Review Summary
Bresser provides intermediate and advanced astronomers with a complete manual observation kit with this version of their Messier NT203 8" f/5 Reflector Telescope . It comes with the achromatic refractor optical tube, the Exos-2 equatorial mount, an heavy-duty tripod, a polar finder scope and an array of optical accessories. The optical tube assembly features a Newtonian reflector design with a large aperture and a fast f/5 focal ratio to make this telescope ideally suited for astrophotography and astroimaging. Its large 8" primary mirror allows planets and the Moon to appear bright and clear while having the capacity to see out of the solar system to observe and image nebulae, galaxies and binary stars. This iteration of the Messier is equipped with the Exos-2 equatorial mount and features dual-axis slow motion cables to more easily track objects and an integrated bubble level to assist in set-up. To make set-up and alignment faster and easier, Bresser includes an illuminated polar finder scope for use in the Northern hemisphere. The tripod is built with large 2" diameter stainless steel legs and tight tolerances to reduce vibration for clearer viewing. A center stabilizer bar pulls the accessory tray up to lock the legs in place adding further rigidity and vibration reduction. It is adjustable from 29 to 49" to accommodate a wide range of users and features large thumbscrews for tool-free adjustment in the field. The mounting cradle-ring assembly clamps over the optical tube and lets the user adjust the orientation and position of the scope relative to the mount to optimize viewing comfort and balancing, while avoiding interference with other equipment and a 1/4"-20 stud on the top of the cradle ring assembly enables a camera to be piggybacked onto the scope for wide-field photography.
