The copying function is severly compromised if not used frequently. I have to clean the print heads almost every time I use the copying function. The scanning function works very well.

I brought this all in one printer on the company's reputation of producing quality products. What i found overtime i was wrong. For some reason if i don't use the printer for one day, the next day the printing is faded in some sections of the page or missing. The answer from tech support is to run printhead cleaning, which seems to work but is annoying overtime. I also had two replace the print head twice. I use Brother cartridges only which are not cheap. I rely more on my older Workforce printer from Epson whi ch still delivers quality text as well as pictures. I use 13x19 printing as i do cad drawings, so a wide format is my choice. I will be purchasing the new eco tank wide format from Epson. This is my experience and may not be shared by others.

Printer developed a paper jam which will no clear... No paper can be seen anywhere in the printer yet printer thinks there is paper jamming it and will not operate...

Handy to have oversized image capability, however scanner is fickle. Sometimes scans as portrait, sometimes scans as landscape. There appears to be no apparent default. Print quality also suffers at times, as the print heads get gummed up frequently.

In general this is a good printer that prints high quality. I use it mainly for scanning and it is above average in that area as compared to my previous purchases. Ink life is great and Brother inks are tolerably priced. The most frustrating thing about the scanner is the automatic edge cutoff when scanning from the glass. If you place the paper against the guide, where you would naturally place it, the scanner will cut off the top 4mm and 3mm off the edge. Why? So to get a full scan I have to place the 8.5inx11in sheet toward the middle of the glass and scan a ledger sized document then auto crop. Why not just make the guide in the correct place to have no cutoff? Perhaps I just don't understand how to use it. The next most frustrating thing about the printer is the inability to print a return address closer than 0.5in from the edge of the envelope. I tape a piece of paper to the end of the envelop to trick the printer into printing at the edge of the envelope, 0.125in. Features that I would love to see in the next model include: The ability to change scan settings and add to the existing scan file. Currently you can only add pages to an existing, unsaved, scan if you use the same scanner settings. I would like to be able to change from two sided to one sided or from letter to ledger size without having to save the file, change the settings, and scan a new file. The ability to narrow the single page feed to the size of a business card, or at least to the size of a standard personal check so that I could just load single checks in the manual feeder and print them out instead of having to purchase the, three checks to a page thing.

This is my first Brother printer after buying HP printers for many, many years. I bought this printer primarily because it was able to print tabloid size sheets which I required at a remote location. After that project was over I brought it home to use as my primary printer replacing a 2 yr old HP printer which I sold. I thought that glitches were commonplace with printers but my Brother has been working without any issues for over a year now.

From the advertisement, I couldn't gauge the size. Upon arrival my wife and I were taken aback.Would have preferred a more compact machine. We kept it and started using it. From day one, it kept disconnecting the remote printing feature. Had to regularly reinstall the software. The fact that my wife and I only use the printer intermittently created another problem. Whenever we went to print, the quality was horrible. The text was so faded, one could hardly read it. To remedy the situation, we were required to run a head-cleaning process. Problem is that whenever we did this, the machine was consuming our supply of ink, which contradicted the promise of a long lasting ink supply based on the machine's technology. This was very frustrating, and led us to conclude that this was not a smart purchase. Wouldn't recommend it to friends and family.

This machine does it all. I do spreadsheets and really need the ledger sized printing. Its fast and easy to use. I find the software intuitive and uncluttered. Much faster scanning than my old HP. Only problem is I need another one and have been waiting for Brother to ship for months.

We needed a new large format colour printer and this one was on sale at Staples. It makes good fast prints. The ink lasts for a long time and since the cartridges are clear one can see the amount of ink left in each. It also has 2 paper drawers so you can print 2 different formats without having to unload and reload paper. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to print double sided from a PDF file.

First one died after just 19 months of light usage. Service center said repair would cost as much as a new machine. Replaced under warranty and new machine died in just over a year. And to top it all off, replacement machines are only warranted for 30 days, EVEN IF THEY'RE BRAND NEW. So much for being "at your side." Clearly, Brother is both low-quality and unethical. Never again.

