Great kit for higher-end flash
I wanted to get the best flash I could afford as I had had poor experiences with cheaper flash units in the past. The Canon 580EX-II does not disappoint in any regard. With it's high output I have successfully used it for enhancing 100'+ shots in some conditions. Coupled with the bracket kit, you have nearly everything you need for a versatile off-camera mount and diffuser suitable for photojournalism and candid portrait photos. Totally unexpected of the 580EX-II was extremely rapid recycling that could keep up with 6+ frames-per-second sequencing during most exposure situations, even with the diffuser mounted! You will not get anything close to this performance with a cheaper flash. The swivel mount (mind your fingers don't get pinched as a previous reviewer noted) lets you keep the flash a respectable distance above the lens in portrait and landscape orientations. Add the diffuser, and you have a great combo for professionally lit candids. The NiMH batteries and charger were convenient, but the batteries did not give what I felt was an excellent service life-they were about average. (Note there are now better batteries available that hold their charge longer, and are, in fact, sold pre-charged!) Overall, a good deal-everything in the kit is still in regular use two years after purchasing it.

Very happy camper
The kit arrived quickly and everything works perfectly.. I notice the off camera sync cord's strain relief is slightly under sized thus allowing some wiggle of the wires--but I am not overly concerned about it, as I always handle my equipment gently and with respect. The flash is a dream machine--. This is a great deal.

Everything works great!
The flash works well. The bracket and cord work fine with my Rebel XT.
