Works like it says. Very helpful on the back when getting down low for those special macro shots. I highly recommend.

I got this because, at 85, I'm happy to sit down and do low-level photography for a change: my previous perspective has been from the height of my eyes in a six foot four inch frame... I'm still learning how to use the angle finder, but from my preliminary tests and essays it seems to work very well. I'm glad I bought it!

I saw this product on the Adorama TV "Two Minute Tips" with Ed Bergman. I saw right away how it could help my macro and copy stand process and it didn't seem all that expensive for an OEM product. What I am very surprised with is the incredibly great build quality. Way more than I expected considering it's fairly inexpensive for an actual Canon product. It fits on my 5D Mk1V and includes an adapter for use on my Rebel T6s. The diopter adjustment range is sufficient to adjust for my old eyes. I also appreciate the 2.5x feature for setting/verifying focus and depth of focus. The view is bright and crisp. I comes with a nice pouch that also accommodates whichever viewfinder adapter that is not being used. So, no more standing on a stool at the copy stand or laying on the ground to get a macro shot. Thanks Adorama and Ed Bergman for a great Two Minute Tip!

Optics are good, but the angle piece slides around really easily. Overall better than the normal viewfinder but it requires a lot of calibration. I have about a 25% "perfect" focus rate with my 55/1.4 wide open, which is much better than the normal viewfinder but still behind using live view.

When setting up this unit on your DLSR, be sure to reset you cameras view finder Diopter adjustment to zero. In my case, the camera Diopter was set for my vision. Which in turn did not allow me to focus the angle finder at 2.5X. Basically, I was double Diopting. Sorry, this is the best way to explain this. I have also since discovered, this unit will fit a number of different old film cameras, ie. In my case the Nikon N4004 and Yashica FX-D. The true test will be to put some film through them.

For low angle shooting this is the perfect solution. Expensive for what it is but Canon products generally perform as advertised.

Getting too old for those ground flower macro pictures? Than this could be your best investment. Easy to use and the results are great. Takes a little practice but worth the effort.

This was exactly what I needed. Allows the photographer to get shots at angles that would normally not be possible. I use this for macro shots of plants low to the ground. The integrated magnifier is handy to obtain a better manual focus when needed. The eyepiece also rotates so you can shoot in portrait or landscape mode. In addition this is the usual canon build. Heavy duty for years of use. Also comes with a case.

Its difficult, if not impossible to get a full frame view with or without glasses. Its too bad since it is very well made.

The concept for this product is basic; make it easier to get low shots. Problem is this product is poorly designed. After a few uses, it is no longer stable on the eyepiece. Poor reflection on Canon quality. Ontop of that, they continually increase the price without improving the product.

After reading many reviews and consulting with professionals, I chose the Canon angle finder C as an accessory for macro photography for scientific documentation of specimens both in the field and in the laboratory (I am a university professor). This unit works perfectly for improving the comfort of taking photos in close quarters and the quality of the resulting images is much improved over other methods for getting such shots. I am currently using the finder on a Canon EOS 7d with an EF 100mm f/2.8L macro lens, but this unit will be equally useful in the near future since I plan on getting a full-frame EOS within the next few years. It works smoothly – exactly what I needed. Kudos also to Adorama, who has what must be the most extensive and impressive inventory I have yet to find online making one-stop shopping realistic (California does not have such a photography 'superstore'…). Packing was secure, shipping was fast, and personal contact service for advice was friendly and professional all the way. A wonderful experience – Thanks!

Okay, I'm beginning to feel the years creep into my joints and the kind of bending, stooping, leaning and other physical gyrations I used to be able to do in order to get the shot are just not happening anymore. Then I came upon this little gem and it's really helped out a lot. By the way, I tried the tripod route and live view, but I've never been one to use my tripod much and I have always preferred to frame the shot through the viewfinder. So if you are looking to ease the pain of getting certain shots -- especially macro and nature -- and like me are tired of lugging or fidgeting with a tripod then I recommend you give this handy attachment a try. Pros: Canon's angled viewfinder I can carry in my pocket and use it when I need it. It slips on easily and the optics are tack on. Cons: The action -- it rotates, click by click -- needs to be a bit stiffer because it's too easy to move it out of place. Perhaps there is a way to adjust this, but I've yet to figure it out. 2) The metal tabs that hold it in place do not seem to be very sturdy -- which is why is feels a bit loose -- but only time with tell how it holds up. Reasons 1 and 2 were the reasons I checked the "Not Durable" box on this rating/review. 3) Like a lot of Canon product's it's ridiculously expensive -- I purchased mine used from Adorama and was pleased with both the purchase price, condition and service I received. I hope this helps. ciao m

This is a must have for any one that does macro photography so you don't hurt your neck. Also if you have a short tripod it works great.

The viewfinder functioned as designed, but it did not work for my application. I photograph dogs which are constantly. Very difficult to follow motion in the viewfinder.

This angle finder is made better than the cheaper models. also I tried two other finders, and neither would attach to the 7D. It's worth the difference in price.

I love the idea of this, but Canon needs to reengineer this so that it will actually stay on the eyepiece mount. After a few uses, the metal clips that hold it in place bend out of position, and I have to use tape to keep it on the camera. Also, the swivel that allows you to go from shooting vertical to horizontal does not lock in place very well. Again, I have to use tape to hold it in position.

