NYI L : I have a EOS Rebel T6/EF 18-55 mm lens. It'll work?DAYLE S : Yes, it fits my EFS 18-55 mm lens on my SL 1. It fits on backwards too for storage. Hope this helps.
HEATHIR M : I have a Rebel T5 EF-S 18-55mm lens, will this work with it?GREGORY C : O.K., since you didn't give enough info about your lens i.e., the f stop limits of your lens (3.5 to 5.6) and size of filter to use for your lens 55mm or other, making it difficult at best to properly answer your question. If your lens is a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II then the lens hood you need is the EW-60C, the hood EW-63C is not compatable with your lens. If you need more info about your lens you can go to the Canon USA website, hope this helps you.DAVID T : According to Canon the EW-63C lens hood is compatible with the STM version of the 18-55mm lens and that version only.MICHAEL S : I have the lens and hood which I use this lens with a Canon 60D. Is there a lens hood for this lens?JOSEPH D : YesCHARLES N : The Canon EW-63 shown is the correct lens hood for the new 18-55 mm F3.5 - 5.6 STM lens. If you have the older lens that is not the STM version you need a different hood. Check your paperwork that came with your lens or contact Canon customer service to get the correct number. If you can find one, it is always best to use the hood made by the manufacturer. They give you more features. If you can't get one from the manufacturer there are a lot of inexpensive screw-in hoods, cylindrical or petal shaped in both regular & wide angle models. The petal style can only be used on lenses with internal focusing where the front element does not rotate to focus. The best of the after market hoods are the Vello snap-in lens hoods. They snap in like a lens cap, are reversible & the cap can be attached to the front or the back of the hood (if the cap is compatible). In order to be compatible, the snap in cap needs really wide press in threaded sections. I have a Vello 62 mm hood that is fully compatible with my Sigma 62 mm cap, but my 62 mm Tamron cap is not compatible because the moving threaded sections are not wide enough & the non-moving parts of the cap strike the hood press in threaded sections. Another minor problem is the fact that the cap does not attach dust tight to the hood. There is a small gap between the cap & the hood. It is OK for carrying in the field but not for storage. Vello may sell compatible caps. I bought my 62 mm Vello hood on E-bay for $20. You have to call them lens hoods on E-bay's search engine or the Vello hoods will not come up. Don't use the term lens shade. The Vello snap in caps are available in all sizes from 49mm thru 95 mm, except for the 58mm size, which just happens to be the size you need. So go buy the correct Canon hood for your lens. The Vello caps are compatible with wide angle lenses. The lens has to have a focal length above (not equal to) 20 mm for full frame or above 15mm for C sized chip cameras.JOANNE D : This lens hood kind of works but it is not the exact hood. I have the correct hood for the 50 to 250 zoom so I know the fit is not quite correct. I have a flexible rubber hood that works better against glare off the filter except that with a 1A filter and the hood the screw rings cause a little blockage at the corners. You can only zoom into about 25mm.DAYLE S : I bought an EW-63C Lens Hood for EF 18-55mm STM Lens and it's perfect. However, the first lens I bought was not. I had to return it and order the correct one after I contacted Canon. If the hood fits, wear it.

Bought this for my wife?s SL3/18-55 STM lens. Fits perfectly and it goes on without a hitch. Shades the lens nicely and provides a level of protection against impact. Looks good too, which never hurts.

Essential addition to Canon Rebel Lens But .....

Just received the lens shade hood in the mail a few days ago. I was glad to get it. However, it did not fit as secure as I would have liked; if you turn it past a certain point, it becomes loose. I was concerned that it might get bumped off accidential so I put a few points around the circumference with a small spot of rubber cement to prevent it from falling off. I put the rubber cement on both sides of the lens shade hood and it seems to be working just fine. I can always remove the rubber cement if I need to.

Fantastic Lens Hood For Canon T5i

Prevents glare and light flares

We picked this up before a trip to the Caribbean and it prevents a lot of light flares you may see in photos and glare on your lens. We traveled a lot and hit 6 islands and it worked great. When you don't need it, you can remove it and attach it backwards on the lens to take up less area in your camera bag. It's a useful tool with your Canon.

Check the specs before you buy.

The construction of this item is awesome. Like all Canon products, the quality is there. I gave it 3 rating because I have a 1st generation 18-55 lens. This hood doesn’t exactly fit on the lens. Canon must have changed the specifications from gen 1 to current. I’ll still keep it because it offers some sun flare protection rather than not having it at all. I would be happier if was a perfect fit.

Excellent except when reversing for storage

Well made, fits securely on 18-55 kit lens, and should perform well as a lens hood. Only quibble: when reversing the hood on the lens for storage it does not fit quite as well.
