Trailer Brass: Woodwinds, Brass
Trailer Strings: Stringed Instruments
Musical Sampling's entire orchestral collection to date. The whole enchilada.
With over 55,000 samples spanning over 20 GB, this anthology caters to a variety of productions both modern and traditional.
- Soaring Strings -
With so many great legato string libraries out there, why another one? Because Soaring Strings focuses on performance, by having the players really dig in with the vibrato and giving you all they had with the triple forte dynamic. This also meant approaching the sessions in a unique, musical way to capture the kind of singular legato everybody is looking for.
Keep things simple
Another focus was to dial things back and to confine oneself to the essentials of producing credible string arrangements in a shorter amount of time:
A single, natural mix and omitting seldom-used legato articulations
A "Sustain Sync" feature that synchronizes the starting sustain with the following intervals/repetitions, which saves you from having to make adjustments to start-notes
A "To Silence" button that can enable the modwheel to completely diminish the softest dynamic to silence
Recording a medium-sized ensemble provides both "solo-istic" detail and natural transparency
Key Features
Companion library to Adventure Strings
Innovative musical approach to sessions
Medium-sized ensembles: Violins, Violas, Cellos, Basses
Sections recorded in traditional seating arrangement
Molto expressive vibrato across the upper dynamic range
Fives dynamics of sustains (pp < fff)

Recorded on a scoring stage
6.4 GB uncompressed (4 GB compressed NCW format)
- Adventure Strings -
Adventure Strings is the follow-up to the debut offering, Soaring Strings. Performed by the same number of players, recorded in the same room, seated in their traditional positions - both share the same performance aesthetic. Strong, passionate and relentlessly energetic.
So why another string library with the same, familiar collection of short articulations? Well, it's how Musical Sampling produced them that makes it interesting.
Shorts are normally recorded in isolation - perhaps one or two notes per bar during the recording process. This makes the editing process a snap and the end result is often satisfactory. The sane choice.
With Adventure Strings, Musical Sampling recorded repetition phrases; a quick succession of notes at a procured tempo. The samples of each note of that phrase were then edited and programmed to be playable, which resulted in a fetal position-incurring post-production process.
Key Features
Companion library to Soaring Strings
Short articulations all sourced from performance phrases
Medium-sized ensembles: Violins, Violas, Cellos, Basses
Morph Stacking programming allows any note length to sound natural
Sections recorded in traditional seating arrangement
Molto expressive vibrato across the upper dynamic range

To Silence feature
Adjustable Humanization feature
Switchable Crossfade/Velocity control for short articulations
33 separate patches
Includes Full Strings instruments
Recorded on a scoring stage
5.1 GB uncompressed (2.9 GB compressed NCW format)
The end result is a collection of patches that now suit the context they were designed for because, well, they were recorded that way!
In addition to the shorts (spiccato/staccatos/pizzicatos/marcatos), Adventure Strings includes trills, tremolos, sustains, keyboard-spanning Full Strings instruments and of course, the Adventure patches.
- Adventure Brass -
Adventure Brass was recorded at The Bridge in Los Angeles, a prominent scoring stage that has overseen a variety of television, film and game scoring projects since it's opening in 2010. Starting out with LA's finest, the goal with this release was to create a true workhorse brass library that is first and foremost, fun to play.

Utilizing Morph Stacking programming techniques, the Adventure patches allow you to perform lines "on-the-fly" without any keyswitching. Coupled with two intuitively-programmed attack variations, the ability to spontaneously craft bold brass melodies quickly has never been easier.
Musical Sampling recorded medium-sized sections; a dual-purpose group designed to treat equally-well to both unison and harmonic passages with believable transparency, even when crossfading between dynamic layers.
- Trailer Brass -
While Adventure Brass lends itself to bold lines in traditional settings, Trailer Brass was produced with more modern, over-sized contexts in mind.
Musical Sampling recorded three different groups: a ten-horn ensemble, a ten-trombone ensemble and the Horde; a three-cimbasso/three-tuba ensemble that has been aggressively processed for maximum beefiness.
To get the wide, wall-of-brass sound, the players were sat evenly across the stage of a huge concert hall. Also a lot of effort went into reaching maximum volume, which is no easy task. It got so loud in there that the trombones ended up busting one of the microphones. Congrats were issued.
The library also includes a varied collection of sound design patches that utilize the brass recordings in some great ways. Impacts, pads, BRAAAMs, synth basses, rhythmic drones and the like.

Companion library to Trailer Strings

Processed Horde samples for maximum beefiness
Custom Sound Design patches sourced from brass recordings

As always, the GUI has limited controls to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time. The Adventure and Majestic patches come to mind, where you can produce believable brass lines using just your keys and the modwheel.
The library also contains five different GUI's designed to immediately inform you of what a particular patch can do in terms of control.
- Trailer Strings -
Trailer Strings shares the same mantra its portly, brassy cousin follows: loud, huge, aggressive.
60-string ensemble: 18 violins, 16 violas, 14 cellos and 12 double basses recorded separately in the same concert hall as Trailer Brass. The library also incorporates a wide/centered seating arrangement to help achieve the same modern, oversized aesthetic everyone is going for.
What you get
A useful array of short and long articulations, but with a size and clarity that's specifically geared towards hugantic (hugh-jan-tik), over-the-top productions
As with the brass, really pushed players to give you everything they had with the triple-forte dynamic
What you may not expect with this release is that the dynamic range is quite wide. In addition to the fortississimo dynamic, it goes all the way down to piano. Feathery spiccatos, pillowy staccatos and smooth marcatos performed a la dolce. The sustains are six dynamics deep - the softest two performed sul tasto (over the fingerboard) to get that whispered, feathery tone.
Also included is the "Adventure" patch programming for all four sections, a cool asset for on-the-fly, pompous string lines. Simply load up the basses/cellos Adventure patches, set the basses an octave down, arm both tracks and get your pomposity on.
The SFX section
Trailer Strings also offers three cluster effects patches in the basses and cellos. "Snap and Grunt" provides an arsenal of atonal pizzicatos, staccato chugs and scrapes
"The Brooding" includes subtle, low-range aleatoric meanderings (good for: "alligator sneaking up on prey"). "Behind the Bridge!" is exactly that, tremelo'd (good for: "alligator eats prey")
