This is my second Canon Elan 7NE. I shoot Photo journallistic weddings and I highly recommend this camera. It is well built and delivers each shot from auto focus to print. I had a chance to head in the direction of digital this year but decided to keep the film rolling. You can purchase for under $400 and get great pictures.

very reliable, like the eye controlled focus, I also like that the camera can be set for full auto or full manual operation, or you can set the camera so you control a certain setting and the camera does the rest. Best in it's class!!!

This camera has all the features you could ever ask for. The price is very reasonable for a camera that will do everything any serious hobbyist would want. I bought the camera as a second high quality camera for the reasonable price and the fact that it is compatible with my Cannon equipment. The only drawback is the fact that it is a film camera that comes with film processing costs. The cost of film and processing (and scanning) would offset the price of a higher price digital camera over a relatively short period of time if you will use this camera as your primary camera and plan to take a lot of pictures.

I've finally gone digital (Rebel XT) and I really wish Canon would turn this eye-control focus featured camera into a Digital equivalent. The 35mm Rebel isn't as great a camera as this one is w/the eye-control, but if you want digital you have to give up that feature and go back down to the rebel model. Just like my old Elan IIe, the grip coating over the plastic body begins to come off onto your hands when you sweat taking outdoor soccer game pictures as I do. That's the only minor issue I've had with the camera at all. It takes amazing pictures so buy it if you don't mind the film developing costs. It's way lower now than it was when digital SLRs didn't exist. I paid way more for my Elan IIe than I did the 7Ne and now prices have come down even further as digital has become even more popular.

It is a major step up from my old Canon Ftb from 30 years ago
