I purchased this for home office use and I don't print that often. I got the colour version because, though I likely won't need it, I wouldn't mind the option. BIG MISTAKE. You're constantly having to purchase more expensive ink catridges. For whatever reason, even if you print black & white text only, it uses coloured inks. Even when not in use at all, this printer is continuously using ink for maintenance/cleaning. If you switch to grayscale and you're out of one of the colours, you cannot print!

This printer is easy to use. I like that the back opens up so you can clear a paper jam easily. This printer also has the ability to print from a smartphone. I haven't used the fax feature yet but it is set up.

I have a MFC-J680DW at home and a MFC-J690DW at our cabin. The 680 works great which is why I did not hesitate buying the 690, however, the 690 has to be power cycled before it will print after it goes to sleep.

I bought this product because a family member has an older version of it. He loves it and so do I! It gets the job done and is easy to set up and use.

Limited to no response from iPad demand to print. Have downloaded Brother app, plus phoned Brother. One day it worked, next day no. Often get message “no Airprinter” when trying to print off iPads. With the laptop and Windows 10, always have to turn off printer power, pull plug, return plug and then it prints.

Printer has performed well, so far but seems to go through ink quickly. Maybe the initial cartridges were just “starter” cartridges. Overall, I am pleased with my J seres Brother.

I print almost daily so the easier it is to use, the better. I believe the Brother MFC-J69ODW is fast and the print quality couldn't be better! Color prints are very precise and clear. Loading the paper is very easy which makes this printer the best I've used! I highly recommend this great printer.

The generic setup as LAN printer was easy, took less than 5 minutes. Definitely worth the price. However, was checking User Guide for some custom settings, and found the layout confusing and the indexing not well done.

Thought I'd try Brother printers after my other non-Brother printer died. So far it's working great. I haven't tried it yet, but the fact that I can print on both sides of the paper automatically, print more than one page on a single sheet, and can enlarge/reduce copied images are a plus that weren't on my other printer. The only thing that I'm concerned about is that the paper bin is rather flimsy. Since I don't load paper often, I'm hoping that it holds up for me.

This smaller but fully functional printer isjust what we needed! Our home office is in the basement with the BIG Brother Printer, But I needed a printer with closer access. The MFC-J690DW is perfect. Its smaller size allows placement on a stand and covered with light decorative cloth, it is an unobtrusive part of the room. I have used it so many times and am thrilled with the capabilities in this model.

When starting a scan, I open "Brother Utilities" from my desktop my desktop. When that comes up, I open "Control Center 4 Link". That will insert a quick launch icon on the Task Bar. If I try to open the scan function from there, everything freezes when it comes up and the only way I can start again is to restart the computer. Sometimes it will work when opening the scan function from the desktop but that doesn't always work. I eventually get it to work but never from the Task Bar. I like everything else about the product.

Setup was quick and easy to use as a wireless printer from PC, smartphone or tablet. What amazed me was the response time. Hit the print button and in a heartbeat, the printer is chugging away. My old printer took so long to respond that I could drink a cup of coffee while waiting. And whats more, printer quality is excellent. As with any new product from a different manufacturer, it takes some time to get acclimated to their interface. Once the brain was retrained, it proved to be a much easier machine to operate.
