Questions & Answers

BARBARA C : can these be recharged using any AA battery charging unit?DARINA B : Hi Marlane, In regards to your question my answers is no, I wouldn't charge these batteries in any charger. You have to note they are 1900 mAh and any batteries under 2000 mAh are considered low-discharge batteries. They need a proper charger to use their full capacity afterwards. My favorite charger for example (Powerex Maha MH-C801D) can do standard charging for my 2700 mAh batteries and it can also do soft-charging for the 1900 mAh (two different modes of the charger). I am always very careful choosing a charger as that will determine the performance and life of the batteries. I would recommend getting the original charger, or if you are looking for a better quality bigger charger like mine for 8 batteries check out the Maha charger. I highly recommend it.JOHN V : Sanyo previously said it was ok to use other chargers. They have changed their position and now only recommend their chargers. MICHAEL C : Absolutely not. I think the marketing material makes this clear. You must buy one set of 4 and a charger, but they're well worth it.JOE C : Well,, I do. It has worked just fine for me.JOHAN M : I suppose that this depends on your charger ! I have AA battery chargers that have to be switched manually from charging NiCad to NiMh, which these Sanyo's are, and vice versa. I also have AA battery chargers that do this switching automatically. I would personally not try to charge a NiMh battery in a Nicad ONLY charger and vice versa. I think that there is a chance of overheating and / or possibly affecting the chemical build up of these batteries in either way. This then affects their performance and reliability. So, again, check out your charger first if it has an automatic internal switch over feature. If it is a very old one I would not count on having this feature. Check your instruction manual if you still have this.RICHARD U : I'm not sure. I have the MAHA MH-C808M charger and it works fine. I haven't used any other chargers.DAVID T : yes, any charger for NiMH batteries will work. I use a La Crosse BC-700.DARRYL K : I'm not sure about what to use. I use a Rinpoche Ni-MH Smart Charger that I got as a gift from Wal-Mart year ago. I believe any charger will work but I would try to not let them charge more than calculated time. For instance my charger puts out 130 mA so it can charge a dead battery in less than 10 hours or overnight. Hope this helps.HALLIE R : I don't know about "any" but we use just an ordinary generic one. Works fine, and the batteries are FANTASTIC. I don't ever want another kind of rechargeable battery.Danielle G : Sure can!NORMAN A : Yes, of course.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?Allen H : 1. 1500 charge cycles 2. Holding 75% full charge for 3 yearsMARVIL H : I have read many good reviews about these batteries. They were delivered in a timely fashion and were charged and ready to use. They recycle my flash quicker than the previous batteries that I used. I'm very pleased with this purchase.DARRYL K : Best batteries for holding a charge, level discharge rate for flash.DENNIS J : Best rechargable batteries on the market. Incredible shelf life.DELBERT H : Great reviews on a number of sites!

It is as advertised

I can't really tell if these have more peak power than the standard Sanyos, but they haven't disappointed yet.

So Far So Good

These were charged out of the box and ready to use. I'm using them in my Canon 580EX II's and I've only had them out twice so far, but they seem to work just fine. Recycle time seems to be just as good if not better than regular Alkyne AA batteries.

Great alkaline replacement

At first I was skeptical that a rechargeable battery could replace the alkalines I use in my equipment, especially with manufacturers warning that rechargeable will perform so badly. However, these batteries work. My primary use for these is with my Tascam DR-40. I could easily burn through three dozen alkalines in a weekend. I've run some simple tests using my DR-40 and the rechargeables last as long or longer than the equivalent alkalines. I also recommend the Maha PowerEx MH-C801D for recharging these batteries.

Might out last me

Haven't had these that long and so I'm still breaking them in. They seem to be doing all that they should be doing.. Have placed these in some night lights in the house and then charging in the morning. If they live up to the 1500 recycles that had been said they may outlive me. I would buy them again and may do so in the future

Recycles fast!

I need good rechargeable AAs for all the flash work I do. As such, I'd been using batteries with a higher mAh rating than these for the extra juice per charge. However, I finally realized that what's much more valuable to me is a quicker recycle performance so I don't miss so many potential shots while the flash is gearing back up after firing. The Eneloops are SO much better than their competitors on this critical quality (and the mAh rating is fine as well.) Just buy them!

Limited Use

Got these to use in flashlights, however, the metal contact on the bottom of the D adapters doesn't match up with the springs down in the flashlight, therefore no contact, and no power. I may find some other use for them in something else.

unusable in the USA

For some odd reason I was sent this product with a European style plug on the charger. So it was not really usable for me since I live in the USA, not Europe or the parts of Asia that use the same plug. Very strange. Obviously there is no indication of this in the description. Had to send them back.

Whew!!!! I'm impressed.

These batteries absolutely kick butt. I think I know what Sanyo has done. When these batteries first came off of my charger my voltmeter was reading almost 1.4 volts and for a AA NiMH that is impressive. These batteries may cost more but their performance is fantastic!

The Best on the Market!

I use these batteries in everything. I wouldn't trust my equipment to anything else. They hold their charge longer and last a very longtime. My flash unit recycle faster than ever using the Eneloop batteries.

The only batteries I will use now

By Russell L.

These batteries are by far the best rechargeables I have used to date. I purchased these for use in my Canon 550EX speedlight after hearing good things about the Eneloops. Right out of the package, without charging them, I was able to get a little over 400 flash cycles out of them over the span of 2 months (the final 100 were shot outside in 20 degree F weather). I have never been able to get that out of any other battery, lithium, alkaline or NIMH. I am sure these batteries will last eve...

The new, improved eneloop... HR-3UTGA (AA)
Eneloop - ready to use rechargeable battery. Since its launch in November 2005 eneloop has become well-known around the world as it has revolutionized the consumer-use rechargeable battery segment with its unique features:
• Rechargeable approximately 1,500 times
• Coming pre-charged, making it usable immediately after purchase
• Its unique design departing from the look of traditional batteries

What is the difference between the "old" and the "new" improved eneloop?
• An extra of 500 charging cycles - instead of being rechargeable 1000 times, the new eneloop is even rechargeable up to 1500 times.
• Improved self-dischcharge. Even though the self discharge of the old eneloop was already very impressive, you can store the new eneloop for 3 years and still it will retain 75% of its capacity.
• You need a battery, which is reliable even when having cold temperatures? Before eneloop was suitable for temperatures as low as -10°C - now even until -20°C.
• The new eneloop is even more environment-friendly as it is pre-charged with solar energy in Japan.

All original SANYO battery packages containing the improved eneloop have the information "Up to 1500 times" on the front.
