This flash has eneabled me to shoot stage productions, night shots, and numerous images that were in less than ideal lighting situations, without having to depend on image correction software. It provides uniform lighting at the click of the shutter. It makes lighting correction one less thing to worry about!

I will use this product with a hot shoe slave to get more distant flash exposure.

Works good, I don't shoot much with a flash, but it does what I want. Can't go wrong with a Canon product.

I have a 580EX II Speedlight. It is fantastic! However, there are times I would prefer to carry around a more compact, lightweight unit such as the 220 EX. The 220 EX works great for those applications where a bigger, more powerful unit such as the 580 EX are not needed.

Bought the Canon Speedlite 220EX for my Canon G9. I find it to be very compatible with the camera and not nearly as bulky as the more expensive higher-end Canon flash units. The compact flash is well constructed, lightweight, and has good range. I certainly recommend the 220EX for any compatible compact cameras.

I bought this to use with a Digital Rebel to do field inspections for insurance and mortgage companies. The flash on my Digital Rebel quit and I needed more output anyway. I took upwards of 2,000-3,000 shots with this flash with absolutely no problems. It took a beating and kept on working.

Designed for automatic operation only, the 220Ex Flash Unit excels at providing natural-looking balanced flash exposures. When attached to the EOS Ix, EOS Elan II/Elan IIe/IIe, or EOS Rebel G, the 220Ex incorporates the superior technology of Canon's unique E-TTL evaluative pre-stored flash exposure control system, FE Lock for a dimension of creative control and FP Flash(High Speed Sync) for flash photography up to maximum shutter speed. When used with other EOS cameras, or the T90, it operates as a TTL autoflash (off-the-film flash metering.)
When in E-TTL operation, flash exposure is measured and controlled by the camera in combination with Canon's AIM system. Subject position, ambient light level, evaluative metering and pre-flash data are instantly analyzed, including heavy backlighting or reflections from background windows or mirrors.
The Canon Speedlite 220 Ex, developed primarily for the EOS Ix, EOS ELANII/ELANIIE and EOS Rebel G, is a high-performance, fully-automatic, compact, clip-on E-TTL/TTL flash unit. This Speedlite offers a wide range of distinctive features that set it apart from the competition.
