For years I used an inkjet printer and always had trouble with ink drying and expensive. My Brother Laser is a breath of fresh air. It simply works without problems

Print quality is fine; device is confused by password system. Neither the password on the back of the device nor the account password is accepted for software updates. Device "reports" it was unable to print a submitted request.... though it did print. ??? Concerns reported at purchase and nothing was done about it. If the print quality wasn't acceptable I would have simply returned it. Contact with the company is useless.

This is a good little printer, but I have problems printing envelopes which is frustrating. Other than that issue I am happy with it.

Love Brother laser printers. This model is the perfect size and price for a home office. Cost per page less than ink and up to 1200 dpi.

One big issue 2 or 3 times a day when I click print it trips the breaker in my electrical panel I'm told that shouldn't be and I've had it checked out and my breaker is fine Anyone else experiencing this issue?

WHY did I wait so long to buy this?!? I've bought so many ink jet printers that die either from dried up ink because I didn't need to print anything or bunny fur that somehow snuck in. After four ink jets, I went looking for an alternative. I was leery on toner cartridges...there was this awful and memorable "Toner Event" at my workplace. But I decided to give this FABULOUS MACHINE a go. I've used it probably 20 times and so far, I'm THRILLED with it! Setup was a cinch and the app makes printing crazy easy. I used to have communication issues every time I used the ink jets. But no hangups at all with this...smooth as room temperature butter. Click & print. It's that easy. I need to buy a cover for it but for now I'm using the plastic bag it was in. I can't believe how much I love this printer!

The printer works great, a lot better than the prious Brother Ink Jet 1360, which too often, the paper jammed in it, and the last timew it happened, was the last straw, I could not clear the paper jam, I decided to junk it & went out & purchased this Brother DCPL 2640DW. My only complaint was the amount of time you need to wait on the phone waiting to speak with a Brother Representative. After I bought the Brother 2640DW, I was able to set it up myself on my network, but when I called Brother 2 days later to both register the printer & try to get the Brother Software downloaded on my PC, a Windows 11 Desktop, it screwed up my network connection, and after about another hour on the phone with a 2nd Brother Representative, ended up using a USB Cable to connect to my PC, because it wasn't printing anymore, and the only real downside to the 2640DW, is that the LCD Screen doesn't have a keypad, ande it is really difficult to connect it wirelessly only being able to use the up & down keys. What I later found out from a AM Radio Tech Show, from the show's host, is that when we did a complete rewboot, shutting down the Printer & The Router, the IP Address changed, thus the reason thaT my 2640DW stopped printing after my 1st call to Brother Tech Support, and after connected an old HP Office Jet Printer, both my MacBook Pro & MacMini does not work anymore, but as long as I can print with the 2640DW using the USB Cable, all is well!

This unit replaced a similar Canon Laser unit. The Canon had consistent connectivity problems, this Brother is rock solid on connections.

This model is supposed to be able to copy 2 sided. You have to push 10 different buttons to find the screen to do it and then you also have to place the paper on the scanner glass. Very time consuming!

Good, but one thing missing- i would like to be able to scan BOTH SIDES, and this unit does not accomplish that.

I finally got fed up with HP printers. After not having enough ink, not being able to find the right ink cartridge, prices rising . . . I treated myself to a laser printer. I didn't need color and heard good things about the Brother 2640. In the past month I have put this printer through its paces and it has not let me down. Whether I'm upstairs on my desktop, or downstairs on my laptop, all I have to do is push print and it's off and running. I also like that I can print on both sides of the paper. It prints fast and flawless. It was also easy to set up and took less than five minutes to connect wirelessly.

Great home office printer/copier. It works well, was easy to set up and has been very reliable. I had one of thses several years ago and it worked trouble free for more than 6 years! I love thos brand and the ink is very reasonable also.

This B&W Laser printer prints quickly and wirelessly from my PC & phone. The purchase price was good but I cannot update the software because I can't find the serial number. It is not printed on back label, it is not what appears on "machine info" printout and it is not either of the two default values ("access" or "initials". I had a very long session (>2 hours) with Brother customer support but he was unable to resolve my problem.

Your agent on Brother tech support assured me that this model was same as MFC2740 except for fax. It wasn't. I didn't have duplex scanning. I returned it. Thanks for your bad advice.

I've always loved Brother Laser printers, they're bullet proof. I don't use the printer often but it's always ready to go when I need it! The scanner does an awesome job also!

When I finally got the one I originally ordered as a new printer not used or refurbished I was absolutely delighted. The price was right. The size was correct. It was super easy to install as an unplugged the old one plug in the new one and ready to go I had my last printer for 16 years. I gave it to someone else who found toner for it and that Panasonic is still running. I love this brother machine. I would buy a second one all my friends have brother machines and they love their machines. It's a great great product.

Very hard to figure out how to load the toner cartridge. Instructions did not mention there is a back door that nees to be opened as well as the one where the toner goes. I had to go to Office Depot and have a salesman show me how to do it, and even he was confused at first. Waited hours for tech support to call me back so that I could hook up the wifi to my Mac. A very complicated process that I would never have figured out on my own. I still can't figure out how to scan a doc into my Mac, but that's for another day when I have a few hours to waste.

Inexpensive way for home office to print and scan what's necessary. If one no-longer has a land line then to send a fax needs a pay for service, or a momentary borrowed landline.
