The Vietnam war is over!

This is a good product but the instructions don't tell you how to close it and it uses a term called 'Gradients' instead of Grads

Über-Casio is here. It's name is Canon F-792SGA.

I purchased my Canon F-792SGA about a year ago. I only wish I'd discovered it sooner, as it's one fine scientific calculator! There are plenty of reviews on the Internet about this specific model, so I'll skip the teling of how great it is (it is and get right down to a few points I'd like to see enhanced, added, or otherwise clarified: 1) Add TVM (time value of money) functions to the calculator's built-in Apps. 2) As is, this calculator (like its Casio cousins) doesn't save formula history after a power cycle. On the other hand, the TI 36X Pro does. It would be good to retain this infomation when the calulator shuts off automatically to save power, either on-screen or allow for another method of storing formulae. 3) Have a menu entry to let the user disable power saving mode altogether. 4) I'd also like to see allowance for bigger lists (say 100 paired entries) in STAT mode. 5) When in STATS mode, sotring values in the E and F registers is inconsistent with storage operation on the other registers: I cannot store the result of a calculation into either E or F after pressing the equals (=) key. For example, entering 89+3 then pressing = to get the result will not store the result in ANS memory into either E or F. But it will function as expected with all other registers. Entering the expression and immediately storing to E or F without pressing equals (=) key works just fine (e.g. 89+3 [STO] [E] will place the result into the E register). This looks like a bit of a bug. These are all rather small points that do not detract from the calculator as a whole. In fact, if ever there was an improved Casio this is it, hands down. But having TVM functions in the calculator would be superb (although neither the Casio nor the TI have those functions) and put it light years ahead of its competitors. Also a quick note about the battery: When you first unpack the Canon F-792SGA you'll notice a flimsy pastic tab protruding from the rear battery compartment, between the battery itself and the contacts. This is what caused my inital low battery warning. Carefully removing the tab (by unscrewing the battery bay cover at the top-rear of the calculator, popping the battery and peeling off the tab, then re-seating the battery and securing the plate) does the trick, and I haven't had a single low battery warning in one year. In short, this is a top-notch scientific calculator which I hope Canon continues to improve.

good calculator

IT IS A KNOCK OFF OF THE CASIO BUT MORE EXPENSIVE. AS I HAVE ALWAYS SAID THE CASIO FX-115ES WAS THE BEST SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR,SO MUST THE CANON BE.

The best calculator in the market!

I bought this 2 years ago when my professor suggested that I should get a new one since I was having difficulties with my old calculator. I took her advice and went to my uni's bookstore and asked what is the best calculator in the market that time. The guy gave me this calculator and I couldn't be happier! It is still the best in the market!! I've seen my classmates switch to this calculator since it is the best. Thank you Canon for having this very useful calculator. You made my college life a hundred times easier.

Great calculator

pros: simple to operate, customization of certain functions, cheap, well built. cons: no financial functions, graphing or statistical capabilities. i will recommend this calculator to anybody who need college math type of work, chemistry, physics and so on. not good for statistics or graphing.
