It was a great compact prism optic, it did exactly what it was supposed to. I'm pretty disappointed they discontinued it. So much for the lifetime guarantee. I'd have bought more. The didn't even give it time to catch on. So disappointed.

I have both the 536 and 332 and absolutely love them both.....wish I had bought more of them before they were discontinued!!!! I can't believe people prefer an lpvo with its associated bulk over a compact prism! Especially at the ranges a .5.56/.223 are really viable/effective.

I have had my Burris AR 536 scope for 4 years now. It works as good today as the day I got it. I love this scope. I have used it for all 4 years and have taken it to training classes and to the Range time after time all 4 years and I have dropped it, banged it and it has been well used. Always holds zero and works like new still. I hope to get another one soon. Love this scope.

So the eye relief is miserable, but comparable... that’s what you get with prism optics. I learned a new phrase that wasn’t used in the Navy: NTCH, Nose To Charging Handle. The tube material is some brittle white metal, maybe some aluminum alloy. Based on that maybe I should give a lower rating... I inadvertently dropped my AR536 and it landed on the mounted and hooded FF3, and the whole pic rail the FF3 was mounted to snapped off. The screws broke through, leaving the rail in perfect shape but the threaded holes were obliterated. The FF3 has that protective hood on it... ugly as all heck, would never likely use it, but it protected it as designed! The FF4 hood looks better and probably serves the shooter better since the FF3 hood overhangs on the top making it harder/slower to find the dot. I digress, the FF3 came with the AR536 in the tactical kit, but this review really is about the metal of the AR536 and the Takes Forever Warranty. I sent my scope in for repair/replacement in June, Burris promised 4 week turnaround... no response through the end of July (July 30th) after I gave them longer than their promised timeframe. I asked what was going on and they told me I was approved for replacement (yeah, no surprise) and they were waiting for manufacturing with no clue how long it would take. Apparently they weren’t manufacturing the model at all! They told me 4 weeks in June, it’s now October 3rd and nothing. Last month (September!) I replied again wondering what was going on, suggested I’d take a comparable product, and instead of realizing they haven’t honored their warranty in their promised 4 week timeframe (it’s been 2.5 months or so by that time), they told me I’d have to pay more money to make up the difference. If this was day #1 I would have agreed, but it’s several months later... every day this customer loses more and more faith. I went back to the product page, they don’t even offer my reticle anymore and it looks like I’ll be getting a different one? It’s not the one I bought... the AR reticle which is good for evaluating the lead for moving game animals, and for adjusting for elevation shots (aiming uphill or downhill).. the Ballistic reticle is only a BDC, hunting in Michigan doesn’t need that. I’m stuck here without my optic, hunting season is nearly upon us, and my .308 AR10 sits unused: no zero, no training, just sitting in the safe waiting for Burris to honor their “takes forever warranty”. Guess I won’t get to use my new Modern Sporting Rifle this year! That’s a HUGE FAIL FOR ANY OPTICS MANUFACTURER in to firearms industry!. I can’t even give a straight review on the optic, other than the eye relief (which is my fault), all I can really rate them on is the brittle metal... So that’s why I gave the optic a 3-star, other than materials (and dropping is not a common practice) I can’t judge the performance. If I could rate their warranty service I think you can guess what the score would be. I was unfamiliar with prism optics eye relief issues and was very dissatisfied. I’m familiar with red dot and variable power scopes. That surprisingly caused me to pay an addition $100+ for a Larue Tactical LT-681 offset mount that makes the eye relief manageable but makes the charging handle a bear to use. It was during the removal and mounting of the optic into the Larue mount that I dropped it. The optic still worked, No idea about maintaining zero. I just had chipped metal on it where the rail used to be, I would have left it and used spray paint it if was an older optic, figuring it was still being made/sold I’d send it in. Huge mistake. Better to have just rattle canned it. Given the eye relief sucking so much (that’s on me), had I known before hand I would have bought the RT-6 for the same price, but now I doubt I’ll ever buy another Burris product. I can’t say “do not buy”, but I can’t recommend it either.

I had purchased this optic a couple years ago and didn’t have the chance to take it out of the box and put it on my firearm until July 2019. I attempted to zero it and it would not make adjustments left to right. I recently contacted customer support and they have given me instructions on sending it in for repairs, I just haven’t really had a chance due to the COVID-19 pandemic currently going on. I also have 4 other Burris optics including 3 red dots ( 1 fast fire 2 and two fast fire 3s,) one of the red dots also is defective with a very cloudy red dot.) I have to admit.. extremely disappointed with the problems and defects of 2 optics out of the 5 that I own. I most likely will not purchase any Burris optics anymore. Good luck everyone!

