Shopper : This is new, not used or refurbished, right?ANDREW R : I'm not sure I understand your question. The item in this product listing is new (not used or refurbished). Items we sell are NEW unless otherwise indicated.RODNEY S : Looks like it is new. The price listed is the price of a new.
Shopper : Does it come with 1 year warranty from Canon?HOWARD F : Yes it does. Extended is available.SAM T : Yes, I believe it does.
Bimbisar J : do i need to buy lenses and microphone separately i need to shoot 1 hour documentary?RODNEY S : Depending on the C100 that you bought, body only or ones with a kit lens. The C100 has a built in microphone. I've done several videos and I use external microphones.PETER K : Sorry. I forgot that it does come with a microphone. But no lens.PETER K : The C100 does not have a built in mic nor a lens. They both will have to be purchased.GREG J : Hi Bimbisar. There is a built-in microphone on the handle that might not be pictured in the image they display of the camera. But depending in what you're shooting and how good you want the productin value to be it might be best to have another option or two for audio. I record a lot of interviews so I always use a wireless lapel microphone that I can clip onto a shirt or a man's tie , for example. It sounds a lot better than if ised the built-in microphone. A shotgun microphone is another option that you should read about and see if it might be right for you. If you buy a C100 I would recommend purchasing the kit that comes with the 24-105 Canon lens. It has image stabalization that can help some if doing hand-held shots (though a tripod is a must) and it has a fairly decent focal range for a little wider to zoom shots. I have a number of lenses for differnt needs, but the 24-105 is what I almost always use for interviews and is the most verital of all of mine. I hope that helps! Have fun shooting!ADOLPH P : Yes, you do.

very happy

Great feel and balance, I love the different configurations. The picture quality is amazing. viewfinder is useless, but LCD viewfinder is ok. You need a lcd hood to be able to see the screen outside in the sun. The ND filters are awesome, built in. I like the neckstrap for when its not on my ff/mattebox rig, its nice to hold by itself. Sales dept. was awesome, came early.

Cannot beat it for the money

I shoot video mostly for the web. Previously I used a Canon 5D Mark II. That camera is what made shooting video more exciting for me than traditional video cameras. Of course, it also lacked many key features of traditional 1/3" sensored cameras. The C100 brings back most of those lacking features: XLR inputs, peaking, zebras, and many others. Like others have mentioned, the one downside is the AVCHD codec. There is the possibility of some of my work appearing on broadcast and that codec won't hold up. However, with the addition of the Ninja 2 or similar device, I can turn this camera into a C300 "light." Many have complained about the EVF. I admit it's not great but since I've never used a C300 I don't know what I'm missing. And with the peaking and zebra features, the weak EVF functions pretty well. The video out of the camera looks fantastic. The fact that this sensor is designed for video means you don't have some of the stuttery look that handheld 5D Mark II and III footage can have. It was money well spent.

Great Video Camera!

Using the C100 for shooting video for instructional videos. It is crystal clear compared to the Canon 7D and the 7D is a great camera. It's easy to use and setup. It's really nice not having a mirror flipping up and down everytime you set your camera to the video mode. Just getting started using this thing and so far it is fantastic. Money well spent.

Balance between image and usability

The image is extremely crisp and full of detail. You can pull stills out of it even with the internal codec they look gorgeous. Focus becomes really important. It has so many tools like waveforms, focus peaking, zebras, XLR's so you have an entire system built into the camera. It feels really balanced and that goes a long way when you are shooting for several hours. Then it's great at handling light. Stuck in a dark situation? This camera can pick up faint light easily. Stuck in a bright situation? Built in ND's. Its main downsides are that it shoots 1080 60i, not 1080 60p. Also it lacks higher resolution options. These wouldn't be an issue but considering the price, there should be more options. Overall a great camera that wears many hats and will not disappoint.

Fantastic Little Rig

I'm primarily a one-man-band shooter, specializing in commercial and corporate production. The C100 strikes a great balance between simple efficiency and quality, for me this is critical. PROS: 1. Sensor is fantastic, nice dynamic range, great look. 2. EF Mount: Works natively with my Canon glass. So nice. No fiddly lens adaptors needed. 2. Form Factor: I love how it feels and shoots. 3. On board audio ! Goodbye dual system. 4. Intuitive CONS: 1. No VFR, no 60P. I really miss this. 2. No intervalometer. I miss this feature from my AF100. 3. The viewfinder is absolutely useless. C'mon Canon, this is a beautiful device in so many ways ... why the silly EVF ? It's plain awful. You'll need to pick up an external EVF to take full advantage of this device. The C100 is a near perfect camera for those of us who operate on tight budgets, short deadlines, and tiny crews. The cons can be forgiven when you factor what you are getting. Nice stuff Canon. Hopefully you see fit to give us 60P in a future firmware update. I'd be very thankful for that.

