Shopper : What is an objective cap?JOHN R : An objective cap is the cover for the front the binocular lens tube. There are two supplied one for each tube. There are covers for the back of the lens tubes as well.THOMAS G : The objective is the lens that the light first enters. The cap is just a rubber piece that covers the lenses to protect them from scratches.SCOTT G : The large lens is the objective. These binoculars have plastic covers for each objective lens to protect the lens when not in use. They can be flipped down when you use the binoculars and then flipped back up when not using.
Shopper : Does the Bushnell rebate apply to this binocular?RODNEY S : Yes, it is listed as a valid product for the rebate. Beware though, I submitted my rebate and they say I did not send my upc bar code with the form. I made sure i followed the instructions exactly, because I know how they are with these. If you make 1 mistake, they decline to pay the rebate. Now, they say I did not send the bar code and I can't do anything about it, because the box only had 1 upc on it and I will not be able to re-submit. My advice is to tape the upc barcode to the form to make sure they see it.SHAWN D : Yes. I purchased this item the last week of September and promptly submitted the rebate materials. I received my rebate check the second week of December.LEON F : Yes it does. I have already received my rebate check in the mail.JOHN R : Yes it does, I'm waiting for mine to arrive, but the web site says its approved.

Good optics. Confusing diopter adjustment because you have to lift to unlock. Shoulda read the manual to save a few hours of frustration... Skimpy case without a neck strap (minus 1 star)

Great Mid Price Binoculars.

These binoculars were just what I needed. They are far better than an older pair of Bushnells and the clarity is fantastic. Came with a case but I wish the case had loops to attach a neck cord to rather than only attachments on the binoculars themselves.

Hunting binoculars

I needed a pair of binoculars for my hunting season and stumbled upon these. I was very impressed by the clarity while up in a tree stand. They are also built to last and I am not afraid of them getting beat up while searching for a whitetail. These are an excellent set of binoculars for the price.

Very clear optics

The quality is stunning compared to any other binoculars I have ever owned. I never realized clarity in a binocular was possible to this degree. Fantastic for the price I paid. Great for bird watching and duck hunting.

A Solid 3.5 Stars

Optically, I would rate these binos as very good. It has good clarity and accurate color rendition and long eye relief. It has ED glass, fully muti-coated lenses, and a magnesium frame -- all first-rate features. Mechanically is where it gets a little spotty. The frame, armoring, and weight are substantial -- it feels very solid. But the eye cups don't extend far enough from the ocular lens and I had to hold the bino a few mm away from my eyes. Twisting the eye cups also felt vague and flimsy and the range of adjustment was very short -- only two clicks on mine. The focus knob had a little play -- not a lot but it was there. These problems could have been on my particular pair only. Overall, it's very good if you get a solid pair and if it fits you. A solid 3.5 stars.

Designed for hunters by a company full of hunters, Bushnell's 8x42 Legend HD Binocular proves once again that Bushnell is never a company to sit upon their laurels. The Legends have long been regarded as a great hunter or birder's value.

Bushnell has been able to greatly increase the field of view with just a tiny decrease in eye relief and that extra field surrounds your peripheral vision within the binocular. The objective lenses now feature extra-low dispersion glass, which aims to eliminate chromatic aberration.

Other improvements include a facelift to the housing armor, magnesium construction to shave precious amounts of weight and new anti-reflective internal lens coatings to maximize overall color rendition. The 8x42 model is a standard entry for enthusiastic birders and makes for a great all-around hunting and sporting unit. This roof prism design offers a streamlined shape for better handling for most average-to-smaller hand.
