I print packing slips for my customer's orders all day long, as well as occasionally printing out high-quality pictures using my printer's photo print setting. This ink (black and color) has never disappointed me. I've had my Brother MFC-J470DW printer for almost 10 years now, and it's been a vital tool in my office daily. It's sad that this model has been discontinued (years ago), and now I worry that at some point, they'll stop making the ink too. I hope not!

The ink order arrived the day before my print job. Installation is consistently straightforward and simple.

The printer is always running some type of cleaning or something of the sort. Whatever it is, uses up the ink. It is so frustrating to not have used the printer, only to go to use it and the cartridges are empty. I needed to print a return label before I head out of town, but can't as the black is empty. Printed just fine 2 weeks ago and I haven't used the printer since then. This is not something new and one reason I won't be purchasing a brother printer again. Never had this problem with another brand. It will even say they are empty when there is clearly ink in them. Now to figure out how to get a document printed before I leave for out of town.

Ever since Brother changed the cartridges to not having an orange plug the ink has not been working, I have tried two different cartridges and neither one work!

Now that Brother has discontinued the MFCs, it is trying to sell empty LC ink cartirdges or junk ink cartridges. My MFCJ4710DW worked just fine until I replaced the ink cartidges this week with authentic Brother brand LC103 ink cartridges, that came without the familiar orange and green keeper that must be removed before installation, from my local dealer. None of the new cartidges worked. My MFCJ4710DW says they are all empty. I've noticed other reviews on this page with the same complaint. Brother offers NO support! I have been unable to make any meaningful contact with Brother and no, chat doesn't count. Call 877-BROTHER, yeah, that's a joke too. An explanation is in order here.

When I first purchased the MFC J450DW the printer worked fine. Once it got passed a certain age I noticed that I was changing the ink even when it wasn't in use. I looked closely and found that the printer marked the cartridges as empty even when they are full. On further investigation I noticed that any new cartridge will be labeled "empty" after software updates. I have several "SETS" of ink that the printer will no longer take. All of them are full. I will not buy or recommend Brother products again.

I maybe got 50 pages out of the ink, beyond disappointing. My old Brother printer broke so bought a new one that takes this ink and it just eats the ink so quickly and the print quality isn't even good. The old Brother printer I had was amazing, ink lasted forever but they don't make that model anymore. And clearly the quality has gone way down.

While it says I can do 600 pages, and is advertised as a large cartridge capacity, I think it has done the same number of pages or maybe even less than the regular sized cartridge.

You should advise the customer that when doing a cleaning of the heads it will eat up all your ink. I just paid 45.00 for the LC 103BK XL and it drained my cartridge.

I own a MCF-J470DW. I was informed the high yield cartridges should allow printing of up to 600 pages. I have used 2 and a half cartridges on 1 500 ream of paper so far????

Up to 600 pages. Not even getting 50. Was told by the store clerk that you consider a page the size of a 3 x 5 index card. Who prints on the\at? A page is 8.5 x 11 How about a little clarity in advertising.

Bought this at office max today. When installing only 1/2 full. Always check cartridges before installing. My cyan and magenta was fine.

This is a great printer with a cable. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Brother, trying to diagnose the problem, uninstalling, reinstalling driver, setting up printer ETC. Our team has this printer as a home printer. Everyone has had the same problem using MAC computers to set up this printer on a wifi network. Apart from being an INK hog, I also have to do head cleaning periodically.

Shortly after purchase the screen would freeze, stating it was still communicating with computer. You can do nothing until you turn the unit off wait a minute and turn back on. Will work for a bit and then do it again. I have had the unit replaced and the replacement does the same thing. I have been told to use a short cable. This is inconvenient for my setup but I arranged it. It still does it. I have completely removed, uninstalled and reset everything, but still have the issue. Also for as big as the unit is, you have to feed any manual items in from the back. Items generally get jammed first time through but second time usually works.

I like the fact that I can scan 11"x17". This is bigger than most printer glass tops. It scans pretty good. But I don't like when I put in a 4"x6" photo in the "back chute", it is too easy to get it crooked. Once it is crooked I cannot pull the photo back out to straighten it before I print. (Maybe I need to reread my instructions. It needs a better guide so it won't go crooked. Pulling out the 8x11 paper is inconvenient to put photo paper in the front holder and resetting the guides. This also seems to use less ink, but I have not done a lot of printing.

Every feature I need is working well so far. I do have a lot of trouble clearing the paper jam notification. I actually have not had any paper jam, but the printer thinks I have. I follow the help sequence on the display screen to clear the notification, but no luck. I have to unplug the unit to get it to reset.

I have a small engineering business. I need to be able to print and scan 11x17 sheets. This greatly limits the number of inexpensive printers available to me. This printer was the best combination of cost and features I found. It works great, and prints and scans quickly.

Call me crazy: I've had one for 2.5 years and love the features. Unfortunately I'm on my third one. The first one died after a year and was replaced by Brother. The second one died after a year and I was paid by SquareTrade. I like them so much, despite the issues, that I bought a third one. I just couldn't find anything at that price point with the same convenience and features. Wish me luck.

I have had no problems printing text files. It has taken me some time to adjust to the document printing totally in the printer before coming out. I do have a problem printing photos. It produces a line going down the picture every 1 1/2 inches. It makes the picture unusable. My recommendation would be based on what you need the printer for.

When searching for a new printer, don't buy it for the price of the printer but by the cost of the ink. A hint some wise person once gave me and it is 100% true. Brother makes the most reliable printers. This is out 4th. The ink costs are at least half of the BIG name printers inks. Brother's technical and customer service is unmatched. I don't know where they get these people but YEAH!!!

The product work well, was a little hard to install and needed tech help but they were very good and made sure I was all set before they hung up. After install there have been no problems and the interface works great and does not hang up as HP does.

I like every feature of this printer but I do miss duplex scanning. It just seems reasonable that if you have duplex printing you would also have duplex scanning.

I have only had it a few weeks, so it is too early to tell how much ink it will use. I have printed, scanned, and copied with it and it is very easy to use. I do not plan on using the FAX. The only drawback is that it is a bit noisy.

I have owned and used Brother printers for over 10 years and have to say they are more reliable and have more features than other brands I have owned. I have donated my HP and Epson to charity... just to rid my room of these "quality" printers. I love the 11" x 17" feature, the two-sided print feature and, needless to say, the colors it provides to photos and graphics.

Good value, looks good. Physical size is just right for a small office environment. Easy to use and wire works great.

I hunted for months and there is literally no better option for an 11x17 scanner of this quality out there! It's utterly fantastic, fast and reliable. Having a wireless scanner for my comic artwork is invaluable to me. I simply deactivated the printer functions and notifications on my PC. I just use it as a scanner and it's perfect for that. I highly recommend this. The customer support is really good too! Other 11x17 scanners are going to run you 500-2000$ for the same quality.

Bought this product two months ago and I simply love it's performance. It is quite fast. It was extremely easy to connect (WiFi to my network. I like the fact that it has a large paper tray, so I don't have to reload paper as often as I did with my previous machine.