It's fast, seems to not consume a lot of ink easy to use. Color is a little weak and scanning goes high contrast.

There is much to like about this printer. Very fast, excellent print quality, journal size printing is needed at times, holds large amount of paper, ink lasting much longer than other printers I have owned but... The reason for only 3 of 5 stars is because it will not directly scan (using the printer's menu to a Windows 11 computer. After searching the Internet, it appears that I am not the only one with this problem. However, I have found a workaround. By plugging in a USB thumb drive into the printer's front USB slot (actually, I use an SSD card to USB adaptor) I can scan from the printer directly to the SSD chip to my heart's content. When finished scanning, I simply move the card to my computer and use the scanned pdf files from the chip.

Mostly Happy With This Printer. The only disappointment so far is there is no tray for 11x17. 11x17 is fed from rear feeder which does not hold as much paper. I got this mainly for 11x17. I just don't like having to rely on the rear paper feeder when I have two trays. When I was searching for printers, I specifically searched for one with two trays assuming one would be 11x17.

I like the printer overall. I print envelopes using the feeder in back. However, I have been unable to figure out how to print a single check using the feeder. Seems like that should be possible.

This printer prints fast and can hold a good bit of toner, but never have I experienced a printer that leaves as many streaks as this one. I feel like I'm constantly having to clean the nozzles multiple times before I can actually print something worth anything.

This latest addition to my hone office is actually a replacement for a previous Brother large format A-I-O machine which was almost exactly five years old. The old one in itself had replaced an even earlier version of the large format A-I-O. So I am quite familiar with Brother A-I-Os. Each generation has included improvements and the 6945 is well nigh perfect--at least so far. The redesign of the multi-purpose feed makes it much more usable--and handy. Now you can place the unit fairly close to a wall and easily use the MPF, which previously was not the case. Kudos to the designers!

The good: Ink well is great, normal letter printing is excellent. Wireless operation is pretty good, but other than my first system to connect as a printer, all other PC's and Laptops see it as a scanner and I have not been able to find a way to change that. I have tabloid card stock in tray 2 and miss-feeds are very common. Often takes 3-4 tries to print 2 sheets. When it works the print is excellent.

I volunteer for a non-profit and must print checks, letters, and envelopes; not to mention scan a lot of items for archiving. I had an HP and I found myself changing paper all the time to fit the situation. The Brother printer has two paper bays and a manual feed, and it has made an enormous difference for me. I never have to change paper now; I just select the proper feed in the print dialog. The scanning feature is incredible as well. With my HP, I had to do manual two-sided scanning. The Brother printer scans both sides with one pass. This is an incredible time saving feature. I can?t say enough good things about the Brother printer. Please note, it is a large printer; so, plan accordingly.

We purchased this printer as it allows for print/scan to tabloid size. This paper size is important to our day to day work as we are builders and need this size for plans. To have the ability to scan and email this size from the office to subs and clients is a plus as well. The ability to also to print/ scan legal and letter means one printer not multiples.

I spent about $100 more for this unit that I have for other units in the same class in the past, and I am very glad I did. This thing is built like a tank and has so many features, the duplex scan feature being one of my favorites. It scans both sides of a document at the same time and does it way faster than just probably any other unit in this class. The printing is fast and quiet. There are so many things to love about this printer. It is a big boy, but for what it does, I am learning to like the size. The only issue I have found so far is the behavior between ADF scan orientation and the platen: When I set up my customizations for ADF scanning so the scanned page orientation is correct, I get different orientation results in the scanned page when I scan using the platen. Not sure how to fix this yet. Otherwise, a killer product. This is an industrial-strength unit and is probably overkill for most home offices. But I'd rather have too much than the too little that I got with the Canon and Epson printers ostensibly in the same class. No comparison in my opinion.

This printer has many features and the print quality is excellent, I am very satisfied with the machine so far. I am looking forward to determine if the High Capacity Ink Tanks last a reasonable amount of time since it was one of the key reasons to get the unit.
