Horrible. I don't print often so I am very surprised how often I need to replace ink cartridges.

INK CAPACITY IS TERRIBLE

I'm a fan of automatic refill. The cartridge has a short shelf life. Old ink will clog the printer heads and lead to incomplete printing on a page. Performing head cleaning operations can consume a quarter of the cartridge supply of ink. It's best to only keep a reserve of ink if you using a lot ink.

I never received this order. The UPS tracking number said they haven't received the order. I contacted customer service and they said they would pass it onto the sales department. Never heard anything more. IT'S 3 MONTHS! I had to buy ink from another vendor. I will never buy from Brother again. Worst customer service!!!

Your customer service SUCKS!

your ink is good, but many have good ink. My main peeve is you indicate the ink reservoir to be low or empty when it's not. Then even though there is remaining ink, you have engineered the software to not allow continuation of printing without replacing with a new cartridge. You indicate empty even earlier (more ink remaining) when using a non-brother cartridge. When time comes to replace the printer, I will do so with a non-brother printer.

Grate inks

Not sure what happened. Put in the new black ink cartridge, ran a few tests to clean out the ink nozzles and then the black ink cartridge was empty. It must have been a dud cartridge because I did not run over 500 copies before it was empty!

Only printed 8 pages. Low on ink. It must dry out or something. This was over several months.

These cartridges work well, consistently.  I've never had an ill-printed page with them, and the colors are rendered nicely.  I'm not convinced I get anywhere near 550 pages from them, but at least the quality is good.  I've always used Brother brand cartridges with this printer, and it has always worked well.

I have had my MFC-J885DW printer for several years and ALWAYS put genuine Brother ink in it. I just bought a batch of color ink, yellow, magenta, and cyan, ALL of them have just about run dry and I don't think I've printed more then 10 sheets. My original black is still good. What is going on? I paid top dollar for this!

What has happened?

Don't bother with a response. I won't be back to read it. I had a yellow cartridge and a black cartridge go empty yesterday WHILE I WAS AT LUNCH. The yellow one is an XL and was 80% full when I left for lunch and the black one, also an XL and it was 25% full when I left. The ink seems to evaporate.

You're in denial

This ink is supposed to print 550 approximately but the last two purchases the it ran out when I print 100 or 120 pages I feel like i was stolen.

I have bought brother since I started using at home, they also used them at work. I use inkjet now so I can print color photos from my phone.

Brother printers serve me well and their reliable.

I was going to purchase ink from here, but then I read all the reviews and it just seems like I would be avoiding a headache by not purchasing. Seems like there were other places with better reviews and happier customers. Definetly going to give them a try especially since the prices are better. The printer has innobella ink in it when I bought it and yeah, I agree the self cleaning used up a ton of ink and it doesnt print on the page now even though I can tilt the cartridge and see that it has ink in it it will not print on the page for me. frustrating. I now understand it is from the cartridge and will give another company a try.

color runs out even when printing black or monochromatic and will not let you print black without replacing the color which suspiciously drains rather fast.

Brother, there are too many of these complaints to ignore.  This ink just disappears shortly after I open and install a newly purchased cartridge.  I don't ever get the yield that you claim, even within the first few weeks after the fresh installation.  I've done cartridge cleaning after cartridge cleaning.  I expect much better quality from Brother.  Very unhappy with this product.

Does not last

The problem appears to be that these cartridges just go bad. Sitting on a shelf in their original sealed packaging or installed in the printer, the ink just seems to vanish over time. I don't have a need to print daily or even weekly. I have used a number of printers and printer technologies over the years. My favorite is STILL the old clunky HP LaserJet 4000. Cartridges print as many pages as advertised or more. They stay fresh for (literally) years whether on the shelf or installed. This is just not true of this brother printer. I bought a 4pack of genuine ink and installed it. Before even one page was printed, two of the 4 inks showed less than half full. The other two began showing low after only a few pages of mixed text and graphics.
I think the design is just bad and nothing will make it better short of delivering ultra short-lived and ultra low priced cartridges that you install before you print and then pull after a week of use. They just don't last for any amount of time. Time seems to be the limiting factor, not page count when it comes to this product.
The ink-jet business model seems to be: 1) Loss lead the printer with low capacity carts. 2) Sell far over-priced replacements carts to make the money back. 3) Blame suppliers of off-brand papers and inks for poor quality results.
OTOH, The printer does an outstanding job of producing printed output when the over-priced "recommended" supplies are used.
OTGH, The long-term and light use of this product in the home is likely to be cost prohibitive.

Why I don't like this supplier and printer

These cartridges are crap. They show empty even though they have plenty of ink left inside. If you take a piece of electrical tape and cover up both sides of the clear ink window, it will trick the printer into thinking that the cartridge is full and you can keep using it. Otherwise you will only use half the ink in the cartridge

The colors are bold and leave me with nice labels and prints.

This ink is a terrible product-does not last and does not produce anywhere near the number of pages  it says.  Luck to get 50 pages of letter size, plain text (think term paper).
Also colored ink is used up even when only printing black and white.

Had bulk ink brought clr ink printer printing blank but still saying it?s using ink now all the ink is low even when the pages printed blank.

I read and agreed with a review from someone stating that the color ink cartridges seemed to run low quickly, even with little color printing. I had the same experience. Brother sent a reply stating how the printer will mix all colors even for black only, which I have done on occasion. However I also go out of my way to select monochrome as suggested by Brother and it seems to make little difference.
