There's a slight sharpness and aperture trade-off but nothing that makes this a deal-breaker. And the extra reach you get makes it great for nature photography.

Exactly what I was expecting. Paired it with the RF 100m - 500m on the Canon R6 and love it.

This extender has its useful places, but not where are you think they are. The extra reach might help shooters going for birds in flight, but it's four times the work to remain on the target and thus keep the focus. At its best, which is 700 mm, the bird would have to remain in an almost hover like position or else the shooter extremely lucky. The fit and function are just as precise as any other canon product and perhaps the only time I use their leather bag is to store this converter. On a tripod and shooting the Moon it is the cats meow. Static shots where you have the time to work the magnifying glass and get the focus just right will bring out the best that this extender can offer. It's a cheaper alternative to grabbing some extra reach without having to sacrifice some smaller dollar fixed lens in which you will lose two stops or more of exposure. You have to really dial in your auto focus menus to match the subject that you're trying to hit, sports, action, birds, etc.

Easy to use, lightweight. Have not seen much difference in my shooting, but need to use more. Be aware that with Canon's 100-500 lens (for Mirrorless camera R5), and extender attached, you will only be able to access 300-500 range, nothing lower.

I wasn't smart enough to figure out that I had to actually extend the lens to attach the extender, but so far so good! It does the job.

I like this lens because it is compact and lightweight, and it does extend the reach of my existing lens. However, it only works at 300mm plus with my Canon 100-500 mm lens, which was a bit of a surprise. In fact, you must extend your lens to 300 mm or the extender won't even attach. Use of the extender, of course, adds f-stops, but that shouldn't be an issue if the ambient light is bright enough.

works better than I expected- I wish Canon had figured out a way to make this without limiting it to 300mm- 500mm and not the full range- but it works great and I am pleased with shots I have made with it on my RF 100-500

I use it with the RF 100-500. It works pretty good from 300mm to 500mm. Lose a little bit of sharpness on the RF 100-500. It is good for the bird photograph.

Works well and appears to not degrade image. I have only used it with the RF 100-500 and it rarely comes off.

Good quality, in line with Canon standards. Feels solid and heavy in your hands. I bought it to use with the RF 800 f/11 to get that extra reach I may need in some conditions. My favorite genre is bird photography and the reach is never enough. I'm a happy owner of the EF 2.0 and 1.4 series III extenders and I'm seeing the same quality build in this new RF extender. A little on the pricey side but this has been the same with all the RF new lenses. Be careful and do your homework if you plan to buy it because only a limited number of lenses can accept it.

Doesn’t slow down focusing or diminish lens sharpness at all. I use it on my RF 100-500mm lens. I just wish it would allow me to zoom back lower than the 300mm (420mm with the adapter). That’s one of the limits due to the construction of the lens. I’ve also used it on the RF800 mm lens with surprising clarity on photos of a Snail Kite.

Bought this teleconverter like others did thinking that it would work with the RF 70-200 f/2.8. But nope! Only works with a couple of lenses and only partially at that. I really don’t understand the thinking in bringing this to market. Who the hell makes these decisions, because they really really should be fired. Lame! Absolutely LAME!

Nice addition, but not like a lens.
