Justin L : will this fit on my T1i?MERCER W : I don't see why it wouldnt...I use it on my t3i...JONAH F : Yep. It'll have roughly the field of view of a 50mm lens on 35mm film.RONALD C : The T1i takes EF and EF-S lens. This is the same for the entire Rebel series. So it will fit.GIOVANNA V : Yes, it will fit, and it's a great lens, totally recommended.
Shopper : For a street photography/photojournalism class, it was suggested I get a 28mm or 35mm wide angle lens. I'm deciding which one to purchase, if you can help explain the difference between these two lenses? If it helps, I shoot with a Canon D60 (purchased from Adorama.) Thank you, JenMICHAEL W : Jen, Unfortunately I am not the right person to ask. I am using the 28mm on my Canon XSI which is not a full frame camera (I believe the D60 is). I also haven't used a 35mm on my camera. I can say that the 28mm lens offers a very good image quality and is pretty fast. After doing quite a bit of research, I decided that for the price and what I wanted to do, the 28mm lens would be hard to beat. mikeBOB M : Hi Jen, I have the 28mm but I don't have the 35. My point is to remember that with the APS-C sensor which is in the D60 there is a 1.6 camera crop. So the angle of view of the 28mm is the same as a 44mm lens and the 35 angle of view is the same a 56mm. So if you want something a little wider you have to go with the shorter focal length. Happy Shooting, BobJEROME W : I would take a long hard look at the 50MM prime. I shoot with a 28 and 50, but do some research. I unfortunately dont remember the photographers name, very famous, shot almost his entire career with a 50. But I love them both, I would not do the 35 however.
todd h : hello, will i get the same shot with this lens as I would with the 50mm 1.8 on my t2i on a budget?ZIAUR R : Hello Todd, both them r prime lens, pretty sharp as compared with other lens. After messing around with the zoom between 28 and 50 I think in actual use the difference is about 2 big steps forward or back. on other way u might get 25% more wide then 50mm. i am using this lens for last few days and m loving it.ROBERT P : Todd, I'm not sure what you're asking but I'll tell you the following: I have a T2i and this lens gives the effect of a 55mm lens on a full frame camera because of the T2i's 1.6 crop factor. As far as speed goes; it's slower than the 50mm f1.8 of course but it's a very sharp lens...the photos it takes are pretty nice. I'd rate it up with the 50mm for sure. It's a bit pricey but worth the cash...it fulfills a good focal length; for close in shooting and for landscapes also.CARL B : We have the 50mm 1.8 and a 60mm 2.8 and just added this one to our collection of primes. This lens offers a wider shot than the 50mm and I have found I tend to use it more often than the 50mm.REID W : Not sure because this was our first purchase of this kind. WE noticed that the picture is much sharper, clearer. We thot the picture would be wider, that we'd get a more wider picture like a wide screen TV. so, not sure how to answer that ques about a 50 mm. You might want to consult with a professional about the differences.SAM V : This lense is overpriced. I would venture to say, you would more than likely get the same results.

Sharp, portable and cheap

This lens is excellent value. Very sharp at wide open quite f2.8 helps me get better picture in low light condition. The design is robust with metal mount very light weight. I use it for my everyday walk around set up

Research before you shop

I should have gotten the 28mm f/1.8 AF wide angel for better quality and lighting, and not the 28mm f/2.8 AF. Unfortunately, this was a gift. The focus mechanism has problems with crisp shots. I would shop, research and compare before making a purchase.

Must have quality lens at a good price

A fixed focal length lens is always thought to be a better performer for the price than a zoom lens. When shooting indoors this wide angle lens does the job very well. I recomend it highly.

Good for night shooting

I bought this lens for night shooting, and it works. I have tested it in very poor light. It allows me to shoot using hands in night conditions even without IS function. That is great. However, it is not a very wide angle lens. It works as I expected. Thanks Canon!

Not impressed

Just average not really bad but I just couldn't bond with this lens and sent it back. Wasn't particularly sharp and contrast and color were just ok. I have read other reviews that rated this lens good but that wasn't my experience. However it is compact and lightweight.

Great Lens in a Small Package

This is one of my favorite lenses. I don't own any "L" series yet but I don't know how much better you can get for a 28mm on a crop sensor body. This lens gives me consistent undistorted images. I use it for Landscapes, and Large group portraits. Hasn't failed me yet.

Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 AutoFocus Wide Angle

Used this for a few days to shoot some funky portraits and some wide angle for a wedding. The autofocus was super loud (it's not a USM lens so I'm not surprised) and a little slow. If you use it with a good camera, the images are actually pretty sharp. So, if you are on a budget, it's not a bad wide angle, although if you are shooting with an APS-C camera, than you probably should look for an EF-S lens to accomodate the crop factor to get a true wide angle. If you wanna have a backup 28, this is a good choice, otherwise save your money and get a nicer lens that is USM, IS, etc.

Very good "normal" prime for APS-C

Pretty good little lens. It is one of the original Canon primes, released back in 1987. The focal length is perfect for a crop sensor camera. This lens is tiny, light, focuses quickly and accurately. The motor is a bit noisy, but not distracting in normal usage. My only complaint is that it could be a stop faster, but the f1.8 version of this lens is more than double the price. All in all a great purchase and easily matches my 50mm 1.8 in sharpness and picture quality - and it focuses much more accurately. I notice the colors are nice and vibrant from this lens as well.

Great Lens for the Price

Great lens for the price, it's no "L" quality, but the price reflects that. It's a great walk-around lens for a 1.6x digital. It's small and unobtrusive.

Better than zoom lens

I only owned this lens a few months. The auto focus was extremely loud. The sharpness was better than my cheap canon zoom lens, but not even close to the sharpness of my Canon 50mm f1.8 (the best lens for the money) This lens is OK but I wasn't extremely excited about it.

Great lens for the price

Highly portable wide-angle lens with a good price-to-performance ratio. Its light weight of 6.5 oz. (185g) makes it ideal as your standard wide-angle lens. The high-precision aspherical lens minimizes distortion and other aberrations for sharp and high-contrast images.