As the product name AR 536 implies, this is 'almost' perfectly suited to an AR rifle platform. It attaches to an a2, a3 m4 profile etc with ease. Even on low setting, the green or red illumination is bright. Using 55 and 62gr rounds at 100yds to sight in, the center mil dot works great, and the 300yd bdc point was spot on as well; my home range doesn't go out much further so I couldn't rate the bdc points out to 600yds. My personal preference would be to have the center dot and the 2nd dot(300yd bdc point both be 1MOA wide for better 100yd grouping, especially with the 5x magnification. All in all though, it performs exceedingly well as designed. The only areas I could see room for improvement would be: slightly better eye relief; the manual states it has 2.5-3.5" but I found it to be much closer to 2-2.25", ymmv. The diopter was dialed all the way in when recieved and that was realistically the only point giving me the greatest clarity in the adjustment range. Also, due to the carry handle mount being integrated into the scope body, once put into the picatinny adapter, this scope fits quite high off the bore on an A3 flattop, my Mini 14 and(just for fun) on my Beretta cx4, making it become more of a 'chin weld' than a cheek weld to their respective stocks for a clear sight picture; I'd love to see this scope offered in the future with the carry handle adapter also removable for a lower height above rail option.

Bought this sight about a month ago and finally got the chance to get it dialed in. Great clarity in the optics and looks great on my Ruger AR-556. Definitely recommend the AR 536.

Very pleased with the 5x sight. I've put about 450 rounds with it on since I installed it on my AR15, and it continues to hold it's zero with no issues. Never had to adjust it after the first time. No fogging. One star off for the eye relief, which is shorter than I would like (listed as 2.5-3.5 inches), but you get used to it after some practice bringing into ready position. You have to mount it at the rear most position on the top rail, or you end up craning your neck for a good sight picture. This displaced my offset iron sights to in front of the optic. However, very happy with the purchase and don't plan on replacing it at all. The forever no fault warranty gives me a lot of piece of mind if this thing ever breaks (although turnaround time is 2-4 weeks).

I got my AR536 in summer 2013 and mounted it on my Colt M4. I had to remove Magpul MBUS rear sight to get proper eye relief. Sight has an great reticle and the illumination is awesome and works great any color day or night or even off. I like how the reticle has built in Ballistic drop for the 55gn ball and 62gn xm855. Scope has great clarity and is quick and intuitive with a little practice. Great service and Warranty can’t be beat!

Bought this for my 5.56 for short to medium range hunting. I love the looks of the sight and I can hit steel all day with it. However I couldn't get it to group shots well and any adjustments I made made the shots worse. I'm having mine repaired because you can't beat the warranty offered on it. If it comes back fixed I'll be over all pleased with the purchase.

Excellent clarity very crisp sight picture. Having both red and green reticles plus the black non Illuminated reticle gives you options for all shooting conditions. Top nocth customer service, I accidentally over tightened one of the mounting bolts and it broke. I called customer service and they sent me a set of replacement bolts right away. The limited eye relief is my only complaint regarding this optic. It may not be the best of option for users that have a fixed or non adjustable stock.

Put this on my LWRC and was really pleased with the overall outcome. My only regret was not shopping around for a better price. Now I know that I really overplayed for this even though it came with a Fastfire 3.

I have several different types of sights on my rifles ie. Aimpoint, Sig Sauer and Nikon. This particular sight is lighter weight and it has more features and more options and more options than any other ones I have. I haven't done anymore than mount and boresight it. If it holds up to .308 recoil I will be pleased.

To all the complaints about A CANTED reticle, you see those two tightening knobs on the left of your mount? Get a wrench and actually tighten down on them. This fixes your canted reticle. It's by design. And I can see by Google's predictive suggestions when you start typing "canted reticle", that Vortex, Primary Arms, and ACOG users have also had this same problem. Those are all also Prism style scopes, meaning it's not the device, it's a user error when not mounting with enough torque. I'm also guilty, but upon seeing A BURRIS Rep's reply to another complaint about the CANTED reticle, I tried their suggestion, and it worked.
