With the sliding baseplate, you can easily get optimal balance when shooting handheld. Additionally, release the upper clamp to dismount the 15mm LWS baseplate for an ultralight setup.

The Alexa Mini Left Field QR Baseplate is a dual function baseplate. It has dual dovetail clamps which give you the option to dismount the camera from a tripod or other camera support with or without the lower section, leaving the 15mm LWS baseplate and attached accessories for an even lighter handheld setup. Both dovetail clamps allow for sliding adjustment for optimal balance with large camera setups. It has mounting points for the left & right side cheese plates as well as the ARRI MSB-1 side brackets for an extremely low profile setup. The upper dovetail clamp has been designed to work with the 15mm LWS baseplate core and may not be work with all ARRI dovetails.
