The title says it all...from landscape to astrophotography, this baby can do it all and do it very well! It could be the the only lens that you need if need be!

Liked the size and balance on my 1dx II, quick to focus and very wide coming from a 50 mm prime. Adorama shipped quickly, double boxed and in bubble wrap. All pics handheld straight out of camera jpgs, reduced to upload

The product I was looking for at the price I expected. A few "add-ons", but I already had most of them.

Bought this for an out door event and the photos were no less than awesome. What an amazing lens. Photos were popping with color and sharp. The range was enough to get those crowd shots and smaller groups all while keeping the quality up.

Supurb lens, my main reason for not giving it five stars was the weight.

One of the best UWA lenses money can buy! Build quality is typical for an L, image quality resets the bar!

I JUST UPGRADED TO THIS LENS FROM A 15 YEAR OLD 17-40 F4L.THE 17-40 WAS A WORK HORSE AND PRODUCED SOME AWESOME IMAGES. THIS LENS PS IMPROVED IN SO MANY AREAS. I KNOW IT WILL PRODUCE EVEN GREATER I,AGES.

Received the lens with a big scratch on the front. Which is quite strange since the lens shipped with lens cover on and inside lens bag. No possible way it was damaged in transit. Contacted customer service which sent an RA but it was ground, not even 2 day air. Also, was a bit surprised they didn't offer to send a replacement first which means I have no lens to shoot with. They have to first receive this lens back (via ground shipping then send replacement. Will update when I finally get good lens back.

Awesome! Only wish I hadn’t tried to go cheap initially; I originally bought the 17-40mm f/4 L. I was unhappy with its lack of sharpness as compared to my 70-200mm f/2.8.

This lens is finishing off my Holy Trinity of Canon 2.8 lenses and is my new go to over the 24-70. As a primarily landscape photographer it is a bit heavy compared to the f/4 but the ability to shoot Astro with the same lens is worth the weight. I also shoot concerts and sports and other indoor events where the wide open aperture will come in handy! The starburst this lens creates while stopped down is incredibly beautiful as well!

This is a great lens. I previously had a 3rd party 14mm for wide angle use that I rarely used because of poor picture quality. First day using this, photos were colorful and sharp corner to corner.

The only "L" wide zoom to have. So clean you can pick your teeth with it!

I recently returned from a trip to Sedona, AZ, using this lens for landscape and astro photography. I can honestly say this lens did NOT disappoint. I previously owned the f/4 IS version and had some concerns about losing the IS in favor of the faster aperture. In practice, I had no issues at all. The lens is easily as sharp and having the extra stop was an advantage in low light on the tripod during golden hour and astro shooting, when you wouldn't be using IS anyway. I definitely recommend this lens if you need or want the extra stop of light.

I upgraded from the Version 2 of this lens. I do real estate imaging. Focus is more precise on this lens and there are less sun flares and ghosting. There is a bit of vignetting at low f-stop, but easily fixed in PS or Premiere. So far this lens has been an excellent upgrade!

It’s very sharp even at lowest apertures and in corners. I’m happy, clients happy, we all win. Kinda big / bulky tho. Well made. What you expect from a canon L series.

Really good lens. Good image quality all across the sensor and throughout the focal ranges. This was the only lens I used on my most recent trip to Yosemite and was more than enough to capture all of the stunning scenes that I got to experience. Using it in a Canon EOS R and the size and weight isn’t too bad. Definitely recommend it.

"This lens is a legend for a reason. Super wide, and at f/2.8, it can handle the most challenging lighting conditions. It’s also a fantastic lens for video, and is one of the best Canon lenses on the market."
The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is an indispensable ultra wide-angle zoom lens for professional and enthusiast photographers who demand superlative operation and performance, in virtually any condition. Its 16-35mm focal range provides superb control of perspective, helping you capture pictures and movies with amazing, dramatic compositions limited only by your imagination.
Combining outstanding image quality, a fast, constant aperture and a rugged design, the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM delivers eye-catching results whether capturing detailed, nuanced landscapes, dramatic interiors and much more. Both still and moving images can be captured with consistent edge-to-edge sharpness, improved peripheral illumination and reduced distortion at extreme wide angles - especially important when using SLR cameras with full-frame sensors.
Engineered with high-resolution photography and videography in mind, the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM provides the optical performance necessary for critical applications, while delivering the renowned function and feel you've come to expect from Canon's celebrated L-series lenses.
High-performance L-series ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with constant f/2.8 maximum aperture.
The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM has a bright constant maximum aperture of f/2.8, which provides superb control over depth of field and the ability to maintain the same aperture throughout the zoom range. This is particularly helpful when shooting outdoors at dusk or in inclement weather, or indoors in dimly lit rooms. At f/2.8, the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM offers a bright view when composing images using the camera's viewfinder.
All-new optical design for significant improvements in outer and corner sharpness.
The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM features a new optical design engineered to deliver images of remarkable clarity and depth - a magnificent complement to the large, high-resolution sensors in the SLRs favored by today's advanced photographers. It employs two large-diameter double-surface GMo lenses plus a ground aspherical lens to help decrease distortion, curvature of field and astigmatism. Two UD lenses help to reduce chromatic aberration, leading to precise color rendition, accurate edge-to-edge detail plus excellent contrast throughout the lens's zoom range. This means sharp landscapes, reduced distortion in the edges of the frame and an overall improvement in image quality no matter the subject.
Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC) help to significantly reduce flare and ghosting.
The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM features both Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC) on its lens elements to help combat reflections, flare and ghosting, and deliver clean images with reduced aberrations from reflected light. Subwavelength Coatings help prevent reflections by arranging an array of wedge-shaped nanostructures on the lens's surface that are smaller than the wavelength of visible light and are able to help control reflection and flare. Air Sphere Coating technology puts an ultra-low refractive layer on the lens element designed to significantly reduce both flare and ghosting. These coatings, in concert with the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM's overall optical formula, help to deliver a clean image to the camera's sensor, which can decrease the need for post-production.
