This camera failed on me 2 weeks after the one-year warranty expired. I think something on the sensor failed because everything was washed in a bright yellow.

I recently bought two of these from Adorama based on recommendations I had read. I am still in the learning mode on it but I find it meets all of my needs, then some. I love that I can use an external mic with it.

I purchased the Canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder to record online classes I am teaching. I just recently got it (actually bought 2 from Adorama) and have found it to live up to my expectations. I am still learning all the options available to me. I love that I can use an external mic. I have used both a shotgun mic and a lavalier mic and both work well. It was definitely a good purchase!!!

Love this video camera. I had an earlier model (R500) that I also loved, but something happened to the charging cord where it connected to the camcorder and I could no longer charge it, so I got the newer model and I love it even more than the older one. Very user friendly and has a decent on board mic. Most of the features are the same as the older model, so it was easy for me to jump in and start using it right away. Looking forward to exploring and using all the new features too.

The Canon Vixia R800 video camera has lived up to all my expectations and the bonus kit that came with this purchase has so many fun and useful "goodies" included -- extra battery (huge plus), big 32 GB SD card, great carrying bag with strap and 3 compartments for storage, portable LED light, lens cleaning kit and several other items. Looking forward to trying out everything.

Most reviews are pretty spot on. Outdoors, in good lighting....it excels... indoors in natural light...not so much....adding a .52mm wide angle helps, a little. Overall the unit functions well.

We purchased this camera to do videos for RV refrigerator repair. Over all we are very pleased with the performance of he camera. Although it has a 57x zoom, the lens does not have the ability to gather light to make a good image at 30x. All in all I am pleased with all but the user manual. The steps and the screens to send out HDMI or AV are not accurate. For example, there is no way for me to set the resolution output for the camera. Also, one has to use trial and error before they can figure out how to output HDMI. STEPS: Connect to screen with HDMI > if camera is on, turn it off > start camera by using the "play back mode" button > if one wants to use the camera as a webcam, turn off the camera again and restart with the On/Off button.

Great picture quality for the price. Use this with a USB video capture card to run our church services via Zoom. It’s been working well and we’re pleased with the quality. Didn’t want to invest in a larger, more permanent setup since we don’t need something professional, just something that will provide options for our congregation during this time.

I have two of these camcorders which I use for streaming at my church. They, plus my iPhone XR make up the three cameras that I use. The Canon camcorders give me a clean HDMI output and work well with my ATEM Mini Pro switcher. I am not recording on them as I can record the stream via the Mini Pro. The output quality is certainly fine for an under $300 camcorder and, if I didn't have my XR, I would probably have purchased three of them.

I recorded 2 full videos with this camera in my sun-room and they came out beautiful! The indoor lighting pickup isn't that great, i haven't used a ring light yet, but natural sunlight so far is the best.

love the clear videos! granddaughter wrestles and with previous camera, the pictures and videos were always orange but with the canon the pics and videos are colored just right! easy to follow instructions and more than enough settings for a casual photographer like me. the only reason i gave 4 stars instead of 5 is this camera is not wifi ready but i simply take out the sd card and transfer to computer that way. packaging and shipping times were great. and i shopped for the best price and this is where i found it!

I bought this as a replacement for an older Canon camcorder. This camcorder is not what I expected from Canon. It's not user-friendly; I couldn't figure out how to use the internal memory when the SD chip was full, and can't figure out how to disable the auto-shut off feature. My older model Canon FS200 was so much easier to figure out and use. I'm returning this "new" Canon Vixia HF R800.

Although it's video quality is very good and has some very unique features, my experience with this camera was ruined with the audio. The "autofocus motor clicking" sound is very loud and can ruin some videos. Otherwise, it isn't terrible, but the clicking is distracting.

My first time using the VIXIA HF R800 was really Great ! The camera did all that had been described to me as I asked questions during the purchase. Really glad that I purchased this camera. The expected need for a better camera has now changed. Stills and videos are easy to produce and access. This tool is going to be a Great addition. THANKS CANON for a WONDERFUL CAMERA.
