I am 68 years old and have trouble holding binoculars steady. At the touch of a button these are nearly perfect. And this new model has a nice feel, For image stabilization you just tap a button to turn on and tap again to turn off. There is a small green light by the on / off button to remind you IS is on. The only downside is the case (soft case and no strap for the case).

I bought these for my wife for her birthday. These binoculars are terrific! The image stabilization technology works wonderfully. Regular binoculars allow a quick look, but with these, we can linger, search and more greatly appreciate the field of view; birdwatching is a pleasure. One small thing that Canon needs to address: the plastic lens caps will fall off easily. So far we have been very lucky to find them on the ground or on the floor of the car. They will fall off if you shake the binoculars, and I cannot seem to improvise a fix using tapes etc.

A perfect blend of portability and performance, the Canon 8x20 IS Series Weather Resistant Porro Prism IS Binoculars offer an unparalleled viewing experience. These are the world's lightest binoculars equipped with Image Stabilization (IS), weighing less than a pound, making them an ideal companion for all-day outdoor activities like birdwatching, sports events, or stargazing.
The compact design of these binoculars is complemented by a high magnification ratio of 8x, bringing distant subjects into sharp, close-up view. Whether you're observing the intricate details of a bird's feathers or tracking a baseball soaring out of the park, these binoculars ensure you don't miss a moment.
The 8x20 IS binoculars are engineered with Canon's high-efficiency Lens Shift Image Stabilization system, which effectively cancels out shaking caused by movement and vibration. This technology, borrowed from Canon's EF lenses, uses a continually adjusting vibration gyro mechanism to move the IS lens both vertically and horizontally, delivering consistently sharp and steady images with minimal color fringing.
The binoculars also feature Powered IS technology, derived from Canon's high-quality video and digital camera technology. This significantly enhances the conventional binocular IS technology, making it easy to maintain a high-magnification view, especially in situations where body movement or strong shake might occur.
The 8x20 IS binoculars incorporate a field flattener lens element for edge-to-edge sharpness and Super Spectra Coating on the lenses to suppress reflected light across a wide range of wavelengths. This results in high contrast, high definition, and a clear viewing experience.
With a minimum focusing distance of 6.6 feet, these binoculars are perfect for viewing small objects from a short distance. The ergonomic design and comfortable grip, facilitated by the miniaturization of the IS unit, make these binoculars easy and comfortable to hold, with intuitive access to the IS switch, focusing ring diopter, and more.
Experience the world in greater detail with the Canon 8x20 IS Series Weather Resistant Porro Prism IS Binoculars.
