The Canon extension tubes are higher quality than other brands, and are much smoother mounting and unmounting. I strongly recommend them.

Pretty simple, well built, electrical contacts work perfectly. I got this to shorten the min focus distance on an EF 500 f4l for songbird photography. Works well.

Macro without the expensive lens. I highly recommend to amateurs and pros a like.

Nice for some macro photography with 50mm f/1.4 lens. Shot brides jewelery closeups with this.

Excellent quality. Enough to justify the price being much higher than the imported clones? I think so. The fit and finish are great, and I'm glad I spent a little more for Canon quality.

This extension tube allows for very nice macro shots without spending money on an additional macro lens. So far the shots taken have been very good.

Very nice, well-made piece of equipment that does what it's supposed to do very well. Indispensable for really close, sharp flower shots. Highly recommended.

I bought this short extension tube along with the 25 mm extension tube for use with my 100 mm macro lens for close up and macrophotography. Although there are other extension tubes in the market, I preferred this made by Canon, because I know it to be a precision device designed to be a perfect match to my Canon equipment. I have used it, and it has performed exactly as I expected.

Does a great job of getting you in close for macro focusing. No additional optics to mess with your image, just an air gap behind your lens. Can be used with most every EF lens so it's a lot more versotile than a single macro lens costing HUNDREDS! You'll like it.

Great for inexpensively adding macro capability to pretty much any EF lens. There are no additional lenses in the unit to affect your image, just creates an air gap between your lens and the body. Simple as it gets.

I use this tube with my EF 100mm L series macro lens for... you guessed it - macro photography! Works exactly as expected. Build quality is of the typical high quality that comes with the Canon name (hence why I chose it vs. Kenko).

Canon quality, passes the electronic controls through to the lens. I am happy. Yes, I would love a 100mm USM Macro, but for the time being this works well enough for my tasks (which is photography of small electronic components).

not an exciting item, but adds macro function to several lenses

I guess I didn't realize that the Auto-Focus would not work with this extension tube. It only means that you have to move the camera to focus. Since things are very close by definition that isn't a serious problem, only a surprise.

This extension tube works with all my lenses & allows me to get from a few inches to a few centimeters away from details I really want to isolate & highlight. Best buy I've made all year.

I got this so I wouldn't have to carry a macro lens when I go to places like the zoo. It saves on weight and I can easily slip it in my pocket. I got both the EF 25 and the EF 12, the EF 25 for the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, and the EF 12 for the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L. I found that these work great for aquarium shots. As good as a macro lens? No but it works great for close- up shots.

The tube does exactly what it is supposed to. the 12 mm works best with my 50 f/1.8 longer zooms will be better with a 25mm tube. The tube also works well with my 15-30 but only at the 30 end; I can focus on objects within 2" of the front element. All in all pretty useful if you want to try macro work without buying a macro lens.

A good unit that does what it's supposed to. It doesn't get as close in as the EF 25 II, but if you get both units, you get fairly good close up shot variety for less than the cost of a decent macro lens

I bought this for my wife without really understanding what it does. This is for EXTREME closeup photos. Having seen what it is and what it does, I wish I had bought either a generic extension, or a different piece of equipment all together. The quality and performance are great...but it was [$].

I like the durability. It does the trick of turning my zoom into macro. I can't wait until this spring so I can take all of the flower and butterfly shots that I love.

Increase potential use of most of my EF lenses from wide angle to telephoto. Great selective depth of field tool.

The perfect close-up tool

Well made tool. Precisely couples with lens and camera body. Smooth mount/dismount. Excellent functionality within the range for which it is designed. It really makes a difference when deciding between original Canon products and cheaper second market items. Stick with Canon when it comes to lenses and accessories like this one.
EF12 II extension tube
By DAVID D.
Excellent quality. Enough to justify the price being much higher than the imported clones? I think so. The fit and finish are great, and I'm glad I spent a little more for Canon quality.
While maintaining the same 12mm and 25mm lengths as their predecessors, the Canon Auto Focus Extension Tube EF 12 II has been innovatively redesigned to accommodate EF-S mount lenses and their extended rear elements. This extension tube is perfectly compatible with all previous EF and TS-E lenses, making it a versatile addition to your photography equipment.
Designed for both film and digital SLR cameras, the EF 12 II is an ideal tool for close-up and macro photography, enabling you to capture the intricate details of subjects like butterflies and moths with precision. The auto-focus feature of this extension tube ensures sharp, clear images, even of quick-moving subjects, enhancing your photography experience.
The EF 12 II is also known for its seamless coupling with the lens and camera body, ensuring smooth mounting and dismounting. Its excellent functionality within its designed range sets it apart from other market items. This extension tube not only enhances the capabilities of a dedicated macro lens but also fills the frame at distances of ten to fifteen feet when combined with an image-stabilized 75 - 300 mm telephoto lens and the Canon XSi.
Please note that exposure compensation may often be required with cameras other than the EOS-1 Series. The Canon Auto Focus Extension Tube EF 12 II is a testament to Canon's commitment to providing high-quality, reliable lenses and accessories for photographers of all levels.
