For a USB compatible printer I would expect it to work with something beyond windows. But it appears if you have anything newer than XP the support is very limited and W10 is non existant. Something outside of MS Windows environment good luck.

Gave my old Brother labeler to my granddaughter and bought this for myself. Love the ease of just using my pc to type out labels! Great product! Easy to use.

Unit concept is great. Software, set up and use can be challenging. Engineering team has to remember the KISS concept.

The only negative comments are 1 Brother should offer the AC adapter as a standard feature instead of having to purchase separate or keep replacing batteries 2) Offer a longer lasting label cartridge.

I love our printer. It does all the jobs we need. Labeling files and folders is easy and quick. The labels also give a more uniformed looking office product. With employees having such a vast array of penmanship, using the labels makes some items easier to read as well. I would recommend the label maker to anyone looking for an easy to use time saving home or office appliance.

I purchased this printer to make plant labels. I have over a thousand orchids and I like to clearly see the genus and name of the plant. When dividing the plants, I able to make multiple copies in tons of different fonts.

I pick this item up to make life easier for cable labeling and a few other things that needed clear labels in my office. No matter how much I tried, the printer would only print about a third of whatever was displayed on the screen. I tried adjusting the settings with no success. I need to find another product/manufacturer.

Use it all the time. Even got it work on a network. However, recently it has stopped working, or will print just part of a label. Reason, batteries are low. But it used to send a warning when you tried to print that the batteries are low. Now, it just stops printing, even in the middle of print cycle. Second, it really has been going thru batteries. I will put new batteries in (and I check them with a digital battery voltage meter) and within a week, the batteries are low again No, notice, just stops working. By the way Brother tech help is great.

This little printer works great, easy to use. Only one regret to the wasted label tape if you only need one label or if you print multiples. To get the most of the label tape print without or only one space between each label. Doing so will save wasted tape at the beginning of each label. That is why I only rated it 4 stars. Still a good buy just create more than one label at a time with only one space between each new or different label.

I have had my P-Touch PT 1230 PC label maker for a couple of years. Oh, how simple is was to make really great labels. Today, it has decided to not stop the tape from dispensing- even after it has written the label, it just keeps running and running. Now, I have a long blank label. Rolls of labels are expensive. Could someone at Brother tell me how to fix this so I can love my little machine again? I would also like to know how re-roll the unused white label back into the cartridge.

I looked forward to replacing an old brother simple text labeller with this one. What a mistake. From day one I have not been able to get it to work. The only thing that worked was when I went for a home run using this for the baseball off my rear deck. I have wasted 2 days and a complete reload of Windows 7 professional 64bit in trying to get it to work. I did all the updates as requested/required. I am pretty savy when it comes to working a computer and another friend who is a programmer could not help either. Simply put this device does not seem to work under Win7 64 bit. A huge waste of time and I will not be using Brother devices again. I expected more from a name brand that usually makes good equipment.

I Loved this little label printer... It worked perfectly, was fast, efficient, kept my files and office neat and organized. That was when my computer had Windows XP O/S. Then I got Windows 7, 64 bit system. My labeler has NOT worked correctly since! I spend more time trying to get the icon to appear on my system than it's worth! PAIN in the neck!!! A HUGE waste of time and GIANT step backward...

This was a special buy, and a special product, as it turns out. Simple to operate, and a real plus that the software is built into the printer. Results are no different than any of the hand printers, except the software gives you a world of different ways to print it. I highly recommend this product.

We bought the machine to produce stencils for electrochemically part marking aerospace parts (Method AS478-7A The self loading software is easy to use and the stencils work well in our application. You need to buy STE cartridges for the stencil material. We're getting perfect part marks on stainless steel and Inconel parts with this system.

Had trouble with the software install but the webb site helped cure this.A little frustrated at first because the first half dozen labels were streaked, but now it does a good job.Label cartridge cost is kind of high.

Nice unit and works as advertised. It does waste a little bit of label on each printing.

Machine was purchased to provide miniature year & mint mark labels for labeling those extra spaces found in coin books. Using the pc connected version, I have been able to create labels suited to my purpose with any font in my computer. My tape preference for this purpose is black on clear backing

I bought this for convenience so I could make labels at my computer/desk rather than getting out my Brother 1400 portable. The software for the 1230C plus the computer keyboard are an easier interface than on the portable. The 1230 is very simple to install and use - I didn't even bother downloading the full software package - the self-installing app included right in the 1230 is plenty for everyday use.

I love my label maker. There is no end to the creative possibilities for this label maker. You name it, you can put a label on it. I made some labels for my husband, he put them in his shirt pocket, the shirt and labels went through the laundry/dryer and the labels were still good to use. Difficult to get off the item you put them on, you don't have to worry about the label falling off. I couldn't ask for anything better.

Works great. easy to set up for quick usage. The only complaint is that I would like to see less "wasted" tape on each side of the wording.

I purchased the unit off the closeout shelf at Office Depot, making it a borderline screaming bargain. So while I personally find the software kind-of clunky to use.....though others might disagree....I still give this printer a solid 4-stars. Compact, flexible, and significantly more print options than a typical P-touch label maker.

I have found this to be a great little gem. Sadly it is not not Mac compatible, I should have read the box better, but when using PC I use it all the time!!

The print quality is fabulous. It is very easy to use. There are two drawbacks to this product: 1) Since it is a continuous tape, there shouldn't be a cutoff as to how long the label can/should be. I use it for making pricing labels - with a lot of repetition. If I want to make an entire cartridge of the same label, I should be able to do so. 2) There is too much wasted tape...the same wasted space at the end of the label as the regular hand-held label maker. ESPECIALLY if you are reprinting the same label. I would give the product FIVE STARS if the above were corrected in the software.
