I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet but accessing it on a Mac is a bit clunky but not a problem when utilizing Premiere.

It is a phd and not much on settings. It had a bit of a learning curve. The touch screen seems a bit quirky but, like I said, I haven't had much of a chance to use it.

The picture quality is excellent.

Not sure yet.

The camera has no option to remove the overlay icons when using HDMI output and is unusable for streaming / webcam.  Will get refund.  This is such a basic feature for cameras in the past years that I'm frustratingly surprised it's missing here.

Otherwise, I would give it 4 stars due to a cumbersome and sometimes confusing menu.  I honestly have not used it enough to be able to judge the quality though.

Can't use for streaming / webcam

When I began my quest for the purchase of a video camera – it was important for me to do as much research as possible to find the ideal product that would be of high quality while meeting my specific video and fiscal needs. After making my final decision – the Adorama representative who I called to make the purchase had discovered that my desired product was no longer available. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. However, the Adorama rep (Jimmy) immediately came up with another solution. Jimmy clearly knows his video cameras and products, because he knew of another video camera brand and model right off the top of his head which offered all of the same features as the discontinued product that I had originally requested.

This was Serendipity at its best, because the Canon VIXIA HF W11 is exactly what I wanted and more. Its size, features, and capabilities are ideal for me, especially because this is my first video camera. It offers the type of heightened performance necessary for professional results while delivering the user-friendly functionality that is suitable for beginners like me at a price that was still within my budget. In addition, the Canon VIXIA HF W11 can be switched to a manual mode that enables more skilled users to adjust the settings for advanced operations. This video camera will grow with me as I learn and develop my level of expertise.

Although I reside in a different state from where the Adorama store is located – I chose Adorama because they were sellers of the video camera that I had originally wanted. I have to say that I was a bit skeptical initially about making a purchase with an unfamiliar company that was so far away. However, Jimmy made me feel at ease immediately with his professional nature, extensive knowledge, and exemplary customer service. He was patient with me and he addressed each of my questions and concerns beyond my satisfaction. 

I absolutely love my camera, but this purchase would not have happened had it not been for Jimmy at Adorama. It was indeed a happy accident to discover Adorama, as well as the Canon VIXIA HF W11 which turned out to be the perfect video camera for me! Thank you, Jimmy at Adorama!

A Serendipitous Experience!

Before I even was able to do any "water proof" testing, I came across too many basic operational functions that aren't there or do not work well.  The camera claims to have a time-laps mode but it is missing from the menu as indicated in the user manual.  There is no way to change the recording mode other than 60i or 60p.  UXP, XP, and EP options are not available in the menu.  The motor used to zoom in and out is much louder than is should be and is easily picked up by the internal mic.  When connected to a computer to move files from the internal 32GB of memory, the ability to delete files from the internal memory is not available as it would be on most external storage devices such as an SD card or thumb drive.

Besides that, the video quality was unremarkable.  The low light ability was OK.  The size and feel is in line with many other cameras on the market.

Where to start

I bought another brand and returned it a few weeks later as the video files were corrupt and unreadable.  

I purchased two of these Canon units as I am recording activities and installation techniques on my job sites.  

I am finding that the touch screen fails to register my touch most of the time.  It seems like I need to touch the screen several times to get it to work.  

I am unable to locate anything in the user manual or the on screen menu to specify that the camera records to the SD card rather than to the internal hard drive.  I am also unable to locate this setting on the Canon website or elsewhere.

Confusing Menu and Difficult to Use Touch Screen

On page 13 of the Basic User Guide in the box section. the guide mentions AV Cable (optional well, how do I get my hands on this specific cable, its not even mentioned in the product description online.

Missing a very important piece of equipment

So far I really like this camcorder.  Having nothing but good things to say about it
