This lens is a perfect blend of Canon's EF lens functionality and the 4K optical performance of Canon Cinema lenses, making it an ideal choice for professional video shooting environments, including drama, documentary, and other video productions.
The lens design is optimized for video acquisition, covering an 18-80mm focal length with servo control capability. It features an electronic zoom that offers smooth, quiet, and stable zooming across the entire zoom range. The lens maintains focus throughout the zoom range (parfocal), while the T-stop remains constant throughout the entire focal length range, ensuring consistent exposure.
Designed to meet contemporary 4K production standards, this lens delivers superb optical performance with 4K support throughout the entire zoom range. It also shares the same color characteristics as Canon's existing Cinema lenses, ensuring consistent color reproduction across your production.
The lens features a no-step iris mechanism for motion picture shooting, which can be controlled manually or electronically. The 9-blade iris diaphragm helps create beautiful blur and soft shafts of light for a more cinematic expression.
Equipped with a newly developed servo drive unit, this lens allows for precise control over zoom, focus, and iris. The drive unit is compatible with industry-standard lens controllers, including Canon's standard broadcast lens controllers (ZSD-300D/ FPD-400D). Power for the drive unit can be provided via the camera mount, simplifying your setup.
Despite its powerful features, this lens remains compact and lightweight, making it suitable for single-user operation. It supports a wide range of accessories, including cinema follow focus (gear module 0.8mm) and a 15-mm Rods Support System. The optional ZSG-C10 grip, designed exclusively for this lens, adds additional flexibility for the ENG style "run-and-gun" video shooter.
The lens is equipped with an ultrasonic motor (USM) to support Dual Pixel CMOS AF (Auto-Focus) and the Dual Pixel Focus Guide, enhancing reliability and mobility during 4K shooting. It also features optical-shift image stabilization, providing stable shooting whether the camera is used handheld, on the shoulder, or on a tripod.
Finally, this lens supports various EF communication functions via the electronic contacts of the EF mount, allowing for peripheral illumination correction, lateral chromatic aberration correction, and remote control of focus, zoom, and aperture via the camera interface. It also displays lens metadata (focal length, F-number, T-number, model name) on the camera, providing you with all the information you need at a glance.