Great Camera!

I have used the C100 on documentary, event, and corporate projects and it has been fantastic in all cases. The form factor, ease and comfort of operation, and just plain awesome controls have helped reignite my passion for filming. Coming from the 5d, it only took me a few minutes to learn the menu options and get a feel for the controls of the C100. The handle feels solid and comfortable to grip. The thumb control is well placed and intuitive. Menus are easy to navigate. The XLR audio is a welcome addition coming from DSLRs. I love the ability to record to both card slots at the same time. This is a big deal when you consider a big job doesn't have to be field recorded to only one sd card. Image quality is a good deal beyond what the 5d mark iii is capable of. Low light noise looks more organic and less digital. High detail shots are crisp and pleasing to view. The image also holds up well to color correction. Battery life is long lasting (up to 5+ hours with the larger battery). So you can go out with a couple of batteries and shoot all day in most cases. ND filters built in. Worth their weight in gold. HDMI port allows for either uncompressed HD recording with an external recorder, or you can also run a 2nd monitor while also using the on board LCD, which is great for a video village.

Great job Canon.

Having used my C100 on 2 weddings, I'm very happy with it's performance. I shot the first wedding in C-log and figured Wide-Dr is more then enough for weddings and events for me. I leave the cam on preset 8 and am very pleased with the image quality. Balanced well on my glidecam and was almost a smooth transition from my previous camcorder. Taking a while getting use to the WB button location as it's higher then I'm use to but the joystick and accessing other items is a breeze while shooting. My only gripe with the C100 is it doesn't have any form of Slow-motion. It doesn't have 60P either which I could use for slowmotion. There are times where I could really use the feature and am not able to do. It's unfortunate. Besides that I'm a very happy customer, and happy I upgraded.

The Canon C100 is a professional video camera that accepts interchangeable Canon EOS Cinema and EF lenses. Designed for single-camera run-and-gun shooting for the professional videographer, the camera delivers high-quality 1080p HD Video via its 8.3MP Super 35mm sensor. It has built-in Stereo mics and ND glass filters, and has a compact, modular design. It is 15 percent smaller than the C300, and is well-suited for event video, news gathering, and documentary videography.

What you should know about this camera:
• Sensor facts: The camera contains a Super 35mm 8.3MP CMOS sensor that boasts a top ISO of 80,000, along with reduced noise in low light videography.
• EF Mount: The C100 works with Canon's entire lineup of EF-mount lenses. It has onboard peripheral illumination correction to eliminate vignetting. Continuous AF is available via a firmware update for EF lenses with STM focusing.
• Dual card slots: The C100 has two SDHC/SDXC card slots and offers professional-grade read/write speeds. You can record simultaneously to both cards for instant back-up, or full-HD footage in Slot A and down-converted SD to the card in Slot B.
• Wide Dynamic Range: To gain the highest dynamic range, the camera Canon Log records subdued contrast and sharpness, so color grading can be done more effectively in post. In addition, DR is a new gamma setting based on Rec.709 and doesn't require post-processing.
• Built-in ND filters: The camera has three ND filters which can be manually combined to handle bright environments: off, 2-stop, 4-stop, and 6-stop.
• One-shot AF, Push Auto iris: Push button Auto Iris automatically adjusts aperture , and one-shot AF handles focus adjustments.
• Reduced rolling shutter: The CMOS sensor processes signals in a manner similar to a 3-chip RGB sensor. This reduces the chance of rolling shutter skews.
• XLR audio: For professional audio quality, the C100 has a top-mounted handle unit with two XLR connectors and a mic shock mount. 2-channel 48kHz linear PCM audio recordings in 24Mbps are possible.
• Full manual exposure and focus control: You can create and control custom picture settings and camera functions, and can also control all focus and exposure controls manually. Focus peaking and magnification are available, as are edge monitor and green waveform displays for image quality feedback."
