Worth Every Penny

Darned expensive, but excellent glass. Much easier to clean than those cheap filters.

Quality costs

B+W makes some of the best filters around. I know they're expensive, but do not put a cheap, unmulticoated filter on a quality piece of glass. A brass frame also helps keep filters from binding to the lens. [Keep a rubber jar lid remover in your bag if any filter does.] Read the text on the website for the qualities of the glass B+W uses.

Excellent, as expected

As best I can tell this filter does not degrade the optical quality of the L series lenses I mount it on. (I use a 77-82 step ring to accommodate several lenses)

Nice!

Mounted on a 24-70 II, don't use a UV filter also or you will have slight vignetting at 24mm.

Works well

Have never used another brand so I have no frame of reference but I am happy with the results I get.

The best polarizer I have ever owned!

I bought this for my 16-35 Canon wide angle zoom because at 82mm I had no other polarizer that fit. It killed me to push the button for this and place the order, due the cost, but the only filter I use is a polarizer, so I needed one. I could have bought a less expensive one, but after doing some research, I decided to go the extra. I have 3 other polarizers now, and have owed others based on various lenses I have owned. This is by far the best one. The fit is great, and the effect is more natural (to me - subjective opinion) than what some the less expensive ones do ... less "over done". I ordered one for my 77MM lenses.

You get what you pay for...

Once you get over the price, there's no denying this is a high quality filter. Built well and very effective, its worth the sting to your wallet!

Superb Quality

Everything about this filter says quality. Very well made, very heavy, will last you a lifetime if you take care of it. With digital you don't really need too many filters, but a Circular Polarizer is a must in some situations, and this one really does the job. The only negative is the price.

About B + W 82 Circular Polarizer

Kaesemann filters are constructed from select polarizing foils and the finest optical class.
• They were designed for apochromatic and fast telephoto lenses, but all lenses benifit from their quality.
• Kaesemann polarizers are edge sealed and are ideal for extreme climate conditions.

• Polarizer filters evenly increase color saturation of all colors (except black and white), creating deep, rich scenics.
• They add contrast for dramatic skies and ariel shots.
• Polarizers also eliminate glare from highly reflected surfaces like glass and water.
• Polarizers are two part lenses that rotate, allowing you to select the degree of additional saturation, contrast and glare reduction desired.
•They come in two varieties.
• Circular-for all types of cameras (required for beam splitting metering systems commonly found in auto-focus SLR's and in most current TTL Slr's; check your camera's manual).
• Linear-for rangefinders and older SLR metering systems.

B + W 82 Circular Polarizer Features

  • Ideal general use outdoor color filter.
  • Gives the same deep contrast and glare reducing properties to black and white photography.
  • Combines with Red filters for incredibly dramatic black and white landcsapes.
