Great Camcorder

I ordered this camera to step up my workflow to 4K without having to spend a fortune on an EOS cinema camera given my budget. First off, I'm blown away by the image quality coming out of this camera. At 150mbps H.265 it feels like a good middle point between the Blackmagic ProRes and RAW codecs. The 9 blade iris I also noticed makes quite the difference in achieving shallow depth of field. I've actually managed to push the iris to F11 and still get a nice bokeh effect on a tight shot which is made even easier by the cameras on-screen focus indicators. The built in ND filters work exactly as advertised. Having shot outdoors with the camera in its wide DR mode and the 1/4 filter on, the clarity of the image is simply stunning to behold and with the right grading it could easily stand up to B-roll footage from a higher end cinema camera.

I would also like to point out that this camera does not shoot 60fps at 4K. And while that is a bit of a bummer, this was a factor in why I chose the G60 over the GX10 in that in many reviews I read the GX10 was notorious for overheating while filming at higher frame rates. I noticed this issue myself when testing the GX10 at a local camera store. My choice in picking the G60 felt completely justified when I took the camera to shoot a stand up comedy show that lasted for about an hour. While I couldn't shoot at 60 frames in 4K, I did set the camera to shoot at 30 frames in 4K and the camera stayed cool to the touch the entire time. Paired with a DM-100 mic on top, I feel this is an excellent 4K camcorder for the run-and-gun camera shooter or indie filmmaker on a tight budget.
