Does make the sky darker but at the expense of some light gathering ability Your exposures need to be longer to compensate especially for astrophotography

Not a magic fix but it does work

The filter is well made and the glass is well coated to help make it easy to rid the filter of dust and humidity.  I have taken some night time test shots and it does definitely reduce the light pollution from sodium vapor lamps.  The real test will come later in April and May when I photograph the Milky Way.  Typically, the residual light pollution affects the results but based on my tests, I am expected great improvement.