I have been taking photos for more years than I care to remember - LOL! - and originally used a Canon Angle Finder, the "B" I think, on a T90. I then used the same Finder on my first DSLR, an XSi, so when I bought a 7D earlier this year it was a no-brainer that the Angle Finder C would be part of the set up. Simply put, an Angle Finder improves the handling of ANY (D)SLR camera immensely, it allows you to take shots that you normally wouldn't be able to capture, as well as getting more dramatic or visually pleasing images across the board; the shot of the musician I have included is a case in point. I was kneeling in a doorway by the side of the stage in a very small, cramped venue, with my camera on a monopod, practically at the guy's feet. Without the Angle Finder, this shot would have been virtually impossible, unless I'd been flipped over on my back, and willing to manhandle the camera plus 70-200mm lens from that position! LOL! The Finder comes with two adapter plates, one for the 7D, 5D etc, and the other for the Rebels, as well as a soft case with an internal loop to hold the adapter you're not using. The Finder itself rotates a full 360° and has stop clicks every 45°, which makes using it very convenient. You can also adjust the magnification of the unit to x2.5 for fine focusing, but you do have to manually refocus the Finder if you take advantage of this feature. Because of the terrible events in Japan earlier this year I had to wait a couple of months before I received my Angle Finder, and had to shoot a couple of jobs without it in the meantime, which REALLY made me appreciate it once it arrived! LOL! The only negative I can really come up with in relation to the Angle Finder C is the price. Canon accessories are notoriously expensive, and there's an extensive and thriving market of 3rd party alternatives. I have to admit I was tempted by some of the less ruinously expensive options, but after spending hours looking through reviews it would appear that the optics of these others range from poor to abysmal in quality, and while I certainly wouldn't say the Finder C is good value for money, I simply can't work without it! LOL!

I use this for three things: 1) When shooting people, subjects look tall or short relative to the heigh of the person doing the looking. I'm tall (6'4"). So most "through the lens" shots are taken from the perspective of a tall person who is looking just slightly down on the subjects. This tends to make subjects look "short" when, in reality, they are not short. The angle finder allows me to change the camera height down to chest-height (instead of eyeball height) and helps improve the perspective of the shot. 2) When taking shots where I want the camera low to the ground, this allows me to put the camera right on the ground and/or take shots with the camera angled upward while still being able to look through the lens to set up the shot. 3) It provides two different magnifications... the standard magnification normally seen through the viewfinder is increased to 1.25x (just a slight magnification increase) but doesn't cut off anything (you still get a full view). But it also jumps to 2.5x magnification (although you only get the center of the shot) which helps when trying to fine-focus the lens. Magnification is switched through a small flip-lever on the side. It also has a focus adjustment for those who normally wear glasses (you can set it so that you don't need to wear glasses when looking through it) for standard myopia. It also rotates 360 degrees so you can rotate the camera for portrait orientation. There are a number of "click" stops (every 45 degrees of rotation). That's the good news. The bad news it that it doesn't take much effort at all to knock it sideways out of the "click" stop to rotate it. So I find I'm frequently bumping it when doing macro work. Eyecup folds down for use either with or without glasses. It also includes two different adapters which allows it to work with any Canon EOS camera and also comes with a small soft case.

Being tall and aging faster than I'd like, I eventually broke down and bought this item. I was tired of crouching and bending to get photos from a low perspective. To this end, and more, this device works well Build construction is good. Being able to swivel in one plane is good as well. I was disappointed to see I needed two different adapters for both of my SLRs, but this is more a reflection of the camera than the angle finder. It is a little difficult to get on and off, but removal may improve in time. You do need to plant your eye firmly on the eye cup to see the entire frame.

When shooting Macro one requires an angle finder that will maintain it's barrel position once set so that your hands are free to make other adjustments to your camera settings etc. [...]I returned my Canon A F C, while still under warranty, and got it back from Canon saying too bad here is where you can purchase another one. I demanded to speak with any photographer on the Canon staff. I did get a call back from Mr. Brooks and I sent the finder to him for inspection and repair. That was many weeks ago and he lately sent it to some "top person at Canon". This coupled with the failure of two L series lenses (one new in the box) the (other virtually new, but out of Canon Warranty), I am loosing faith in Canon. And worse I am fast loosing interest in photography.

This is one of those things that, once you buy it, you think "why didn't I get this sooner?" It's very helpful for the low shots, but you can also twist the angle finder around through 360 degrees...so even if the camera is slightly higher than you, you can peer up in and into the angle finder. As you rotate it, the image stays level to your eyepoint, i.e. turn it 90' to the side and horizontal stays horizontal. It's easy to attach, however I wish the little metal fingers provided a bit more friction against the mount, there's more play than I'd like. Caveat: if a laser-etched matte grid is available for your camera, buy it..using this finder, you may not get the 90° alignment you seek..

Required for waist-level or prone photography with Canon SLR/DSLR bodies. Magnification 1.25x or 2.5x by flipping lever. 1.25x useful, 2.5x not helpful to me, but that may be a factor of my less than perfect eyesight. Similar aftermarket products available, I haven't tried them; I stick to Canon-branded products because they've never given me trouble. Current use with 20D, DRXTi.
