Reliable but could be faster charging
It's a reliable battery but with a relatively short life (about two hours) and very slow to recharge, compounded by the fact that they don't make a multi-battery charger. Still, it's a good camera for our use and this battery's the best game in town.

A good, light weight battery
The XA10 is a great light weight camera for recording ethnographies and the longer life battery is a must. It takes a 3 hour charge and weights nothing. I carry four of them and don't have to recharge for days.

Good battery
I bought this battery as a replacement for the one that came with the camera, partly because I had a store credit and didn't know what else I needed. It fits in the original slot fine.

Bulky addition
A good product but does add some significant length to camcorder size when installed.

You get what you pay for.
I've bought off brand battery replacements for this Canon battery and was extremely disappointed. The off brand batteries became paperweights after the first use. Yes these Canon batteries are expensive but you can count on their performance to be top notch.

Canon camcorder battery lasts a long tim
My husband and I use the camcorder mostly when we're traveling. The battery can be recharged either from a wall outlet using the cord with the camera or with the charger that comes with the camers. Charging is relatively fast and long-lasting. Always have two battries, though, so you don't miss anything!
If I could change something, I would like to have a way of knowing how much life is left in the battery (not the charge) so I would know when to replace it. They're costly and there's no way of knowing when it's futile to try to recharge it.

But none but Canon Batteries
Purchased non-branded batteries but they didn't work with Canon patented battery evaluation system. They did provide power. Why buy cheapies and eliminate one of the best features of the camera, never again, from now on camera manufacturer matching batteries.

Convenient Size
The original camera battery is too small. I use two of these BP-819 for normal operation and the original as backup.
