Review Summary
Bresser equips beginner and intermediate astronomers with a complete manual observation kit with this version of their NT150S Messier 6" f/5 Reflector Telescope. It comes with the optical tube, the Exos-1 equatorial mount, a tripod and an array of optical accessories. The optical tube assembly features a Newtonian reflector design with a large aperture and a fast f/5 focal ratio to make this telescope ideally suited for astrophotography and astroimaging. Its large 6" primary mirror allows planets and the Moon to appear bright and clear while having the capacity to see out of the solar system to bright nebulae, galaxies and binary stars. This iteration of the Messier is equipped with the Exos-1 manual equatorial mount and features dual-axis slow motion cables to more easily track objects and an integrated bubble level to assist in set-up. Built into the mount is an access port for an optional polar alignment scope to aid in faster and more precise set up. The tripod, a step-up from typical "starter" tripods, is adjustable from 25 to 42" to accommodate a wide range of users. Its 1.5" leg diameter has three sections with large thumbscrews for tool-free adjustment in the field. The mounting cradle-ring assembly clamps over the optical tube and lets the user adjust the orientation and position of the scope relative to the mount to optimize viewing comfort and balancing, while avoiding interference with other equipment and a 1/4"-20 stud on the top of the cradle ring assembly enables a camera to be piggybacked onto the scope for wide-field photography. The scope is equipped with a 2" rack-and-pinion focuser for over-sized eyepieces and accessories and comes with a 1.25" reducer adapter and a 1.25" 26mm super Plossl eyepiece that yields 29x power on the OTA. The adapter also has integrated T2 mounting threads to enable the use of a user-supplied DSLR-specific T2 ring for astrophotography through the scope.
