A breakthrough design that has traction  In addition to featuring the highest resolving optics for today's highest quality lenses, Breakthrough Photography wanted to create a filter that was thinner and therefore lighter, but at the same time increase its functionality and it's durability. That led to some really surprising design challenges and innovations.  To achieve this Breakthrough Photography took the entire filter concept and went back to the drawing board. It's incredibly important to have filters on tight and very secure, as camera equipment unfortunately gets banged around quite a bit and a filter falling off is not a good situation to be in. Even despite the early tooling challenges during the prototype phase and even though it was quite a bit more expensive to manufacture, the feedback that they got from photographers was overwhelming traction frames are better than standard flat black frames.  Full traction texture around the entire circumference of the X4 makes it easier than ever to get off and on securely. Not only did Breakthrough Photography want to improve the design to make it easier and simply more practical, but they also wanted to take the materials to the next level. The X4 is machined from brass, which is stronger than aluminum, binds and jams less on lenses and with other filters (or step-up rings) and it just provides a more reliably solid feel.  Less becomes more  The X4 UV features an ultra-slim double-threaded 3.2mm Traction Frame which eliminates vignetting and light falloff on full-frame wide-angle setups while still working with all your lens caps. The X4 UV's double-threaded traction frame will accept all of your filters and existing lens caps.

Great filter

I haven?t had a chance to shoot with the UV lens cover over my lens yet, but I will soon and I?m just excited to have some protection over my pricey lens, so we?ll worth it! 

The UV lens threading was smooth going over the lens and the grip makes it easy to give a bit of tightness to it and make sure it?s really on there, so as not to fall off. It was super easy to clean & I?m excited to see what it?s like out in the elements soon. Can?t wait to test it out!

I use breakthrough filters pretty much all my lenses. This was no exception, as it is amazing quality it does not degrade IQ at all.

Excellent filter

Looks Great, works great! No vignetting, easy to mount and uninstall, and regardless of now obviously  baseless claims works great with Canon lens hoods as well. The brass and knurling very effectively prevents the filter from getting stuck. Will be replacing all my UV, CPL, and ND filters with these in the future, and have already made a good dent.

Hands down the best filter!

Weill  definitely be buying this brand again top quality half the price same product a little better to be honest. I was on the fence between this or $160 Hoya UD3 I ended up taking a chance with breakthrough seems very quality highly recommend.

I believe this one of the best filter available because of the materials used and design. Over the years I have purchased and used other brands of filters definitely this is the best!

Excellent quality and design

It looks cool and has a nice grip. Doesn't effect image at all.  Much easier to clean then the curved front glass on the lens.

I really enjoy the lens. I don't use lens hoods as I like sun flairs. And this keeps my lens safe.

I use Breakthrough Photography filters for all my lenses.  They're made with the best glass available and the large grippy edges on the filter makes it easier to get them on and off without worrying about them getting stuck.  They are definitely comparable to any filter available.

Good filter

I used to use b&w but now I prefer breakthrough, especially for ND filters. Breakthrough is a good filter and the texture makes it easier put on/take off especially if stacked with another filter.

X4 UV filter

I swore I would never put another piece of glass in front of my lens just because I have tried so many filters. This one convinced me I can find a good filter with suffering perceived image quality loss. Nice Bought this for my Sony 24-105 Full frame now I want one for my 18-105 crop lens. Sorry I don't have sample photos available right now.

Excellent UV protection

I usually don't like to put any UV filters on my lens being afraid of degrading my images. But I've changed my mind recently as I don't to damage my expensive lenses, especially long zoom lenses. I started getting the Breakthrough filters and very happy with the quality of the filters and the images. I bought the larger one for my long telephoto zoom lens.

I recently switched from B&W filters (which are still super quality) to these Breakthrough filters. I have two of these great UV filters and also a polarizer, all from Breakthrough. Besides the phenominal quality, the "bumps" on the outside of the rings allow me to easily switch at will without the need for a filter wrench. They also do not interfere with the lens hood.

This filter is a solid purchase.  Great construction and the clarity of the glass is superior.  I have a number of filters from this company and all are superb.  Don't buy cheap.

Great Filter

No colorcast at all with this filter, and it's very easy to put on and take off with the traction system . Highly recommended!

BT 82MM X4 UV Filter

Even though this is just a thin piece of glass the grip on it feels great and is easy to hold on to if you need to remove.  The casing is thin to keep a vignetting low when stacking circular filters.

With how low the profile is and how clear the glass is I need to periodically double take to see if it's really still there.  it's not that it comes off but rather that the quality on the glass is good.

I haven't been able to see a difference in color in images with and without the filter.  Since this is supposed to be clear I'm thrilled and when needed know which one to get.

incredibly clear glass

I believed all the great reviews.  I like this filter better than my B+W, Hoya and other filters.  I put it on a 28-135 zoom and that zoom stopped capturing black corners on the digital photos.  I never had that corner problem with my Canon 24-70, 14 mm  or  other Canon lenses.
