Great lens, but not for an amateur
First off this isn't a "standard lens", it's unlike any 50mm lens currently in production. The ef 50mm f/1.2L is a specialty lens. I know, your asking "How can a 50mm be a specialty lens"? To answer the question you have to understand exposure. Actually, you have to be a "master" of exposure. When you set this baby to f/1.2 it creates the most creative DOF you can imagine. Fantastic Lens
I own the 24, 35, 50, 85, 100, 135, 200 2.8, 24-70, 17-40, 70-200 2.8, and 300 2.8 L lenses. I can say that out of all those fantastic lenses, this one is the best at low light focusing. I do about 50% weddings, so at receptions, I always use this lens. the build quality is excellent, the bokeh is beautiful and creamy, and the focus is fast, smooth and accurate. I dont use 1.2 a whole lot, but when I do, it is absolutely fantastic. I use this on a 5dmk2, 5d, 1dmk3, and 1dmk4
