Grace P : Can this be used on a canon rebel t7?MICHAEL S : Yes it can. Any EF (or EF-S) lens can be used with a rebel camera. Just note that the rebel series used an ASP-C sensor with a 1.6X crop factor. Simply what that means is that any lens’ mm designation is multiplied by 1.6 compared to that lens on a full frame camera (5D, 6D, R5, R6) So this lens is an EF 35mm that is the equivalent of a 56mm lens on a full frame camera. 50mm is the classic standard lens because it is approximately what the human eye sees in real life. This lens will be just 6mm closer than that. It is a very good lens.PAUL K : Yes it can. Any EF or EF - S mount lens will fit your Canon Rebel T7.KIM T : Yes, the EF series is compatible with the Rebel T7 according to the listing on this website.

I would recommend investing in full frame lenses even for a crop sensor APS-C camera like the 80D. They are more money, but if you ever look into using full frame canon cameras or other cameras using the EF mount system or an adapted full frame, you will not want EF-S lenses because they don't provide full coverage for the frame, and there will be a major vignette. As far as your current situation goes, a 35mm EF-S and 35mm EF lens will fill the frame of a crop sensor, such as the 80D, equally well. This particular lens is one of the sharpest and cleanest 35mm lenses every made. It beats the 35mm Canon L series glass on many levels. One last note, the crop factor of the 80D will make images from a 35mm lense look about like images produced from a 50mm lens on a full frame sensor. And for some opinion: this is my favorite Canon lens I own, even with my collection of L glass.ANDREAS G : It works great with crop sensor cameras too. I've used it with both my 5D and EOS-M. Cannon 35 mm f2

This is a sharp lens. Having owned several l lenses which are superb I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality. I also like the fact it is easy on the shoulders.Don’t buy the pro optic hood .You won’t be able to put on the original lens cap. I had to pay extra to buy the hood.

Canon 35mm F2 IS

Excellent for photography. Love it. Beautiful lens with a wide aperture, and the focal length is unique. I haven’t used a 35mm lens before but will certainly be doing so more going forward. What this lens isn’t great for is video, at least if you want noiseless autofocus. The lens makes a lot of (undesired sound if you are using Canon’s dual pixel video autofocus. Still, glad I got the lens. Portable and lightweight. Very nice that it has image stabilization.

Great for learning / teaching photography

Classic lens for portraits and landscape, really anything! So many options for the f-stop, nice big apertures too! Makes the focusing difficult though if you are not experienced, but therefore makes it a great lens for beginners learning the basics and the techniques of still life and portrait photography!

Perfect travel lens

This is a great lens! I take it and my 24-105 and my FF camera as my travel kit. I usually use the 24-105 during the day and use this lens at night. It really is an impressive lens...and if your subject is not moving, with its 4 stops of IS, you can get clear shots at lower ISO than with the 35 f/1.4---which is a very heavy lens that I would not want to travel with. It really is a great lens...for me. At its current price point I think it is a steal.

Sharp, Light Wide(ish Lens with IS

It arrived as if it was a new lens. Glass was clean. It is nice at F/2, but gets nice and really sharp stopped down to around F/2.5~2.8. It is light weight, and the IS works well, but with does make a modest amount of sound with IS on. Great on my APS-C 80D.

Wonderful lens

I was very surprised at how sharp this lens is. It’s definitely something I’m glad to add to my camera bag. It creates beautiful bokeh & i noticed that even when I push the ISO a bit more, the grain is minimal which is not the case with any of my other lenses (70-200mm f2.8 & 50mm f1.8

A great piece of glass

I picked up this lens about 2 weeks ago to use on my 6D. Sharp as can be, excellent color rendition. One note using it wide open at f2.0 the lens produces a lot of vignetting on the corners, it completely goes away at f4.0. Using it wide open is not an issue because it can be easily removed in post production.

Soft edges

I love the focal length of this lens on my Canon 6D. Much more than my 50mm 1.4, however this lens is much softer around the edges, I'm not a pro but Ive used my camera for over a decade and from the lenses I've shot with this is the most soft and adds bokeh when you don't necessarilly want it. Overall for the price its a great lens and the IS is awesome and much quieter than my 100mm macro and 24-105 Mark I lens. Ill continue to shoot with the lens to learn its quirks but overall I just wish it was a little bit sharper through its range.

That's the lens I've been waiting for, for so many years! A 35mm fast lens, with a very good build and optical quality, with an efficient stabilizer and a fast, nearly silent AF. A dream came true. The Canon 35mm f/2 IS lens is a modern day update to a versatile, compact and lightweight wide-angle Canon classic. The EF 35mm f/2 IS USM offers image stabilization, and what Canon says is image quality and construction designed for use on any EOS digital camera. With a redesigned mechanical and optical structure, the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM features a GMo aspherical lens element for high image quality with improved performance in the periphery. It incorporates a rear focus system and ring-type USM for faster, more precise autofocus performance. Full-time manual focus enables manual focusing while in AF mode, a micro-stepping drive provides quieter operation and a low speed focus drive delivers optimal results for video shooting. Canon Optical Image Stabilizer system delivers the equivalent effect of 4 stops and can detect normal shooting or panning, and automatically switches to the optimal IS mode. Compact and lightweight, the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM has an 8-blade circular aperture diaphragm for soft backgrounds, a minimum focusing distance of 0.79 ft./0.24m, plus optimized lens coatings for minimized ghosting and flare.
