the back-drop but the on-camera flash would never have cut it. Not wanting to carry my strobes and gear around, I opted for this unit for my Nikon D5100. It produced plenty of light for the fieldwork before, during and after sunset. I good basic flash that makes a solid addition to anyones accessory pack.

I"m a beginner. This flash is simple and works well for ceiling bounce. So, I'm happy. Its a bit big, so I don't carry it around much. My wish list would include a smaller version of the same, maybe with wireless or a cable so I can create some sidelight.

I needed a third flash for stand alone fill light. Works well with my other Nikon flash units.

If you are looking for an affordable, simple, lightweight flash, this is a great product. I needed one in a hurry and didn't have a lot of money, and this fit the bill. If you are looking for something more on the professional level, this doesn't have the additional functions and features you will need, but for everyday use, its great.

I really like this flash for the price and the functionality. Only had it two months, but ordered another one already. Using it with Cactus' wireless tranceiver kit for remote triggering, and it's given me amaazing results.

Looking for a back up I bought this flash intent on returning it if...., with only an on-off switch I was amazed at how reliable it is within its range. I soften the light with the right amount of matte finish scotch tape at the front of the flash and use the camera (iso etc) to make any adjustments. The light is pleasing too. Keeper.

Nice little flash for general use when lots of power and/or weight aren't necessary or desired. The size makes it a good carry-around flash for fills or as a 2nd or 3rd light in multi-light setups. This is a good TTL-compatible flash for beginners/consumers who don't want to spend $300+ for the name-brand units.

This flash wokred great for about a month, then stopped working for me. It will flash only once, and wont work again until I shut it off and turn it back on. And I am not the only one with this problem with this product!

I wanted to try this out as an inexpensive alternative to the canon speedlite line. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at it's performance. I thought it would be a backup and only used in an emergency, in case something happened to the speedlite. I am so happy I purchased this one first because I no longer feel the need to purchase the much more expensive flash. This is all I need and may just buy another as a backup. If you at all nervous about buying this in place of the more expensive line, don't be. This will fit the bill and be all you'll ever need in a flash.

It rotates up and down to bounce flash, but the midseam on the bottom plastic part started breaking and coming undone after a month. Very cheaply constructed and not durable, but gets the job done.
