So the ink itself is fine, If you dont print every day it gets clogged up and you have to do the print head cleaning and improve print quality maintenance functions.

I have long enjoyed Brother large format printers. About two years ago, I got a new one that takes the Inkvestment type inks, and am glad I did! The printer seems to go on printing forever, putting out high quality color images and documents. I only wish Brother would offer a model that prints 13x19. I'd buy one in a minute! Only caveat: Order replacement cartridges well in advance of when you may need them. They took about two weeks to be shipped to me, last time I ordered.

Brother forced me, via hardware, to stop using third-party inks. Fine. I ponied up and paid full price for the Brother brand ink cartridges. Now my print quality is worse than ever, with red streaks. The maintenance cycle doesn't fix it. I'm very frustrated.

I use only the genuine Brother INK. It does not prevent the printer from plugging holes causing very poor print quality. The cleaning cycle does not fix the problem.

I was very disappointed in the amount of ink in the cartridge?s. I have a huge commercial printer and it came with large full cartridges. What I received was 25% of ink in each red, blue and yellow.

Over the past 15 years I have purchased about twenty Brother printers for my small businesses. I have never been disappointed with any of them, this one included. The MFC-J5845DW XL has superior printing capabilities, is economical in price and ink. My favorite feature is the capability to print from my smartphone directly to the printer.

After having a combination printer for over 10 years we took a chance and upgraded to the Brother. The installation was easy, especially for an old guy, and the device app and computer functions are far better than our former product. Everything works exceptionally well. My only negative comment is that the document print quality is not quite as crisp as our previous printer.

The printing works, but you can?t print on both sides of the paper so it is environmentally very wasteful. Wish I had my Canon printer back.

I have an older Brother, MFC-6490CW, which has an 11x17 scanner too, plus better paper handling, but the ink is relatively expensive, so I haven't used it as an everyday printer. I also bought an Epson ET-4760 tank printer for my wife's office, which has the lowest ink cost, BUT it does not print with the quality of this Brother MFC-5845DW, nor the print handling, quality build or 11x17 print capability like this one. I am not sure how the ink will last and cost out, but I know it will be a lower cost than my older Brother and the quality is nice, plus it prints fast, so it is my default printer in my office now. It is not a photo printer, although the photos aren't too bad.

Now they are blaming the phone company. My prior HP printers worked fine using the same line & phone inputs. Had I not like the printer main functions so much I would have knocked off more stars. Now when ever I have to fax, I have to lift the printer top and plug in the line, close the lid and configure it to fax. Not happy. 1st: Love this printer. Just put a new cartridge in and barely got 100 pages. I print in grayscale and ink saver mode. This printer has cost me more money in ink then the original price of the printer. I am reading that everyone is having the same issue with Brother ink cartridges and when they reply to your review they tell everyone the same thing. Page size, font size etc. BS Would give 0 stars if able. I will be getting rid of the Brother printer and purchasing another brand printer. And they never answer emails.

It was super easy too set up and it is quiet and doesn't shake my whole desk like my other printer did. I also like that I can track the ink. The only issue is when I am printing 10 or more pages the stop does not keep them in the tray.

We tried Brother products for the first time and very much impressed; the scanning, copier and faxing features work great. The LCD touch screen also makes it easier to navigate.
