Questions & Answers

MIGUEL S : anyone know if these fit nikon lenses? (of same diameter of course)ANDREW R : Canon, of course, specifies use with their EF mount lenses (and select model point-n-shoot cameras as well). Fit with other lenses may be possible in theory (as long as they are equipped with a 58mm filter ring), however such use is not explicitly stated by the manufacturer.

Getting closer in your macros

I paired the 250 with my 100mm macro and boy did it let me get closer. I'm still experimenting with how close I can get.

great close-up lens

This is a great close-up lens that allows one to take beautiful macro pictures. Love the compact size and the great results I get with this lens.

Wont fit some lens

This item was suppose to fit my canon 60 mm macro - did not. Surprised, since it is a canon item as well. The sizing of lens and such things as filters can be very confusing, so not surprised that it did not. Appeared to be off only about 4 or 5 mm. Adorama did do a quick refund - KUDOs to them.

Good Product

Sharp pictures, tight Depth of Field, and well made. Get the Canon bayonet adapter at the same time for ease of use. I use a Canon G1X.

excellent very happy choice

I picked this over the numbered add-on filters and some other better quality filter, and am so very glad. You see how the metal edge looks thicker than the screw on filters, that is because the glass is that thick! This is sure to be the heaviest screw on item for your lens and the benefit you get is in the optical quality.

Great for video use as well

This lens works great as a close-up lens for my HFS100. If you plan on zooming in though, you will need a tripod/fluid head and a focusing rail. The magnification you can achieve by zooming in is just too much for hand held shots. I had ordered the Adorama focusing rail (part # MFRS) with the lens. The rail is smooth when adjusting focus during recording. There is no focus shift when zooming.

Very useful to have

I'm quite happy with my close up lens purchase. I'm not ready to invest in a separate macro lens yet, so this allows me to capture close up images with the lenses I already have. It does take a little practice. Auto focus works well with the 18-55 lens (using the 55 end) but it struggles with my 55-250. I'd found it easier to just manually focus with that one. There is a sweet spot with the close up lens. Slowly move the entire camera forward and back and you'll find the spot where the focus is sharpest.

Disappointed

It worked more or less as advertised to enable closeups with my EFS 55-250 mm telephoto zoom but the closest shots were more or less in focus but very grey and hazy.

allows for wonderful details

I've been using this with Canon's 50mm primary lens to capture flower and insect detail. With a tripod and manual focus the images are glorious, rich and everything I hoped for. It fits the lens securely and is quite easy to screw on and take off.
