It's the real-deal Canon with the light-absorbing felt lining on the inside of the hood ... Premium quality ... So what's not to like ? ... perhaps the price ! ... if you are a Photojournalist and/or a Street Photographer, Hard on your equipment, or on a budget, and rely on your hoods for some front element protection as well as controlling stray light, you might want to consider third-party options ... as replacement will not break the bank ...

EW -72 lens hood for cannon 35 mm f2 lens offers sturdy protection without interfering with filter attachment or lens cap attachment. Con: price. However I had to replace the prop tic hood with this one for the above mentioned reasons.

This hood is a quality item. A bit on the pricey side though. Canon should really include the hoods with all their lenses.

Unlike other lens hoods, this one locks into place. This feature is great. The hood will not move while you adjust the camera.

Is the lens hood expensive? Yes. But does it do its job? Yes. If Im spending money on a lens, I want it to perform to the best of its ability. And whats a little bit of money to ensure that I get the best pictures? I used to not always buy lens hoods, but then I would be out on shoots and have terrible lens flares that would sometimes ruin a perfect shot. And at the end of the day, the little bit of money that the lens hood costs is worth it if it even saves one great photo. Besides that, I also see it as protection for the lens I paid good money for. If I ever drop the camera with the lens attached, or bump into things, its the lens hood that takes the damage, not the expensive lens. That in itself makes them worth it.

This hood is pricey, but it is rock solid and nice and tight on the lens. It is great for not only preventing side light from hitting the lens but also for protecting the lens from getting banged up. I have hoods for all my lenses.

help with lens flare,and very easy to put on and take off. actually has a button that allows easy application.
