I'm a big fan of B+W filters so I knew when I started to get into M glass that I was gonna need a few. For one thing I wanted an ND filter to be able to achieve some creamy bokeh shots and it does exactly that. Very well made, filters 100% recommend.
Where precision and quality meet, the 86mm Master 802M ND 0.6 2-Stop MRC Nano Neutral Density Filter stands out. This B+W ND filter, expertly designed to reduce light by two f-stops, delivers a noticeable impact on your photography. It enables you to use f/4 instead of f/8 for selective focus, or 1/15 sec instead of 1/60 sec for a long exposure effect, offering greater creative control over your images.
The filter is color-neutral, making it an essential component of any serious DSLR photography equipment kit. Crafted from finely ground and polished special glass, this ND filter ensures the highest optical quality, without negatively impacting the performance of your high-quality lens.
The filter employs advanced thin-film technology, which not only enhances the ND filter effect but also optimizes it through a unique coating combination. This includes a multi-layer anti-reflective component with 7 layers per filter side, effectively eliminating unwanted reflections.
The final layer of the filter features dirt- and water-repellent properties, providing comprehensive protection and making it easy to clean and maintain the filter pane. The light attenuation is uniform across the entire visible range, resulting in optimally color-neutral image results.
Please note, ND filters are not suitable for direct visual solar observation due to the risk of blinding. They allow UV- and IR-rays through, which can harm the eyes. For direct observation of the sun, special sun filters are available from astronomy suppliers.
