I don't see the savings in this package

Currently, a single 580 EXII is selling for $395 with a rebate. Two of these is [$], leaving a difference of $229.15. The ST-E2 is selling for $229.95. I guess .80 cents is a savings.

Great Combo!

Great Combo for the price, you can make many light combinations with these guys. I added a powerful light system to my compact G9, you can get nearly professional photos out of the small G9, by just casting a lot of light with this kit, meaning lower ISO, consequently better IQ, not to mention its 12.1 MP. If your intention is to have a strong and capable light pack on the go, you gotta get one. I wish canon cameras could trigger external flashes with their own built-in flash, like Nikon does, meaning you would have two units to be trigged more fill-in from the camera for instance. Even without this third light possibility both 580 can nicely tackle most works. As I said, my G9 behaves like a pro when playing with two 580Ex well positioned. I also like the freedom to point the flash with my left hand while shooting my 40D in my right hand, there is no limit for light perspective, no cords,no mess. It is not easy to work only with flash light, but once you get used to the duo you get outstanding results. I strong recommend flash diffusers in both units for more natural light caracteristic and also lite discs for bouced light effects and enhanced light experience I'm very pleased with it.
