The lens good is excellent. It works perfectly. I like how you can put it on the lens backwards to store when you're not using it. However, when I ordered it from Canon it was backordered for over a week. I had to call them to cancel my order because they don't let you cancel it online. I ended up buying it from a local store.

This is fantastic. I know I shouldn't care about this, but shooting as a professional, sometimes I feel insecure using a 50mm f1.8, but this hood makes the lens look much more presentable. It works well, has fantastic build quality, and has a release button and fits on the lens smoothly.

It's just the right size to give good protection to the lens and block unwanted light. When reversed it's still a compact package. The inside is big enough for easy access to the lens cap or filter. Like the newer Canon hoods it has the spring-loaded latch that locks the hood securely to the lens. No negatives so far and highly recommended

I've started buying hood for all my lenses. I've used them a lot on some, and not so much on others, but you never know when you may want one. In this case, the Canon version is not expensive enough for me to consider buying off brand.

I was using my 50mm lens for a while without the lens hood, and my pictures were great, but once I started using it I noticed my pictures became more saturated and getting rid of sun flares was a must for me. It also protects my lens. Highly recommend!

When I received this, I was wondering why it was so big. The filter size is 49mm on the lens. What is nice about the large size hood is if you have larger filters for other Canon lenses, you can use a step up ring up to 58mm and still use the lens shade without removing it! So, if you don't mind the large size, this is really handy.

This product did exactly what I expected it to do. It's great, fits on the 50mm STM lense beautifully. Solid connection and locks in place well not showing any signs of being loose or falling off. I've had it for a couple weeks now and it can take a beating. It's definitely came in handy with just simply protecting my lense from damage from bumping it against things ect. Worth the buy for me. And it adds a nice professional look :) Oh and Adorama did a good job with shipping time and packaging as well.

Great lens hood. I really like the lock feature of this lens hood. I have it on several other Canon hoods and it gives a secure feeling that the hood will not fall off accidentally. A simple button push unlocks the hood.
